I\'m not sure if you guys are familiar with this wonderful new anime series
titled \"Beck\" but I swear it\'s as good if not BETTER then my beloved
\"Daria\".

It\'s about the trails and tribulations of a teenage boy who finds his
purpose through rock and roll. The music and soundtrack are first rate, the
story so subtlely slow, the direction sublime. Shots linger, main
characters are so memorable. I tell you you HAVE to buy this set. It\'s the
perfect substitute for \"Daria\".

If only MTV would\'ve had the forsight to have thier artists sign releases
we probably wouldn\'t be in this mess. Or I suspect like the producers of
\"Beck\" did, just record original music?!?!?

Swearing isn't nice!

Substitute for Daria? (sorry, but those damn backslashes are annoying me!)
I doubt it. That doesn't mean that I'll dismiss this out of hand, but
classics like Daria don't come along every five minutes.

Possibly. They managed it for a few episodes (yes, I have the VHS episodes
to hand). I often think that the whole backing track business with Daria
is being used more as an excuse these days than a reason by MTV and its
parent to avoid doing what so many have asked, which is release the series
to DVD.

Don\'t ask me about the backslashes. Tis not my intenetion.

But seriously I predict \"Beck\" will be a classic.

As for the whole backtracking thing I suspect you\'re right. MTV are
pretty brainless in general. \"Daria\" NEVER had the audience that \"Beavis
and Butthead\" or any of their hit shows had. They are most likely not
optimistic.

I say forget \"Daria\" for the moment and embrace \"Beck\"!

Hmm... I suspect that your web agent is connected with this. It's one of
any number of reasons why I prefer to use a proper news client. Goodness
knows, there are plenty out there, even if you don't want to pay for them!

Maybe so, but Daria does have something that B&BH are running out of, and
that's the staying power of a group of fans that, though smaller than B&BH
at their height, have stayed with it. Personally, I find myself
identifying more readily with Daria and her predicament. B&BH were just
objects of ridicule that were good for a laugh but they had dated too
much, IMHO, and other shows have out-grossed them since.

I'll forget Daria when you pry her from my cold, dead VHS. Or DVD, should
a miracle occur. Or whatever web pages on which she's currently being
written for. As for Beck, we shall see. I've seen too many shows praised
to the roof on groups only to be dissappointed when I get to see them.
