The WB's Official Episode Description

Wednesday, May 14 - (8:00 - 10:00 pm ET)
"Special Two-Hour Series Finale May 14 (8-10 pm ET)" TV-14, D, L

A JOYOUS REUNION TURNS TO HEARTBREAK AT THE CREEK - Five years have passed
and everyone is reunited in Capeside for a special wedding, but the happy
reunion is cut short after the group learns that one of their own has been
harboring a heartbreaking secret. Since they were last together, Dawson
(James Van Der Beek) has been living in Los Angeles producing his
autobiographical television series 'The Creek,' but has never forgotten the
love of his life; Joey (Katie Holmes) is a successful book editor living in
New York with her boyfriend (guest star Jeremy Sisto, "Six Feet Under") but
comes home to realize she still loves her childhood sweethearts; Pacey
(Joshua Jackson) is the owner of the new Ice House and still carries a torch
for Joey, although he continues his pattern of getting into trouble with
older women, including his newest conquest (guest star Virginia Madsen); Jen
(Michelle Williams) is a single mom living with Grams (Mary Beth Peil) and
managing an art gallery in Soho; and Jack (Kerr Smith) is a teacher at
Capeside High and has fallen in love with a secretly gay man. The first hour
was directed James Whitmore, Jr. and written by series creator Kevin
Williamson & Maggie Friedman. The second hour was directed by Greg Prange
and written by series creator Kevin Williamson & Maggie Friedman.

TV Guide's Episode Description

Dawson's Creek
120 min.
In the two-hour series finale set five years in the future, Dawson, Joey,
Pacey and Jen return to Capeside to attend a wedding. Their reunion turns
bittersweet, however, when one of the friends reveals a heartbreaking
secret. Series creator Kevin Williamson co-wrote the script for the episode.

-There is only one script for the finale. There are no multiple endings
floating around. (credit Roxy at FF)

-The following is an episode summary from a memo that was sent out by The
WB Network to an affiliate:

Series Finale 5/14
Five years have passed, everyone returns to Capeside for Gail's wedding.
Dawson is a television writer, Joey is recently engaged and a book editor,
Pacey is a bartender, and Jen is a single mother. As Dawson readies himself
to tell Joey that he still loves her, Jen collapses at the wedding reception
and everyone learns that she is dying. As Jen is on her deathbed, she calls
Andie to Capeside and Andie and Pacey reignite their relationship leaving
Joey to admit to Dawson that she is in love with him and they live happily
ever after...

-According to a TV Guide interview with Kevin Williamson, the finale will
jump ahead five years into the future and will center around the wedding of
one of the main characters. The following are a few excerpts from the
interview:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
TVGO: Who will Joey end up with: Dawson or Pacey?
Williamson: No comment.... [but] I'm going to twist and turn it throughout
the two hours. The interesting thing will be, what ever happened to Dawson
and his career? Where is he five years later? You know how people ask you,
"Where do you want to be in five years?" Well, we're going to find out.
There will be some surprises in terms of who shows up, who's doing what,
where so-and-so went, who ended up with whom... And the surprises start
right in the first frame. There are other surprises we plant throughout the
entire episode. And it's all centering around a wedding.

TVGO: Anything else?
Williamson: Quite frankly, I want Joey to make a decision. I think the
last couple of seasons I've gotten frustrated with her character sort of
being here, there, everywhere. Also, it's going to be fun to play up... you
know how during the first two seasons it was a very self-aware type show?
Well, it's going to be fun to watch our characters rendered speechless. I'm
going to finally render them speechless. There's going to be a lot of laughs
and tears. And we're going to do the whole tear-jerking ending.

TVGO: Speaking of tears, is there any truth to the rumor that a major
character will die?
Williamson: (pausing) I won't say no, and I won't say yes.

**END HANDWRITTEN**

INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT

A young teenage boy's bedroom. The walls are adorned with everything
Spielberg. Two teens, no more than fifteen, sit on the bed. A girl-- SAM and
a boy-- COLBY are in a dramatic outpouring of adolescent angst. It's very
familiar.
COLBY: Feelings and emotions have an inexplicable way of manifesting
themselves in subconscious, and not always, self-aware behavior.
SAM: Your verbal deconstruction of teen angst is really outdated, Colby.
There's nothing going on between me and Petey. He's just a friend-- your
best friend, I might add. I have no subconscious subliminal intentions
towards him.
COLBY: Just a friend, huh?
SAM: Yes -- friend. That's all. Period. End of sentence, dissertation, and
post-modern diatribe. Now, can we go to sleep?
Sam falls back onto the pillow, wanting desperately to end this argument.
Clearly, it's pushed too many buttons in her. Colby falls back onto his side
of the bed. Exasperated. A quiet moment as the tension settles. Finally...
COLBY: Is Petey a friend the same way you and I are "just" friends?
Sam thinks about this long and hard. Not quite sure how to answer. Not
sure she should...then...
SAM: Yeah...of, course...
A long moment as Colby realizes a painfully sad truth.
COLBY: That's what I was afraid of.
The CAMERA PULLS BACK revealing two awkward teens squirming in a bed of
confused and conflicted feelings for one another. The SCREEN fades to black
revealing an END TITLE CARD:

-Dawson is at a meeting in the writers' room and there is bickering over how
to end the season of "The Creek". They say things like, "But he's her
soulmat!" and "But he's the brooding, exciting one!" and "But people don't
want to be surprised in a finale, they want to be satisfied." (credit Monica
M at FF)

-Dawson doesn't come back to Capeside to declare his love to Joey. He's
married to his career and involved with Rebecca. Things happen once they see
each other. (credit Stela at FF)

-Pacey is involved with a married woman named Maddy. He knows it is wrong
and is not in love with her. Her husband is not happy about it. (credit
karensisco at FF)

-Gale's wedding is primarily just a backdrop for everything else that
happens in the finale. (credit Stela at FF)

-Dawson is happy for his mother getting remarried. (credit Stela at FF)

-Joey initially plans to skip Gale's wedding, but decides to go after she
finds the engagement ring Christpher has bought. (credit karensisco at PN)

-Joey goes to Capeside because she realizes that Christopher is not "the
one". (credit karensisco at FF)

-In almost every Dawson/Joey scene in 623, the vibe between them is
described as being awkward. (credit Jess at PN)

-Dawson and Joey's first scene in the finale is at a gas station where they
just happen to run into each other. (credit Kimba at FF)

-The following is from the D/J gas station scene that was filmed, as
witnessed by the source; it is not the exact scripted scene:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
There are two cars that look just a like parked beside each other at the
gas pumps. Dawson walks out of the gas station talking on his cell phone.
He's walking towards the cars.
DAWSON: Why does he want to talk to me?....Well, I'm the writer, he's the
actor...yeah sure...
Dawson walks to the car on his right and tries to open the door. It won't
open, so he gets his keys out and tries to unlock it. It won't unlock.
DAWSON: Dammit!
VOICE ON CELL: What's wrong?
DAWSON: My car door won't open.
Joey walks up behind him smiling.
JOEY: That's because it's my car.
Dawson turns around. Joey smiles. Dawson is very shocked to see her.
JOEY: (points to car on left) This one is yours.
Dawson stares at her. Joey walks toward him smiling really big.
JOEY: It's good to see you Dawson.
DAWSON: Jo, what are you doing here? Mom said you wasn't going to...
JOEY: Things changed.
They stare at each other.
JOEY: Could we hug or something because this is getting really awkward.
DAWSON: Yes!
They hug. It's a hug that lasts forever. After a few minutes, they pull
away.
JOEY: Did you ever get any of my emails?
DAWSON: Yeah! I've just been really busy so...
Joey nods.
VOICE ON CELL: Dawson, where the hell are you?
Dawson holds his phone up to his ear.
DAWSON: Sorry...um...
Dawson holds his finger up to Joey telling her to hold on a sec. He walks
over a little ways. A car pulls in behind Joey and honks the horn.
MAN: Come on lady, let's get it moving. I dont have all day.
Joey looks at him. She stands there a minute. Then she walks over to
Dawson.
JOEY: (whispers) I'll let you go.
DAWSON: No, Joey wait.
JOEY: It's okay.
Joey walks to her car and starts to get in.
MAN: Come on lady! Move it!
JOEY: (to man) All right!
Joey gets in and drives off. Dawson watches her leave.

***JOEY GOES BACK TO CAPESIDE AND VISITS PACEY. THE FOLLOWING IS A PORTION
OF THE SCRIPTED SCENE BETWEEN THEM:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Joey's eyes drift to the wall behind the bar where a poster of "THE CREEK"
hangs. She smiles.
PACEY: Our boy did good. Can you believe that little independent movie he
made -- got turned into the hit teen soap of the WB?
JOEY: You've done good too, Pacey.
PACEY: And you.
A moment between them. It's quiet and nice. Finally...
JOEY: How does it feel to see your life portrayed on television week after
week?
PACEY: Dawson's been kind. He could have really stuck it to me. But, that
Sam girl. A mixed up wreck that one.
JOEY: Thanks.
PACEY: I'm sorry, I just have to hug you again. God, it's good to see you.
Pacey unexpectedly gives her another hug. Joey hugs back. The moment full
of emotional history.
That 'thing' between them, that 'it', that 'spark'. It's still exists.
And, it's potent.
Just then, Joey looks over Pacey's shoulder to find Dawson standing at the
end of the bar... watching. She breaks away as Pacey turns and sees him too.
Silence.

End of Act Two.

-Some extras have reported seeing a wedding scene being filmed with Dawson
and Joey as the bride and groom.

-The D/J wedding is just a dream that Dawson is having in 623. (credit Stela
at FF)

-Dawson's "dream" wedding has been filmed. Pacey is in the audience. The
director told Josh to look pouty and act like he had lost her. (credit
kbastide at PN)

-The D/J wedding scene is not very long. It starts with them already at the
altar facing each other and holding hands. Joey starts off by saying
something like, "I love you so much" and they go back and forth, bringing up
all the major aspects of their relationship. For example, Dawson says
something about her forgiving him after he turned in her father and she says
he stood by her after she realized Jack was gay. During that particular
line, the director told Kerr that they would show a shot of Jack and to roll
his eyes and look a little annoyed that she brought that up. They continue
talking, and Dawson says, :And then I dated that actress and you were with
that Eddie guy..." They look at each other and kiss. The audience claps, and
that is the end of the scene. (credit kbastide at PN)

***THE FOLLOWING IS THE SCRIPTED D/J DREAM WEDDING:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
EXT. LEERY HOUSE - BEAUTIFUL WEDDING - DAY

The lawn outside the Leery home is all done up for this beautiful wedding.
At the ALTAR, Joey stands in a GORGEOUS WEDDING DRESS, facing a handsome
Dawson in his TUXEDO. Yes -- they are the bride and groom! They look deep
into each other's eyes, and very earnestly say their vows.
JOEY: We've been through so much, Dawson. So many good times and bad. When
I loved you, but you loved Jen. When you finally loved me, but I needed to
be on my own, so I left you for Jack, and then he realized he was gay...
DAWSON: When I turned your dad in for trafficking cocaine, and you said
you'd never speak to me again...
JOEY: But I did. That fall, I offered myself to you at that party after
you crashed your dad's boat...
DAWSON: But I refused, for some reason... And so you fell for Pacey.
JOEY: While you were losing your virginity to Jen...
DAWSON: And then that time we finally slept together...
JOEY: Only to get into a fight the next day, thus ruining everything we'd
waited so long for...
DAWSON: And then I dated that actress, and you dated that guy Eddie...
JOEY: And the years passed... Until finally here we are. Saying "I Do".
Because this is the way it should be. The only way it can be for
star-crossed ill-fated @#%$. And so, I do.
DAWSON: I do too.
Dawson and Joey KISS. The ATTENDEES CHEER. Suddenly, Dawson and Joey have
become Sam and Colby. From smewhere a CAMERA CREW appears... A DIRECTOR
steps out of the wings SCREAMING "Cut. Print. That's a wrap."

INT. LEERY HOUSE - DAWSON'S BEDROOM - MORNING

Dawson wakes up in bed. Wide eyed. He dreamed the whole thing. Turns over
to see a NOTE on his pillow.

"SEE YA LATER, JOEY"

Dawson stares at the note.

-In 623, the five friends hang out at Pacey's place of business on the night
before the wedding. (credit Stela at FF)

-Joey goes to Pacey's restaurant to meet up with everyone and she and Pacey
talk. Dawson walks in, and it's tense between the three of them for a
moment. (credit Monica M at FF)

-Dawson and Pacey share a scene in 623. There are several scenes that
include the entire gang or the entire gang minus Jen. (credit karensisco at
PN)

-Dawson and Joey are weird around each other in 623. They see each other at
a gas station early on and share a hug that goes on too long. Dawson gets a
call on his cell phone, and Joey has to move her car because she is blocking
someone. Later, after the gang hangs out at Pacey's restaurant and after
Pacey and Dawson have a conversation alone, Joey climbs through Dawson's
window, and they catch up. Dawson asks her to spend the night and it's
awkward with them in bed together. This is when he has his dream of marrying
her. In the dream, they exchange vows and talk about overcoming obstacles.
At the wedding, Dawson and Pacey go to ask Joey to dance at the same time,
but Pacey reaches her first. When Pacey and Joey are dancing, Jen and Dawson
cut in and they swap partners so that Dawson and Joey are dancing. Dawson
laughs that joey seems nervous. Then Jen tells Joeys to take Pacey back
because he is stepping on her feet. From there, we cue the kiss. Pacey spots
Maddy, whose husband beat him up earlier, and kisses Joey in an attempt to
make her jealous. Joey is surprised, but they can't talk about what happened
because Jen collapses. (credit Monica M at FF)

-There is a scene in which Doug takes Pacey to the hospital for minor
injuries sustained. (credit karensisco at PN)

-The dance sequence in 623 echoes the dance sequence in Four to Tango
between Dawson, Jen, Pacey, and Joey. This is how Pacey and Joey get to
dance twice. Jen initiates the switching of partners, but not as a fluffing
device. It's more comical. (credit karensisco at PN)

-The following is dialogue from the dance sequence, as witnessed by the
source. It is not how it was exactly scripted:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Pacey is all bruised up with a cut on his forehead.
JOEY: What happened to you? Did you get into a fight with the priest after
the ceremony?
PACEY: Something like that.
Pacey won't look at her.
JOEY: What's going on, Pace?
PACEY: What's going on?
Joey nods.
PACEY: I have realized that every time I'm around you, I'm happy.
Joey doesn't know what to say about this. Then, Jen and Dawson walk up.
JEN: Hey, can we switch partners because Dawson won't let me lead.
Pacey nods. Pacey and Jen are together now and Dawson and Joey are.
JOEY: (smiles) Hey.
DAWSON: Hey.
They dance for a minute.
DAWSON: So, you left in a hurry this morning.
JOEY: Well, I had to get dressed. And you were snoring. Plus, I couldn't
take the whole deja-vu thing, you know, with all the colors swirling around
like when you take an acid. Not that I've ever taken an acid.
DAWSON: You're nervous.
JOEY: What?
DAWSON: You ramble when you're nervous.
JOEY: What is this? Rag on Joey Potter day?
DAWSON: (smiles) I like it when you're nervous.(pause) I like it that I
can tell when you're nervous. (pause) I like it that I can STILL make you
nervous.
Joey stares at him surprised.
DAWSON: What?
JOEY: Wow, rambling Joey Potter becomes speechless in five seconds flat.
Just then, Jen and Pacey appear.
JEN: Okay, can we switch again? He's stepping on my toes.
PACEY: It's a conspiracy.
Now it's back to the original ones that started. Joey sees the women Pacey
had a fling with.
JOEY: I think we have an audience.
Pacey looks.
PACEY: Aw man.
JOEY: You haven't changed a bit. Still breaking hearts Pacey?
PACEY: Yeah, her heart, my jaw.
They dance a little longer. Joey keeps looking at her.
JOEY: Is she gonna hurt me?
Pacey laughs.
PACEY: Would you help me out?
JOEY: How?
PACEY: Well, something like this...
Pacey bends her back and kisses her. When he pulls her back up, Joey has a
look on her face showing that she felt something. All of a sudden, we hear
Dawson...
DAWSON: Jen!
Jen collapses. Everyone runs to her.

-The P/J kiss on the dance floor is complete with a dramatic dip of Joey by
Pacey. They look like they are going to kiss again, but Jen collapses.
(credit kbastide at PN)

-There are subtle hints in 623 that Pacey and Joey are not over each other,
subconsciously or not. This is revealed through their interactions with each
other, as well as with other people. Both of them are afraid to commit to
long-lasting relationships, and the kiss awakens feelings in Joey that she's
been supressing. (credit karensisco at PN)

-Dawson is about to admit that he has feelings for Joey when they are
dancing at the wedding. Then she and Pacey kiss and go in for another, but
Jen collapses. (credit Roxy at FF)

-Dawson is not about to tell Joey that he loves her right before Jen
collapses. Jen is with Dawson when it happens. (credit Stela at FF)

-The following is from the scene where Jen collapses, as witnessed by the
source:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Dawson is crouched down beside Jen. Grams runs up.
GRAMS: Jennifer! Oh my God!
Jack runs up.
GRAMS: What's wrong? What happened?
GRAMS: Jen! She needs her pills!
PACEY: She just took some.
GRAMS: Oh no! This shouldn't be happening!
Grams is holding Jen now.
GRAMS: Dawson, go call an ambulance!
Dawson runs off.
JACK: Grams, what's going on?
GRAMS: Jennifer. She's sick.
JACK: What do you mean she's sick? She was fine!
GRAMS: It's her heart...Oh Jen, my baby.
Grams is rubbing Jen's hair out of her face, saying a prayer.

-After Jen collapses, Pacey, Joey, and Dawson are all driving to the
hospital. Pacey says something like, "Ooh, the triangle members are all
here." Dawson responds with, "Count on you to say something inappropriate at
a time like this." Later, Pacey drives them home and asks Joey, "Did you see
Dawson's face when I dropped him off first?" She tells him that she feels
their last kiss was so trivial in light of Jen's collapsing, and he kisses
her again. (credit Monica M at FF)

***AFTER THE TRIANGLE EXCHANGE IN THE CAR, CHRISTOPHER CALLS JOEY ON HER
CELL PHONE, AND DAWSON RESPONDS WITH "...AND THE TRIANGLE HAS BECOME A
SQUARE." AFTER DROPPING DAWSON OFF, PACEY AND JOEY HAVE A WHOLE DIFFERENT
CONVERSATION THAT TAKES PLACE BETWEEN THEIR DISCUSSION ABOUT THE KISS AT THE
WEDDING AND PACEY KISSING HER AGAIN. (credit karensisco at PN)

***IN THE CAR, PACEY AND JOEY ARE TALKING ABOUT IF THEY EVER THINK ABOUT
WHAT LIFE WOULD BE LIKE IF THEY WERE TOGETHER. (credit Jess at PN)

***THE NEXT MORNING (AFTER THE P/J KISS IN THE CAR), JOEY CALLS CHRISTOPHER
AND BREAKS UP WITH HIM. (credit karensisco at PN)

-They all find out the news that Jen is dying that day. Pacey visits her and
says something about how "Friends don't steal, they borrow." Jen asks him if
he is stealing of borrowing his best friend's @#%$ and tells him there is a
wonderful girl out there for him to love, and Pacey asks for her number.
Right on cue, Andie walks in. He is taken aback by how lovely she looks.
They talk. (credit Monica M at FF)

-Jen doesn't even use the word "@#%$", and she is just joking about whether
Pacey "stole" or "borrowed" Joey from Dawson. (credit karensisco at PN)

***WHEN PACEY GOES TO VISIT JEN, HE BRINGS A TAPE WITH HIM THAT HE SAYS HE
BORROWED FROM DAWSON IN 1999. JEN JOKES WITH HIM STEALING IT, AND THAT'S
WHEN PACEY SAYS THE "FRIENDS DON'T STEAL" LINE. AT THIS POINT, HE AND JEN
TALK ABOUT JOEY. PACEY BASICALLY FEELS LIKE IT'S A LOST CAUSE, AND JEN TELLS
HIM THERE'S A WONDERFUL GIRL OUT THERE FOR HIM. THIS IS WHEN ANDIE WALKS IN.
SHE AND PACEY TALK IN A SEPARATE SCENE LATER. (credit karensisco at PN)

***THE SCENE IN WHICH PACEY BRINGS THE TAPE THAT HE BORROWED FROM DAWSON IS
THE SECOND HOSPITAL SCENE THAT HE SHARES WITH JEN. (credit Jess at PN)

-Pacey is destroyed by what is happening to Jen. He cries when he goes into
her room first. It's him that helps her get through the "everyone knows"
phase. (credit Kimba at FF)

-Later, Joey is talking to Jen. She is telling her how she's always known
who she's wanted. Jen asks her who she is talking about and right on cue,
Dawson walks in to take Jen out to the garden to film and video message for
Amy. Joey's gaze lingers on Dawson. (credit Monica M at FF)

***JOEY HAS A CONVERSATION WITH JEN ABOUT HOW SHE'S ALWAYS KNOWN WHO SHE
WOULD WIND UP WITH. SHE SAYS THE ONLY CHOICE THERE EVER WAS TO MAKE WAS IF
SHE WAS READY FOR COMPLETE COMMITMENT OR NOT. NOW, SHE IS. (credit Roxy at
FF)

-Dawson and Joey have a scene after the first time Dawson visits Jen in the
hospital. There is no fighting between Dawson and Joey. (credit Roxy at FF)

-Jen has been sick for awhile. She and Grams are both away of her illness
before she collapses. (credit Roxy at FF)

-Jen is the A-Storyline in the finale, along with how everyone takes the
news. It is heartbreaking. She has a lot of one-on-one interaction with
everyone, and any interaction between the other characters is directly tied
to her. She doesn't couple fluff, find religion, or have any contrived
deathbed goodbyes. She's just Jen. She wants to fight. She wants to be with
her daughter. She makes peace with herself. (credit Roxy at FF)

-Jen gives everyone some sage advice in 624 and they all end up taking it.

-Jen dies in the hospital in Capeside with Grams by her side. (credit

-Jen dies from a heart problem. (credit Kimba at FF)

-Grams still has cancer. (credit sharone at PN)

-Doug and Jack will adopt/raise Jen's daughter after Jen dies. (credit
sharone and karensisco at PN)

-Joey breaks up with Christopher over the phone. At the funeral, she tells
Pacey that although she loves Dawson dearly, she loves Pacey "the way a
woman loves a man." Pacey is shocked. It is obvious by her speech that she
has chosen Pacey and that he was the one she's wanted all along and was
running from all these years. Gale interrupts to hug them both, and then we
fade to the final D/J dock scene. (credit Monica M at FF)

-In the finale, Pacey and Joey are off laughing, having spaghetti fights,
making out, contemplating their relationship, and hooking up at Jen's
funeral. (credit Monica M at FF)

-The food fight is one scene between Pacey and Joey, and they sort of admit
that it's their way of grieving. They are laughing and trying to temporarily
get past what Jack told them about Jen and the hard day they spent at the
hospital. (credit Jess at PN)

-When Pacey and Joey are "hooking up" at the funeral, they are really just
having a moment in which Joey finally confesses her feelings to Pacey, and
it is twice interrupted (once by Bessie and once by Gale). (credit
karensisco at FF)

-The conversation between Pacey and Joey at the funeral comes about because
of something Jen said. She wasn't fluffing P/J, but just the opposite. Pacey
takes Jen's advice, which leads to that particular admission from Joey, who
is also taking Jen's advice. (credit Kimba at FF)

-Joey comforts Dawson about Jen in 624. (credit Monica M at FF)

-During the D/J dock scene, Dawson is sitting there upset about Jen. Joey
comes over and tells him that he should write a happy ending for his finale
because she can't take anymore sad endings. They are emotional, and Dawson
gives a speech about how it doesn't matter who ends up with whom because in
some "unearthly way", they will always end up together. At the end of the
scene, Dawson turns to see Alexander crawling up to Lily's window. She lives
in Dawson's room now. (credit Monica at FF)

-The following is some dialogue from the D/J dock scene, as witnessed by the
source. It is not the exact scripted scene and not all of the dialogue could
be heard by the source:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Dawson is sitting on a picnic table beside the docks. We see his laptop on
the table beside him. He is looking out at the creek. Dawson hears someone
coming up behind him. It's Joey. She comes up and sits down.
JOEY: How are you doing?
DAWSON: Surviving.
Joey looks out at the water. Then she sees his laptop.
JOEY: You writing?
DAWSON: Sort of. I'm having trouble thinking of an ending.
JOEY: Well, make it a happy one. I don't think I can take anymore sad
ones. Most of them just wind up being the death of it all.
DAWSON: I wish I was writing fiction because fiction is fiction. You know?

MORE DIALOGUE, then:

Joey holds his hand.
JOEY: (smiles) Well, you're the big writer.
DAWSON: (smiles) I've just always pictured it as me and you...always.
Joey smiles. In the script it says it's a smile that shows all the
friendship, history, and love they did and still share.
JOEY: I love you,Dawson.
DAWSON: (smiles) And I love you, Jo.
They start to kiss when they hear laughing behind them. They turn their
heads around and see Lily and Alexander running around playing tag. Joey and
Dawson laugh as they watch. Then, they see Lily up in Dawson's room and
Alexander climbing the ladder.
LILY: Come on,Alexander! You can do it! Just a few more steps!
Joey laughs again. Then she and Dawson look at each other. They smile and
touch foreheads.
DAWSON: You and me.
JOEY: (smiles) Always.
They touch each other's face and close their eyes smiling. Then, Joey lays
her head on Dawson's shoulder as they look out at the water.

-The following is some of the scripted screen direction from the D/J dock
scene:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
She smiles at him. A smile filled with a lifetime of friendship, history,
and love.

AND...

She's laughing at Alexander who is very carefully, slowly climbing the
ladder to her. He's nervous and shaky. Dawson and Joey look back to each
other. They share a small smile. The image not lost on them...Joey reaches
out and gently wipes the tears from Dawson's face. Dawson, in return, does
the same thing. This leaves them intertwined--sweetly hugging.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--

-There is no triangle in the finale. In the last ten minutes, the D/J scene
is just about them and their history. It has nothing to do with Pacey. Joey
does not break Dawson's heart. They come to a mutual decision without Pacey
even being a factor. They are at peace. Dawson is happy at the end, but Jen
dying is very hard on him. (credit Roxy at FF)

-Dawson does finally realize that Pacey and Joey love each other. (credit
Roxy at FF)

***EVERY TIME PACEY AND JOEY SHARE A MOMENT, DAWSON IS SCRIPTED AS WATCHING.
(credit Roxy at FF)

-Dawson's role in the finale is to be devastated by Jen's death and realize
that ending up with Joey is not a big deal in comparison to that. (credit
Monica M at FF)

-After the D/J dock scene, we cut to Pacey and Joey watching "The Creek".
Sam says to Colby, "I don't want to wait for our lives to be over, Colby. I
want to know right now, what will it be?" amd then they kiss. Joey wipes
away a tear and says it was perfect. Pacey makes fun of her for crying. They
call Dawson to congratulate him together. We see Dawson on the other end of
the line, along with a framed picture of the main four. Dawson says, "Guess
what? I finally get to meet Spielberg!" Pacey and Joey are happy for him.
(credit Monica M at FF)

-Chronologically: Pacey attempts to let Joey go, but she doesn't (aka Joey's
romantic gesture); Dawson and Joey share a dock scene; we skip ahead to the
future with Pacey and Joey at their home. (credit karensisco at PN)

-The last act of 624 skips further ahead in time, so the ending establishes
that Pacey and Joey have been together for awhile. (credit Roxy at FF)

-Pacey has a new boat. However, it does not play a big part in any of the
P/J scenes. b](credit Roxy and karensisco at PN)[/b]

-The finale ends with Pacey and Joey together. It is made clear at the end
that it's Pacey and Joey who are together romantically. (credit Lianne at
FF, confirmed by Stela and Roxy)

-The finale ends with Pacey and Joey sitting on a couch watching Dawson's
television show, "The Creek". They call Dawson after they finish watching it
to tell him how much they loved it. The episode they watched has Sam and
Colby getting together at the end. (credit dcsucksbigtime at thewb.com
boards, confirmed by karensisco)

-Pacey and Joey kiss before they decide to call Dawson in L.A. (credit
karensisco at PN)

-The screen direction describes the last P/J kiss as being hot and romantic,
"The way it was and the way it will always be!" (credit sharone at PN)

-The following is from a scene of "The Creek", as witnessed by the source:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Sam comes through Colby's bedroom window and falls. He runs over to her
and picks her up.
SAM: I can't take this anymore, Colby. I don't want to wait for our lives
to be over...I want to know right now...what will it be?
Colby stares at her then suddenly kisses her. When they pull away, Sam
smiles.
COLBY: You and me...always.
They smiles at each other.

-There are montages in 624, but not of P/J or D/J. (credit Jenn at PN)

-The last few minutes of the finale is not exclusively P/J. There is some
Dawson and some of "The Creek", too. Finally, there is another two minutes
of six years worth of montages. (credit Roxy at FF)

-The following is the finale scripted stage directions for the series
finale:

Quote:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
A final montage.

Sweet and tender moments from the past six years.

Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, Jack, and any other images that remind an
audience of the journey taken. The laughter, the tears...the love that
flowed like an ever changing current through the lives of "Dawson's Creek."

Fade out.

THE END

I'd say I can live with the ending that comes through to me from your many
spoilers.

p/j ending, but not being an ending to d/j. it's something totally
different.

hope I can download the missing episodes (kazaa stopped being nice to me
right after 619 ;) and here in austria we'll probably have to wait months
and months for season 6...
