Did anyone think that the music in the Dawson's Creek premiere episode
was a little oversued.

Two examples: The Cumbawumba song when they're going to school and the
song (drawing a blank on the name) where Jen and Dawson are sitting on
the dock.

By the way, Katie Holmes is featured in E Online's Hot 16 stars to watch
it 1998. Find it here:

I, for one, am incredibly sick of that Paula Cole song after watching
all those promos for the premiere.

Excruciatingly. It totally overpowered the rest of the soundtrack at
many points, and seemed to be there to say "Look how hip *we* are!"

Actually I disagree completely. I liked the use of the music. There were
several scenes, and the music seemed to fit them all well. The only time I
might agree is the ChumbaWumba song, but even that I think was done well.

I totally agreed. It kinda seemed like they used all that music cause
they felt they had to somehow carry the show. It's good on its own, it
doesn't need all that music...

I thought the music was a little overused myself. It was like they were
trying to say, "HEY! Look at this show! We're cool!" The volume of the
music was also too high. But it seems they remedied that problem
somewhat in the second episode. Other than the music, I thought the
pilot was produced very well.

It was the music that added to the overall appeal of the show, I was
like. Here is this show with all the music I like to hear and a good
plot with excellent actors. I thought that the music in the first
episode was very fitting and thought the Pretenders at the end of the
first episode was the best song possible for that scene.

FYI: The song that played while Jen and Dawson were by the lake was "As I
Lay me Down" by
Sophie B. Hawkins. Great song!
