to DS, Fans
I'm surprised and rather disappointed that I haven't been able to find a
DS chat room yet. I think it would be great to chat with people who are
as interested as something so "campy" as DS. I watched it an jr. hi. and
was happy to see it on SciFi. I anyone knows if there is, indeed, such a
chat or meeting room please let me know.

- Everyone in the group is part of the cc: list and when you post a
reply to the group via E-Mail you remember to include the cc: list.

- Everyone doesn't have to be online at the same time.

- All of the messages are in your mailbox. When you can't get to your
mail it waits for you - over vacations and such.

- I'd be interested even though I'm by no means an expert.

Re: all of the above remarks, I'm new to the DS Newsgroup. I, too, was
surprised to not find a DS chat channel. I came from the on-line group,
Prodigy. On that service, we had a DS bb (equivalent of a newsgroup), plus
on a designated night of each week, at a designated time, we all agreed to
meet in a private chat room. We still do. It works really well. I agree
that we could set up a DS mail group, but I just wanted to let you know how
we handled a chat room on that on-line service, in case anyone WAS
interested.

Actually, a DS mailing list already exists (details are in the FAQ, I
believe), but it's been inactive for several months due to server
problems.

Why don't we just set up an IRC channel called Dark Shadows ? We can decide
what day is best for everyone and what time. I started doing this with some
friends who like the same singing group I do and now we meet regularly . I
can chat any nights but Weds and Sunday... Anyone interested in meeting on
the undernet?

I don't know if ther is a Dark Shadows chat room either, but there should
be. I am not sure how to go about it but if you have any ideas, maybe
we could start one. I think a good place to start would be the Webchat
Broadcasting System. They might be able to help. If interested leave
me an E-mail message and tell me in some detail what you'd like to see
it look like.

Sincerely,

Hi! This sounds like it would be fun. Perhaps some week we could play trivia

Thursday is usually OK for me.

I would love to join a IRC channel called Dark Shadows. Trivia would be
great fun. Or remember the Blopper when? I can't wait.

i would be interested in participating in a chat session. Only thing is
I'm new on-line so instructions on how to locate the chat would have to
be explained in simple terms to me. Tues. after 9 p.m. would be okay.

Regarding the chat room, I think we should start out setting up a time
(9pm EST for instance) on Thursdays nights on the undernet. I'll be
there this Thursday (tomorrow) and the following Thursday (if I can).
I'm not a real expert, but I hang out on #highlander all the time.
Anybody can create an impromptu channel. It probably ought to be
called #dark_shadows. If it is popular, I can try to get it
registered, in which case it will always be there even if nobody is
there at the time.

Here is some IRC info for you. I strongly suggest using mIRC as your
client, if you are running Windows. Go to http://www-2.
nijenrode.nl/software/mirc/ to get a copy (it's freeware). You should
use the server closest to you. I'm sorry I don't have any servers
other than U.S. and Canadian listed. Please try
http://servers.undernet.org/server-list.html if you need a more
comprehensive list of servers. Another great site is
http://www.undernet.org which has a whole bunch of info regarding the
undernet.

So any volunteers to start a Dark Shadows irc chat channel? What time would be best for most people?
What day of the week? Should we tally up votes for days and times to see which would work for the
largest number?

An IRC Channel or Chat Room is hard toarrange and hard to keep up with
continuosly. If we set up an E-Mail group and E-Mail our questions or
comments to everyone else in the group we can have an ongoing 'chat
session' via E-Mail.

Any interested patries can E-Mail me at JSch...@ix.netcom.com.

There's already such a list. I use to be on it but gave up when it wasn't very active. Usually a few remarks on how so and so
looked in that particular day's episode. Nothing very stimulating. The list was run on a Canadian address. Don't know if I
still have it . Maybe someone out there could supply it.
