Funny how times gave changed. I just assumed all along that Happy Harry was
gay. The other day when he came on to Ms Stoddard I was left thinking "Who's
he trying to kid?"

My assumption is that Craig Slocum himself must have been incredibly
femme, and that, in spite of trying to play it 'straight', his tone and
mannerisms tell a much different story.

According to IMDb, his film career consisted solely of DS. If this is
true, I can't help but be curious as to how he got the job (and whether
either nepotism or the casting couch [yikes] played a part.) This is
not to cast any aspersions, or make any judgements whatsoever, on the
man's probable sexual orientation, only his 'acting.'

Strange and useless fact: there's a large chain of discount drugstores here in
wonderful Delaware called Happy Harry's. It gives out-of-staters a turn when
they have to go there for their pharmacopeia. <g>

I heard they were planning on making a gay Harry Johnson a major character!

First, he would go into a trance and started singing Judy Garland songs.

Then he'd raise an army of gay zombies who'd redecorate Collinwood.

Then he'd become a vampire who could only be repelled by potpourri instead
of garlic.

Jeez.... I'm so sick of these "what if they're gay???" threads....

In just a few years, in fact.
The character of Ron Updyke in the '74-'75 "Kolchak:Night Stalker" series
was almost certainly gay, though they never actually said he was.

"The character of Ron Updyke in the '74-'75 "Kolchak:Night Stalker"

..So much so that he sings with elation as
he gaily tells Kolchak of his upcoming trip to San Francisco for an
assignment in one episode!

During the mid-1970's gay characters began appearing with frequency on
network shows...anyone remember 'Hot L Baltimore'? ABC didn't have the
guts to make the character of Jack Tripper on 'Three's Company' an
actual gay man but around 1969 John Ritter played a male hooker who rips
off client Vic Morrow in
a segment of 'Hawaii Five-O'. Then there's the episode of "Streets of
San Francisco" with John Davidson playing a homosexual female
impersonator.

"....his film career consisted solely of DS. If this is true, I can't

Ah,,,,I think someone might have given Craig a spot on the show if they
DIDN'T have to sleep with him.

HAW HAW HAW!

You gotta love the "mirror scene" in THAT one!

And how could we forget the 2 part "Medical Center" from '75 where Robert
Reed gets the sex change? It'd be interesting to see now, since Reed
revealed he was gay before he died. (Bummer - you gotta love Papa Brady
too!)

I think the first major openly gay regular character on any television show
was Jody Dallas (Billy Crystal) on Soap in 1977-81. There was also an
occasional role of a gay cop on Barney Miller, as well as a gay couple who
got arrested for shoplifting now and then (the 12th pricinct was supposed
to be in Greenwich village).

And EVERYONE knows Mr. Ed was gay.

And we ALL know the secret meaning behind when Skipper called Gilligan
"little buddy."

And I'm sure everyone knows about when Dan Rather and Peter Jennings were
secretly married in Buenos Aires back in the early '80s.

I could go on and on....

There was no indication whatsoever that Harry Johnson was gay. In fact I
remember at least one occasion that he tried to flirt with Carolyn.

I thought of that show when reading this thread the other day! Didn't the gay
character on the program always enter with the Ted Baxter phrase, "Hi, Guys!?"

>And EVERYONE knows Mr. Ed was gay.

Nah, Mr. Ed was simply satanic, at least that's what a minister claimed. His
basic for such an accusation concerned the theme song from the series.
Supposedly, if you play it backwards, you hear, "The Source is Satan!"

Back when Rush Limbaugh wasn't taking himself so seriously, he did a hilarious
parody on this. Rush played a Slim Whitman record backwards, and the following
was heard:

"Beelzebub! Yes, it's me, the ol' devil himself, you found me out you little
rascal...lurking right here in the Slim Whitman record grooves! By the way,
where did you ever find a turntable that plays backwards? I've been trying to
find these for all my disciples so they can go around corrupting the youth of
America, and we can't find these backward turntables anywhere except in
ministers' houses...and we're not to anxious to go there!"

Gaydar: The ability of Gay persons to recognize other Gay persons, by reason
of association, impression or personal opinion.

When I saw Harry, my Gaydar registered a positive!

Uh-oh... Don't go there!!!

This is a no-no on this ng. Three years ago I touched on the topic of who was
gay on the show and was flamed so-o-o bad my modem smoked for a week.

I know there were several actors that were (and are) gay but some fans get all
bent out of shape at the very mention of this topic.

And isn't it funny that being bent is what the topic is all about anyway?

Maybe, maybe not. I've never heard anything about him, one way or another.

Actually, "Harry Johnson" is a pretty good gay porno pseudonym....

Or perhaps he could co-star in "Dick Shadows" along with Bandobras
Cocklins, Dr. Julia Humpme, Professor Strokes, Nookie Blair & of course,
Willie.

Apologies to all in advance!

Oh, the children of society, fearful of all they do not understand!

Exist to be a child of at least a 110,
or so, that you may perhaps begin to understand what truly is, and is
not, of import in life (or death).

The son of Nathan and Sukki Forbes
loved me so completely that I fear he offered up his own life rather
than be
the cause of destroying what he foolishly believed would be for my
greater good. (Oh my beloved, did I deserve to be cherished so?!)

Does his sacrifice have any less meaning because of the nature of the
love he held!! Did our earthly lives matter any less?

Did Stuart and I, and so many others, have less value as persons...less
worth in the eyes of Heaven...because of the way our persons found need
to express the love in our hearts?!
Ahhhhhhhhh!.....God's Death!!!

times I fear I shall be consumed by passion's fervor!"
