Oh, and just to name names -- the following actors on DAYS are gay:
Matt Cedeno - Brandon Walker
Justin Melvey - Colin Murphy
Thaao Penghlis - Tony Dimera
Kevin Spirtas - Craig Wesley
Not, as Jerry Seinfeld would say, that there's anything wrong with
that!
GH
-------
You must not know a lot of Greek men. Thaao's Greek and sometimes the
straight ones seems gay even when they're not. Very flamboyant men in
that culture----very kiss-kiss hug-hug and very charismatic. I'm not
convinced that Melvey's gay, either. Spirtas definitely is, as he
publicly/demonstratively declared his affections for former boyfriend
Sean Hayes (Jack on Will & Grace) in Hollywood prior to their break
up.
You forgot to mention Matt Cedeno....VERRRRRRY GAY. Played lots of
sports in high school in Moses Lake, WA to try to cover it up, too,
but the guy is as gay as a fourteen dollar bill.
JN
Thaao may be Greek, but he's still quite gay. C'mon -- he's a good-looking man
who has never been married, has no children, has never once mentioned in any
interview being involved with a woman. The guy's gay. It's not shameful --
but I refuse to pretend he's not. In fact, it's a testiment to his acting
abilites that he can create sexual chemistry with the ladies as well as he
does.
OTOH, Drake Hogestyn, Peter Reckell, Matt Ashford, and Kyle Lowder are all
definitely straight. Although some of them have played gay characters (Peter
and Matt particularly) they're all devoted family men with wifes and children
-- except Kyle, who is definitely engaged.
The stigma attached to gays in Hollywood will never end until we can just say,
"Yes, he's gay -- so what? He's still a good actor!"
GH
>Thaao may be Greek, but he's still quite gay.
Thaao Penghlis is Australian. Is the rest of your information this
accurate?
No, he is Greek, but lived in Australia.
Excellent point. I guess George Clooney must be gay too because he's never
married or has any children. Oh, dear, what a waste.
Maybe ALL the guys on Days are gay. Yah, that's it. The ones who are married
are just real deep in the closet. Yeah, that's the ticket. That makes sense,
they wouldn't be good looking and acting on soaps if they weren't gay. ;o)
Golly, even Joseph Mascolo is gay...he isn't married either.
~ ~ Bonbon ~ ~
But he was born in Australia. I think that makes him Australian. If not, then
I'm French and Icebreaker is going to start picking on me.
> Maybe ALL the guys on Days are gay. Yah, that's it. The ones who are

sense,
> they wouldn't be good looking and acting on soaps if they weren't gay.
;o)
> Golly, even Joseph Mascolo is gay...he isn't married either.
Bonbon, since you and I are from the same generation, I will ask you this
question Do you remember people being as concerned about someone's sexual
orientation forty years ago as some of the people on this ng seem to be? I
am a very visual person so I imagine JN and Ice as having elaborate charts
in their homes and rating everyone that they see or hear about. They say
they don't care but their language is ugly, ugly, ugly, when talking about
the subject so that makes me think that they both protest too much. It is
sort of like those birds that make all this noise when you walk by their
nest to distract you! <G>
Jerry
Interesting analogy, Jerry. I think 40 years ago there was such a stigma about
being gay that people only talked about it in hushed terms. I think we (and I
use this term very broadly) are continue to be not fully enlightened, as "some
people" still seem to think there is something wrong with it. I guess it's
like integration...eventually, "some people" will have to understand that there
are many different types of people and that none are better or inferior to the
others. Unfortunately, by seeing how "some people" in this ng act, it probably
won't be in our lifetime.
What amazes me even more is how "some people" seem to think you are inferior
unless you are good looking (very subjective), thin, adored, rich, educated,
traveled, have big boobs, are happily married (once only), or have an important
job. Personally, I'm more interested in what's inside the person. My second
husband befriended a guy while working in a "soup kitchen" who was black,
destitute and a typical bum. He brought him home for dinner (he was always
doing that) and I found him to be one of the most facinating, introspective and
warm human beings I've ever met. I liked him instantly. Unfortunately, he
died shortly after that from complications of alcohol abuse.
Anyway, I hope what I've taught MY kids can someday cancel out the bigotry and
discrimination others have instilled in theirs. And I think we all know who
I'm talking about.
I agree with you. Just last week I was channel surfing and found a movie with
Rock Hudson. I had never seen him in a movie before. He was so romantic,
cute, flirtatous, so debonair, so easy with the ladies that I think I fell in
love with him for that moment anyways. Sexy man.
~Ginny
>Excellent point. I guess George Clooney must be gay too because he's never
>married or has any children. Oh, dear, what a waste.
He *was* married and is divorced. Unless I'm confusing him with
someone else, he was married to Martin Balsam's daughter, Talia.
Well, that's the point -- being gay doesn't mean an actor can't play straight.
I remember a few years ago getting into an argument with a woman in a video
shop about an Anne Heche movie, because the woman was saying Anne shouldn't be
playing love scenes with Harrison Ford because she was gay (at least, we
thought she was then).
I say acting is acting...the whole point of it is being convincing as something
you're not. And that includes gay actors playing straight, same as straight
actors playing gay. Should Tom Hanks not have played a gay man in
PHILADELPHIA? Should Jodie Foster have not played Richard Gere's wife?
I just say, the actors shouldn't have to hide their real-life proclivities
because silly viewers can't understand how gay actors can play straight
characters. I say, I can accept that Thaao, Cedeno, Melvey, Spirtas, etc are
gay and not have it effect my apreciation of their performances. Be proud of
who you are men!
GH
Well, see, there ya go. He went back into the closet because he couldn't hide
it by being married! ;o)
I am enlightened. Thank you, great Bonbon!

>Matt Cedeno - Brandon Walker
>Justin Melvey - Colin Murphy
>Thaao Penghlis - Tony Dimera
>Kevin Spirtas - Craig Wesley
Hi, there is something that I've been wondering for awhile. I am from
St. Louis, MO which is the hometown of Kevin Spirtas. He is a member of
a prominent family in St. Louis that is in the business of building
demolition. A few years ago I saw him and the actress who plays Chloe
being interviewed on a program that generates from here. The interview
took place on the set of Days. They took us on a walk through of the
different sets. The camera suddenly panned over to a lady sitting
watching them. I can't remember if the interviewer mentioned her as his
wife or Mrs. Spirtas. I just remember thinking of her as his wife. This
lady was white-haired and looked old enough to be his mother. I was
totally surprised when I read that he is being called gay.
I didn't come here to refute anything, or to defend him. If he is, he
is, and I am not so naive as to think that being married does not rule
out being gay. I am just curious how one finds out the status of these
actor's sexual preference. Did you read it or hear it somewhere? Are you
going by their marital status or lack of children? Are you sure all of
these men belong on this list? How do you know that they are gay is what
I am asking.
Again, I am not interested in any flame wars. I'm just a curious Days
fan who wonders why it is so important to sift out the gays from the
non-gays. If anyone can enlighten me on my questions, I would greatly
appreciate it, and thank you in advance.
Naw, actually we both have gaydar implanted chips imbedded into our
left arms. From where I'm standing right now, I can even detect who's
gay in Zermatt, Switzerland. Each chip only lasts five years, though.
I've gotta' go in and get mine replaced in October. Ice is lucky. His
lasts until April. This was all free. We're part of an elaborate
expiriment devised by the Johns Hopkins University department of
Sociology and Human Behavior. We're Guinea Pigs, Dude.
<<Snicker...big grin>>
You think we'd use a wipey erase board? Come on....that's so 1988!
Times have advanced, Man! We can now electronically detect all
deviants, however we both have a pretty good sense just on our own who
is and who isn't. That's how we were selected in the first place for
this project!
;-)
<grin>
JN
----------------------
I read at his website that he was single and I read in the "Seen Heard
Said" column of The Seattle Times newspaper that he was spotted in a
Hollywood Gym that many gay men are members of with Sean Hayes from
the tv show Will and Grace. Then I read about eight months later that
they broke up. Apparently they were both kissing outside this gym and
hanging all over one another inside the gym. Both, to my knowledge
have never come out to the press, but I think that's enough of an
admission of homosexuality if you're acting that way in public.

It *isn't* important, except to the people who are obsessed by the
subject.

In my imagination they have nothing so new as dry erase marker but use the
magic permanent markers, you know the ones that smell so bad. They do
their writing on white butcher paper because in their minds there are so
many people and so little time. <G>
Jerry
Earth to GagaWiz....it's 2002! Where have you been? We are already waaaay
past Foster being lesbian. We've known that for years and have already moved
on.

Sheriff J.W. Icebreaker - "I'm not an Indian. It's just a coincidence that I
have a love of booze and gambling and a knack for catching syphillis."
_______________
Even as a pre-teen in "Taxi Driver" I sensed a Lesbian vibe emitting
off of Foster. As a small youngster she appeared once (or maybe a
handful of times?) on the t.v. show "My Three Sons" as a kid that
Steven's young step daughter knew. That's the *ONLY* time that she
ever seemed girlish to me. In "Freaky Friday" as a kid, she was very
boyish. Growing up watching her as an actress I always felt that there
was something different in her that I did not notice in Tatum O' Neal,
Kristi MacNicol, Melissa Gilbert, and other young female actresses.
I think as an adult, she has great skin, good teeth, and beautiful
eyes and is very striking to look at, but she's still very man-ish and
un-soft looking. There's something about her that has always lacked
femininity. She looks very angular, chisled, and masculine and her
clothing, haircut, and make-up choices have never done much to soften
that. Just like Rosie O'Donnell, she doesn't do skirts or dresses.
Come to think of it---I don't even think I've ever seen her with her
kids in People magazine wearing shorts. She won't tell anyone who the
father(s) of her kids are, either, from what I've gathered thus far.
While I agree that it's no one's business, it raises more questions
about her seemingly obvious lesbian and/or 100% asexual non-dating
choices in life.
When you catch a tremendously strong vibe that a kid who's around
about your age who's a boy seems too much like a girl or vice versa
(as with Foster), usually by the time that kid grows up, you hear
through the rumor mill that he or she is gay or else they're a drug
addict. Happens every time.

> Bonbon, since you and I are from the same generation, I will ask you this
> question Do you remember people being as concerned about someone's sexual

Uh, yeah, well 40 years ago homosexuality wasn't discussed in casual
conversation as it is today. Not only are gays highly visible in most every
field and medium, but even among the heterosexual population homosexuality
is laughed at, laughed with, and is considered "hip" to be open to. Ever
watch The Man Show? Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corrola are two of the squarest
straights i've ever seen, yet not a single show goes by without some mention
of homosexuality.
You equate talking about gay issues as somehow being "concerned about
someone's sexual orientation". I say that since gays have chosen to go
"mainstream" and take their loves and their lives out of the closet you
shouldn't be surprised to see the topic creep into everday conversation.
Unclench your keister Jerry. Quit getting your panties in a wad. Relax. Take
a deep breath. Don't be so reactionary.

And you protest at our 'protestations' waaaay too much. What are you so
sensitive about? Why do you give a rats fart whether Jen or I "out" someone
on the show? The only defensive one around here on this subject is you.
Speaking of George Clooney, I read recently that he's good friends
with Krista Allen. He threw a birthday party a few months back for
her. She's also friends with Chandler from Friends (Matthew Perry). I
recently saw a picture of Krista and Matthew having iced lattes
outside at some Hollywood cafe. She had her hair curled and had on big
sunglasses. It was hard to tell it was her until I read the caption.
He is good buddies with tennis star Jennifer Capriati, too, but says
it's just platonic with Jen. I've never read a comment from Perry
about his feelings for Krista, though, and where those feelings lie in
terms of friends or more. For Clooney, though, it's definitely
platonic. I've read where he talked about her and the way he describes
it, it sounds like he's talking about a younger sister. Very sweet,
but it doesn't sound like their bunking up together or anything. Poor
Krista... I'll take him off your hands, Hon! LOL! Perry is not bad
looking, either. He's my favorite on Friends of the guys.

I agree; it *isn't* important. They are actors and paid to do a job. Their
personal lives is their own business.

----
What bugs me the most is that Jerry says he was an art teacher in the
public school system for so many years and he's ignorant enough to
think that just because people are "buzzing" about something, they
must be against it. If he taught students for decade upon decade that
those who debate issues pertaining to society's behavioral patterns
and need for companionship are all bigots, than he ought to be ashamed
of himself.
Discussion is a good thing. Our society would be void, empty, and
clueless without it. Human beings of depth discuss. Human beings who
are scared and feeble refer to debaters and avid discussion
participants as "troublemakers", "right winged tyrants", and
"political whackos".
Jerry's problem stems from the fact that he's an old school liberal,
Michael. He knows where we both stand on many of the issues that
plague America today and he's mad at us about it. Therefore, any
hotbutton topic that is discussed by us on here is a red flag for
Liberal Jerry to turn around and say that we're somehow obsessed with
dissing on people who are different than ourselves.
I'm fascinated by people who are different than myself, but I don't
like fakes and I don't like people who aren't straight shooters and
are slinky and clandestine about where they stand on the issues.
Jerry's one of those people. He's *VERY* uneasy about Lesbians, Bis,
and Homosexual men being discussed in *ANY* type of way for over a day
at this place. There's a secret lingering, Ice, and if it doesn't
pertain to Jerry himself, then there's a gay in the family. I find it
very sad that he's so ashamed of either himself or that particular
family member or close pal to the degree of such ridicule on our
behalves. It's always about bullyism to him. No one can just discuss
any societal faction whom he stands behind and supports without him
being on the defensive and whining. That's the sign of a man who's
very unhappy with *HIMSELF*, feels intellectually stunted and/or
inferior, and is utterly paranoid that any and all debate is going to
turn nasty and ill willed.
If he felt well spoken in the *FIRST* place, Icebreaker, he'd not
resort to this type of behavior when these types of discussions about
human behavior and sexuality arise.

Your idea of reactionay is like saying why not leave a dirty smelly litter
box in the center of the table that you are eating at. There are many
people who would say that for them it ruins the meal.
Ice, you just don't talk about gay issues, you seem to take great delight in
what you say and it makes you look like a jerk! How about not being so ugly
in your language? Do you really think your choice of words or slang is in
the least bit funny or humorous? You know that JN is ugly inside and out
but why do you have to mirror her with your language and lay down in the
gutter beside her? Have you not learned anything from your vast knowledge
of James Bond? I would think you would realize by now that this sort of
thing is beneath you and what purpose does it serve? It just gives me the
creeps to read what you write sometimes and it totally undermines the clever
things that you are capable of coming up with. I ask myself why would
someone who is capable of so much more want to settle for so little?
I just found out that Amanda who played Marcy from Marriage With Children was
also a lesbian..
If you taught your kids to bring homeless drunks over to the house for
supper when there are children like the twins and Dakota around then
somebody needs to LOCK YOU UP and quick. That's no type of situation
that young kids should be around. You're nuts.

I really have no idea what brought this on. I don't use slang, such as Turd
Burglar, Ass Bandit or Pillow Biter, to discuss gays. So you can't be upset
about that. And if my opinion on "gay issues" differs from yours, well then
too bad, you'll just have to learn how to live with a differing opinion. And
other than Matt Cedeno or Kevin Spirtas being gay, I haven't mentioned the
subject. So you'll need to be more specific. What is it i've said that
relegates me to the gutter?
Amanda Bearse, who played the flat-chested, chicken-squaking, over-sexed
next-door neighbor to the Bundys on "Married... With Children" was outed
many years ago. I'm thinking close to 8 years ago. Maybe 10. She has since
given birth to one, perhaps two, children (hopefully none of them are David
Crosby's). The fact that she's a lesbian has not detracted one bit from her
amazing performance on Married With Children. Marcy was one of my favorite
characters from that show and Amanda was underrated as an actress, never
receiving an Emmy nomination for it.
Jodie Foster...gay.
Sean Hayes...gay (he doesn't want to talk about it or address the subject
for fear of "labelling")
Kevin Spirtas...bisexual.
George Michael was bisexual, now living completely gay.
Some others i'll throw onto the list to help you catch up to 2002:
Portia De Rossi (from Ally McBeal)...lesbian. No ifs ands or buts about this
one....she's totally lesbian and has been photograhped with her lover.
John Travolta....gay, but living a heterosexual lifestyle.
Tom Cruise....(possibly waaaaaay in the closet)
Kevin Spacey....gay.
That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are more gay people in
Hollywood/New York than this. Right?

Look BooBear, some things in life you just know. 'kay?
For example Kevin Spirtas was photographed snuggling up against Sean Hayes
several years ago in front of a gay gym. The blond hair kid from Doctor
Quinn Medicine Woman, Chad Allen, was photographed shoving his tongue down
the throat of another dude in some Hollywood pool several years ago. It's
not even a secret anymore than James Van Der Beek from Dawson's Creek was
HAVING an affair with his on-screen father, John Wesley Shipp. JWS got fired
for it, and JVDB's publicist and the network immediately set about arranging
for him to marry his "girlfriend".

Hmmm...well, Chad Allen, who played on Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman has an
official website where it reprints an article from the October 2001 issue of
Advocate where he officially comes out of the closet. Oh, and here are some
pictures of him getting it on with a guy:

What was interesting about that article that I just read is how he was fixed
up with women in Hollywood. You bored housewives are always the last to know
because you don't want to know. Travolta...Van Der Beek....they're all gay.
I don't care, but why should you cover up and deny it for them? If there is
nothing wrong with being gay, then quit trying to hide their sexuality from
everyone else. They're GAY!!! Gay, gay, gay!!!! Got it? Gay....Mega gay!
Ultra gay!! Oprah-sized gay!!! Come on! This denial is ludicrous. You're not
fooling anyone.
He was outed back in 1990. This newsgroup has had this discussion way too

You forgot about the blonde guy who played Jonathan and was Samantha's
(Alyssa Milano) little brother on "Who's The Boss?". He's gay. Judith

of his whole coming out. They're still friends and still talk

It may come as a shock to you, but at one time, people's sex lives were
private matters. Not that people didn't wonder and talk about it,
(Hollywood= scandal, my mother always used to cluck "Poor Wallace Reid") )
but such a thing as personal privacy was still respected--and certain
activities were strenuously kept under wraps lest careers, shows, films, and
studios be ruined. Now, in lowbrow confessional culture we know who sleeps
with whom, who is pregnant by whom, and who is a drunk or a druggie. One
has to get it on with an alpaca today to cause a scandal.

It does seem that you are not very positive about a person when you sense
they are gay. I have seen enough of your posts over the past few years to
know that this is true and it demeans you.
I specifically thought that you were the one who used those terms and have
no desire to go back and check. The point is that your posts and JN are
becoming the same in my mind. I apologize if that was not you (although I
am pretty sure it was.) When either of you get on your rants, I just shake
my head and wonder why do they lower themselves this way? I have no problem
with your opinion but are these opinions that you are want to be identified
with? Most of my family was not very gay friendly when I was growing up
(I am 62) and my first encounter with being propositioned terrified me and
I could not get away from there fast enough. I was 18 and must have
stumbled across some place where gays met in downtown Chicago without
knowing what I was doing. I did not even know what I was afraid of and it
turns out that I had taken on the attitudes of others without ever thinking
about what I was doing. With some education I learned that gays do not
choose their lifestyle anymore than hetero's choose their lifestyle. They
don't force their lifestyle on others and you surely must know how talented
many of them are. They make up about ten per cent of the population. Gay
people are as different from each other as straight people are. When you
put someone down because they are gay (or you think they are gay) does it
make you feel more macho or something? I can't imagine that a man who is as
confident as you say you are needs to take such cheap shots at others. I
admire talent, pure and simple, and really could care less about how less
talented people put talented people down.

You "specifically thought" yet you know these statements to be true about

Generally.
Where have I taken potshots at gays lately? I think i'm more comfortable
with Matt Cedeno or Kevin Spirtas being gay than you are. At least i'm able
to acknowledge they are gay and move on. The rest of y'all are so defensive
that even when you proclaim that it doesn't matter what their sexuality is,
you do it in such a way as to shut down all discourse. If it doesn't matter
who they sleep with, then what does it matter if I talk about it on this
forum?
I've long since accepted John Travolta is gay. Doesn't mean I don't like
him. I don't think he's a very good actor and he takes on some really bad
movies. I like Tom Cruise as an actor, even though he's probably asexual.
Andy Dick is one of the funniest comedians around. I like his show. But he's
bisexual. I like James Van Der Beeks performance on Dawson's Crack, even
though he's gay. I mean, I buy him as a romantic lead, even though I don't
watch the show. He was pretty good in Texas Rangers, which I saw on video
recently.
Move along folks. Nothing to see here....

Yeah, I read that. However, to my surprise, Katherine Helmond has turned her
back on Jonathan Pintauro. And I think even Tony Danza. Considering how
liberal Hollywood is, you'd expect them to be a little more open-minded..
But Katherine Helmond was very, very angry at Jonathan and she was not
joking.
I've heard Jeremy Miller from Growing Pains is gay as well, but I think the
person who said that had him confused with Jonathan Pintauro.
Did you know John Madden was gay? Chew on that fact for a while.
You can thank "soaps" for that. Those who watch these shows shouldn't throw
stones. You are part of a culture that glamourizes promiscuity and deceitful
behavior.
"Promiscuity and deceitful behavior" has always been glamorized in the US
but for the few years in New England under the dour rule of the Brewster,
Edwards, and Mather clans and their Roundheads Fathers over the ocean. John
Paul Sartre enjoyed soaps (and Disney cartoons) as do I and presumbbly you
Will you quibble with him?
On a second point, we live in The Age of Confession. The High Confessional
has destroyed the literary autobiography.. The Low Confessional is the
province of Maury and Jerry. Confessionals are entertainment open to
everyone. Confessionals level the playing field so to speak where we all
see ourselves and can feel smarter and cleverer and prettier than those
clods who go public. Even the Rockefellers indulge. My favorite
confessionals are":christian." The first modern confessional that I
remember clearly was Eldridge Clever on the PTL Club--or was it 700 Club?--
after America's favorite rapist turned toy gun revolutionary left the
fashion design business and hit the sawdust trail. Things went downhill
from there. Today, anything goes, and it has nothing to do with glamour,
but everything to do with self-aggrandizement and narcissism. For some
reason celebrities--or even worse, the 15-minute famers-- get props when
they confess to the most ghastly offenses or better yet, perform them on
national television. One used to be ashamed of certain acts, of certain
situations in one's life--or at least practice discretion. Now, it's about
attention-getting and acceptance. I've been married 6 times, and I beat all
my wives and then I went into rehab and now I've joined Calvary Chapel and
everything is great. APPLAUSE!
Maybe some people find this uplifting I can't imagine why. But note that
it is only praiseworthy if a celebrity or talk show bumbler indulges in
this public display of bad taste. If you confessed on this list that you
drank 3 bottles of Jack Daniels Black a day for 7 years do you think
anybody would care? They'd call you a lush and be done with you. .
The celebrity media whores all this confessional crap around and the people
slurp it up, because they're not given anything of substance. They don't
know any better. I'm sure that if tomorrow, nobody knew what Thao or
Kevin's sex lives entailed or we never had to look at a pregnant Courtney
Love or Demi Moore again, we'd all be fine with it. Do people really care
what celebrities do or think or how they dress or for whom they vote? The
truth is that celebrities deserve a private life as does anybody else. If
they want to flaunt their sex lives or bad habits or their politics, that's
their cheap business. But plenty of them don't want to.

Ice, I gave you my impression of what I have read of yours recently and have
no desire to go back and cite specifics. Someone else's sex life is not
something I give much thought to but perhaps that is a function of my age.
Thank you for taking the time to provide some comments about these actors
which show that you have some appreciation of the talents they have. I
don't care for Travolta as an actor either, I agree that Andy Dick is very
funny. I enjoy Cruise. I finally rented Vanilla Sky to see what that is
all about. I don't see myself as being defensive on the subject (as you
suggest) because there is nothing to defend. I have no personal stake in
these people and I am content with who I am. My interest in sex dwindled
when I got into my 50's and being on Prozac didn't help much either.<G> I
don't like the few word flip answers, that is not my style so if I got too
wordy for your taste, that is your problem (to use your own words.) I
noticed JN is still in her manic stage, I wish people would stop quoting her
in their posts. If Andy Dick is bisexual, doesn't that mean that he just
has twice as much fun?

Actually, I read that his name in real life is Danny Pinaturo (with no
second "A", apparently) and that his character's name was Jonathan
Bower (or Bauer? I'm not sure. One website I saw said Bower, so I'm
going with that.)
I've heard a lot of rumors about Jeremy Miller who was "Ben" from
Growing Pains. This isn't the first I've heard of it. I've heard Gay
and Bi rumors about Jeremy. The boy who portrayed Fred Savage's older
brother on "Growing Pains" is gay, too, and very loud and proud about
it. He's totally out of the closet and quite politically active. I saw
him in an interview and I read that part of his political activism
stemmed from his lover dying not too long ago of AIDS. Apparently the
boyfriend acquired AIDS from an earlier relationship and quite
fortunately never passed it on to him, though.
(WHO IS JOHN MADDEN???)
MacKenzie Astin, the redheaded little kid from the last one or two
seasons of "The Facts of Life" (Sean Astin's brother and Patty Duke's
son) has always struck me as another red flag possibility, but I've
never heard whether he is or is not. Mac, (who I think is in his late
20's now) appears in movies every now and again, though, and unlike
Sean (who's a father now and seems to be very straight, although I
heard he recently split from his little girl's mom) he seems *VERY*
gay still to this very day.
JN
I didn't even know that! But years ago I called that one.

And HERE is my beef with most of your posts, Icebreaker. You seem to generalize
every female soap viewer on this board (not to mention every soap viewer) as a
"bored housewife" or a "fat housewife." Here, you once again lump EVERYONE into
one group and say we ALL want to deny that these guys are gay, when that is not
the case with everyone on this ng.
Like I said, I could have told you about the kid from DQ:MW when that show was
still in production. But like others, I have a problem with the allegation
against JVDB. You substantiated evidence of Kevin but I think the one about
James is pure speculation.
Margie
And movies and non-Daytime TV DON'T do that???!!! The characters on Passions

They didn't try to out John Wesley Shipp...they succeeded. Your friend is
gay as a goose. Funny thing is, the tabs outed him back in 1990 when his CBS
show, The Flash, had come on the air. Now that he plays Dawson's father on
Dawson's Creek, he's been romantically linked to James Van Der Beek. He even
got fired from that show because of the relationship.
Travolta made have suddenly discovered his newfound heterosexuality, but up
until 1990 he was quite happy having sex all over the place with different
men. The Church of Scientology has quite an extensive file on his
proclivities and have used it to keep him from leaving the organization.
They've also used it to marry him off to another Scientologist.
> And HERE is my beef with most of your posts, Icebreaker. You seem to

The ones who are consistently denying that Kevin Spirtas is gay or
bisexual....the ones who refuse to believe anything about John Revolta or
James Van Der Beek or John Wesley Shipp...yes, they are fat, bored
housewives.
> Like I said, I could have told you about the kid from DQ:MW when that show

Well, most allegations start off as speculation with circumstantial evidence
until an actor finally comes out of the closet. For years Boy George was
chastising George Michael about being in the closet regarding his sexuality.
There had been rumors and careless whispers for years about GM, but until he
actually got caught performing a lewd act in a public restroom he'd probably
just be content to stay in the closet.
Now i've seen some circumstantial evidence regarding JVDB that leads me to
believe he's 100% gay (this boy will be getting a divorce within 5 years).
JWS is 125% gay.
I'm going to retract a statement about Spirtas being bisexual because I
don't think that is particularly noteworthy. I think everyone is bisexual or
has the potential to be bisexual if the circumstances are right (i.e. like
prison, a deserted island, single gender private school, etc...)
Incidentally, I have no clue where Thaos Penghliss preferences lie. However,
he used to costar with one time Bond candidate Antony Hamilton on the
1988-1990 series Mission:Impossible. Antony was a self-proclaimed slut who
acquired AIDS and died back in 1994 or 1995. Hamilton might've been the
next James Bond, but the producers found out he was gay and decided it was
too big a chance to take.

No. I have a brain in my head. Do the math baby. Why are you so quick to say
that these people aren't gay? Are you ashamed of their sexuality? If their
sexuality is no big deal to you, then quit trying to automatically suggest
they aren't gay.

Ice, taking another example from life and applying your logic to the
situation... well, we all defecate at least once a day so why not discuss
this aspect of our lives? It is no big deal and I am sure that some people
have an interesting approach to the subject so why should we deny it?
Answer: BECAUSE SOME THINGS ARE PRIVATE, THAT IS WHY!
I don't think people see actors as real people so when they fantasize about
them sexually, they are just a body with the actor's face on it. When a
man spots a woman with nice breasts or ass and he gets turned on, does it
matter what her preferences are? I don't think so. Maybe your aim is to
knock actors off of their pedestals because you want people to see them for
who they are. Sorry, Ice, it is not going to happen. I liked Rosie for
years since her early comedy days and most recently on her TV show. When
she finally outed herself, it made no difference to me because I would never
know that part of her anyway. I think when you get older you will
understand. Hey, maybe you missed your calling as a gossip columnist?
Maybe you can give that Hollywood flake some competition. Now there is a
solid upstanding career choice. I have seen her on TV a few times, the one
who guessed where Harrison would be married. What an ugly bitch she it, you
have got to at least be better looking than she is? <G>

Whutchootalkin' bout Spanglebaby? Wasn't Jason Hervey the older brother of

Mackenzie lost part of an ear or a toe during the filming of a certain
movie. i can't remember which movie it was, but that probably explains why
he's gay.
You have me mistaken with somebody else. I never said that. I simply
asked, "who cares?" A person's sexuality is not relevant to an acting role
or to their ability to perform any job-- nor is somebody's sexuality the
public's business particularly. It's a US thing. In much of the Western
world a person's sexual behavior means nothing; but USians are obsessed
with sex, so it means everything. I've spent my life with queers. Why;
would I be ashamed? You're the one making the big deal out of individual
sexuality, and I've seen you do it for years.

It's not their sexuality that intrigues me...it's the ostrich mentality of
