Let's face it.....Chicago or even Indianapolis would have been excellent
choices. I'm all for these charities....especially for them to raise lots of
money. But how can they do that when this show is playing in a hicktown with
one DS collector in residence? If Frid was truly interested in raising
charitable dollars for his performance he would go to a DS convention in a
MAJOR U.S. city where 1000's of fans would gladly pay extra or make a charitble
donation to see him. Instead, he is patronizing "ONE" DS fan in
"No-where's-ville". I live in the Midwest and would love to see Mr. Frid
without having to go through a "Deliverance" type of experience in order to see
him. What next? Mayberry? Hooterville? Or worse yet...Carpentersville, IL?
I hope that Mr. Frid will pick a REAL Midwestern city where his show will be
seen instead of Green Acres......where half of his audience will be friends or
relatives of Arnold Ziffel. Maybe Mr. Frid could rename his show..."Fools and
Farm Animals" for this illustrious Crawfordsville extravaganza!!
Still Waiting for the Midwestern Show .....Because this ain't it!!!!

Crawfordsville and never were heard from again. 1 year later, their film
footage was found."

Well, actually, I'm glad you brought it up, cuz the entire Crawfordville
local is an interesting thing. You see, I have a relative by the name of Uncle
Joe. He goes around helping people and stuff. You know, donates stuff and works
for charity and
helps old ladies cross the road and stuff, (sometimes kickin' and screamin'
even if she don't want to go, but that's only for her own good, ya see) , ..
Well, as someone once said in this newgroup a very long time ago "Only one
person was ever perfect, and he died a long time ago..." Well, the person erred
in stating that Uncle Joe was dead, but they were right when they said that he
was nothing short of immaculate. And short, too.
Crawfordville is a part of an ancient prophecy that states that Uncle Joe
will once day return there in the form of himself after a 15 day sojourn in
Hawaii to judge the shit-heads and the healers, the whiners and the true
servants, the sickly in need; evil grasper, and the true friend.
Ala a Michael Moore from the Heavens, Uncle Joe will strike down upon the
Evil-doers, not out of Evil, but out of the awful necessity to protect the
faithful. Be varned now, the Evil shall all go the way of Tom Selleck.
And to conclude, to quote Kate Winslet, in a line from one of my favorites
film, "STICK IT UP YOUR BOTTOM!!!!!!!!!" And with a cute Brit accent, too!
Respectfully Yours,
Rudy

How are you doing this when you are hosting your own Halloween party on that
weekend? Do you have reliable I-Ching wands that will allow you to be on the
east coast and then in the midwest on the same day?
Why are you so jealous over an event that wants to raise money for terminally
ill children?
Has sour grapes warped your thinking that much?

Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
I agree -- there has to be some other motivation. I mean, who goes and raises
money for local charities?
By the way, the word is "ulterior" not "alterior", LOL!! If you're gonna
troll, better pack the Dumb Troller's Dictionary. You are in desperate need of
it.
How funny that a DS fan would be so upset about the appearance of a DS actor
somewhere in the country. Were you as upset last year regarding Nancy
Barrett's benefit performance in a small town in the midwest?
As for Nancy Barrett's show last year, it was held to benefit the
renovation of a theatre near the area where she grew up.
If these DS "celebrities" have such star power.....why don't they use it
where it will do some real good.....and start scheduling charity performances
in cities with names that don't end in "ville"

As someone who happens to live in a town that ends in "ville," I resemble that
remark. LOL!
Personally, I am *thrilled* that a Dark Shadows star is performing within
driving distance of where I live. WHOO!!! HOOOOO!!!
::packing bags; ordering TripTik::
I know that some - not all, of course - people on the East and West coasts tend
to look at the map of the U.S. and see nothing but vast wasteland in between
L.A and N.Y. ;)
But there are plenty of folks in the middle section of the country who truly
enjoy good theater - and who appreciate helping out charity in the process. :)

It sounds as if the bitterness behind all these posts has to do with something
else than a concern over DS fans for they have several opportunties to see DS
actors this year.

If a DS "celebrity" chooses to bestow a visit on a small town to help their
local charity, then let the local people there support it. After all, they
are the beneficiaries. It is an extreme presumption on the part of the
promoters of these events to assume that DS fans across North America will
flock to any locale, no matter how remote, just because a DS actor is coming
out of hiding.....if they do, it won't be because they give a crap about the
charity. I suspect that there are not enough Crawfordsville natives with
congnizance of DS to fill an outhouse....and without a nationwide cattle call
for DS fans....the event would be an embarassment.
If these DS "celebrities" have such star power.....why don't they use it
Tonight Masterpiece Theatre showed the Kenneth Branaugh Much Ado About
Nothing.
This is a great film, and shows the great chemisty KB had with his ex-
wife Emma Thompson.
What does this have to do with DS?? Well, at the last Fest he attended,
1993, Jonathan Frid said he thought this film was a great example of
Shakespeare on film, and isn't he one to know??
I think that it is nice that he is doing a performance in the Midwest,
though I hope it will be easy for audience members to get there.
On a purely frivolous note, if Jonathan and Lara are in touch with each
other, would they be interested in doing a benefit performance of "Love
Letters" together?? How wonderful they would be in that, and that is done
in a Reader's Theatre Format, I believe??
Of course, with Angelique, perhaps it should be called "Poison Pen
Letters?" : )
