Miss Ellie had a VW Cabrio (please....)

Christopher had a Z28 Convertible

Swellen had two UGLY Ford/Mercury Station Wagons; a Mercedes Station Wagon;
a HOT Mercedes 380/560SEC Coupe; and a Jaguar XK8 Convertible

I don't know about Cally, but if memory serves, I think she had a
Corvette......(but she probably borrowed the Beverly Hillbillies' truck)

JR always had those silver-green Mercedes S-class sedans from like '78-'86
(I don't know the numbers--but the model was redesigned in '83). He then had
a Cadillac Allanté convertible, a Lincoln Mark VII LSC (last season--which
was kind of like Deja vu, since Jock had that Lincoln Mark V coupe)....in JR
Returns, he somehow found that old green Mercedes he drove around 15 years
before but that one was blown up. He then got a new silver S500 Mercedes at
the end of JR Returns. In WOTE, he had a silver SL Mercedes 2 seater
convertible (the kind of car Bobby always drove).

Bobby always had a red Mercedes 2 seat SL convertible. In the early 90s,
M-B redesigned the car and he got a black cherry one. In JR returns he had
a BMW Z3, in WOTE he had a Lincoln Navigator (which I love, just not in
Gold/Brown)

Lucy (when she wasn't stealing JR's mercedes) had first a Triumph, then a
Porsche 924, then a Porsche 944.

Pam had a Corvette at first, then a Black 911, then a Gold 911, then she
drove Bobby's Mercedes into the Gasoline tanker.

Rebecca Wentworth had a Black Cadillac Coupe de Ville

Clayton had a Rolls Royce or that big limo

Ray had that STUPID Jeep pickup

Donna had Lincolns of several types (Town Car, 4-door Continental), a Beige
Cadillac Seville, and a Blue Cadillac Coupe de Ville

Cliff had an old crappy T-bird, a BMW 6-series coupe, a Jaguar XJS, and in
JR Returs, a Saab 900 Convertible

Jack Ewing had a Lotus Esprit

If anybody can think of others, please post them...

I'm not exalted but I'll answer anyway, even though I'm kind of surprised you
don't know what it means.
Half-breed is a nasty, derogatory slur to describe a child whose parents who
are of two different races...say, black/white or white/Indian.
JR sneeringly used the term to describe his half-brother even though he was
using it inaccurately.
Next time you don't know what a word means, look it up in the dictionary. The
lesson will stay with you longer if you make the effort to find the answer
yourself.

You don't need me to enlighten you -- I assume you own a dictionary.
To save you the trouble: According to the dictionary, a half-breed is
the offspring of parents of different races. I don't think that
applies to Ray. J.R. uses the term to mean "not a Ewing." As I've said
here before, Ray is as much a Ewing as J.R., Bobby, and Gary; the only
thing he's missing that they have is Southworth blood. J.R. never
mentions his Southworth heritage.

Well... J.R.'s benz was probably not one of those with the body style of mine
(I believe it's a 123 body type, but might be 213, don't remember numbers).

I have a 1980 300D and I'm about 5'11". I can't sit in it with my stetson on,
the roof is too low.

So unless Larry is far shorter than he looks, he must have had a different
style mercedes, maybe a 380 or something.

I also noticed someone might have said S class, well, maybe at the end, but
mercedes didn't make s class until like the mid nineties, before that
everything had a number like 300, 320, 380, etc.

I'm not sure what MB called its cars before the iteration that JR started
driving in like '83 (like the one that the producers conveniently decided to
wreck when poor Mickey Trotter was paralyzed even though JR had already
switched to the new model).

The newer model car was badged a 380 (or some other number) SEL, which MB
did classify as an S class model. Swellens coupe was a 380 or 560 SEC
(depending on the year) S-Class coupe.

You're right that in the mid-nineties they did switch the badging to
S420/S500/600--which is still in use today.

My boss is like a Mercedes maniac and spent about 45 minutes one day
explaining the difference... :-)

He never mentions his SW heritage because being an Ewing means everything to
him. Now, once you are an Ewing, and are jealously vying to be a brother
of Jr's and Bobby's, to be "equal" you must have that never-spoken-of SW
blood.

The Ewings and The Southworths are BREEDS. They're much more than families you
embasil....or is that window sill..... Since Amos Krebbs ( who by the was
didn't really die but moved to Babot's Cove and posed as a doctor with Jessica
Fletcher) was bred in a swamp with slimy amoebas....... Ray is STLL a
half-breed. Possibly that's difficult for some of you to understand since you

Mercedes used the SEL designation for it's largest Sedans. Neither Bobby, nor
Sue Ellen ever drove a Mercedes Sedan. Bobby, when he was driving Mercedes,
always had the convertable, Sue Ellen had a 560 SEC when she had the Mercedes
Coupe and I think the Station Wagon Mercedes were called 300TC, but I could be
wrong. I never paid much attention to the wagons.

A half breed has to do with one's race, not his parentage. Ray was JR's half
brother, not a true half-breed. As a matter of fact, Ray had as much Ewing
blood in him as JR did. Now, not acting like a Ewing that is a different
story all together.

How can Newman be the loser when he is actually correct. No matter what you
feel about the Character of Ray, he isn't and will never be a half-breed if
you are planning on using the term correctly. Seems as if you may be the
loser since you haven't got a proper understanding of the English language.

Excuse me, but Ray allowed Southfork to burn? Did you watch the episode. I
don't recall Ray sitting by watching the ranch burn. As a matter of fact I
recall him helping JR get the family out of the house. In reality, JR started
the fire by throwing what he did across the room and igniting the fire. You
keep mentioning this Sean person? Who is he?

Actually Lucy's first car (the one that bobby had sitting in the driveway in
a box) was a Fiat X 1/9. That car was only showed on one or 2 episodes.
Then she had the Triumph TR-7. After that she progressed to the Porsche 924

In your original post, you put a question mark after the word 'Cabrio' as if
you weren't sure of the spelling. You are the one who seems to be starting
the battle. So, I will say AYE, but I say it to you and ask that this be
stopped before you start it.

business equal of JR or Bobby, but how can you twist that into the statement
that he is a half-breed?

Why should Eric repeat himself. He defined what a half-breed is. Unless you
can't read you should be able to see for yourself that you are using it in an
incorrect fashion.

In JR's mind, Ray is not and never will be equal for two reasons. One, he
has no Southworth blood, required to be an Ewing Bro. Two, he doesn't "act"
like an ewing (neither does gary).

Not to those of us who actually WATCH the episodes.

Ray's big foray into the development business after finding out Jock was his
Dad was nothing less than an attempt to prove himself an "Ewing". Building
the big house, offering to help run Ewing Oil after Bobby dies, going after
their women, and trying to constantly get involved in their business---yep,
he's vying. Definitely vying.

JR's twisted (but lovable) view of things.

Jenna always drove gold cars. The first Jenna drove a gold Firebird. The
third (and current) Jenna drove a Ford LTD, Lincoln Mark VII (???), and a
BMW--all gold in color.

Before the Jeep truck, Ray drove a junked out Chevy pickup, then later a
white Ford F150. In the later episodes, he drove a Suburban.

Carter McKay also drove the same Suburban. It must have been a package deal
when Ray sold him the house.

Dusty drove a Cadillac.... or did he drive the Rolls? I thought a police
officer once asked if the Rolls belonged to Steven Farlow. This led me to
believe that Clayton drove the Caddy. But he moved to Dallas in the Rolls.
I just remember that the Rolls and the Caddy were always parked side by side
in the Southern Cross driveway. Can someone clear this up?

In the Miniseries, JR drove a pine green Mercedes sedan. Only in the
regular series did he switch to silver.

Also, after Pam torched Bobby's red Mercedes, I recall he drove some generic
looking black convertible. (I think it was a Sterling). I remember him
driving it around to look for Christopher, who had just run away on his
bicycle. He didn't keep that car long before he got a Jaguar convertible.
In the last season or two, he drove a brown sugar-colored Mercedes
convertible.

Val,

Cool observation regarding Jenna's gold cars---I never noticed that!

Dusty sure dropped down a few notches....Rolls Royce to crappy beat up
Bronco... :)

I'm not sure about the pine-green (was it dark??) MB during the miniseries,
but JR's MB during most of the show was an ugly silver-green color....until
he got his Allante convertible.

I don't remember Bobby's non-Mercedes, "post-BBQ" cars. I know Michelle
Stevens drove a Sterling, but I didn't know that Sterling made a
convertible, or that Bobby drove a Jag--I'll have to watch for those. I
just assumed that after the bonfire, he got another red MB 560SL, until he
got the dark cherry one when MB redesigned the SL class...

I would have to agree, but the car is still kick ass. It was a special
edition to celebrate Ford's 75th anniversary. It came in gold or silver
only and had actual diamonds in the side round windows.

I almost bought one a couple of months ago. It was gold, and not a crappy
gold, but a kick -ass gold-fleck old. It was a blast to drive looking over
that huge hood. Also it was decked out with a boomin' 8-track and secret
interior panels. The guy wanted too much for it in the end, but I did have
dreams pulling it up to Southfork and getting out yelling "I AM

Curses to the locked gate at the Southfork entrance that prevents people like

Contrary to what was said earlier in this thread about J.R. never
mentioning his Southworth heritage, thats not exactly true.
There was an episode where J.R. was in the living room with the whole family
and, although I can't remember verbatim, he said something akin to "Of course
that pertains to the members of this family with Ewing and Southworth blood
coursing through our veins." Another obvious diss at good ole' Ray!
