I just saw the clip on O'Reilly Factor. I thought it was tacky and the
typical leftist crap, but I think I'm more offended by how lame it
was (like we're sppsd to believe that a man urinating was able to
accidentally splash that big-ass painting of Jesus (who the hell would
put one in his bathroom, anyway?) hanging five feet off the ground?

It is simply breathtaking to watch the glee and abandon with which
the liberal media and the Angry Left have been attempting to turn
our military victory in Iraq into a second Vietnam quagmire. Too bad
for them, it's failing.

What the fuck makes it "leftist crap"? You and Newport are on the same
side...I can't wait for him to call this "facist crap".

For the record...as a lefty, I'm not a huge fan of the guy either. It has
nothing to do with politics you fucking wingnut.

We haven't seen this week's episode of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" yet--it's
on our TiVo--but we're already getting a chuckle out of it. Or, to be more
precise, from some of the indignant reactions to it. FoxNews.com describes the
scene in question:

David urinates on a painting of Jesus Christ, causing a woman
to believe the painting depicts Jesus crying.

Deal Hudson, author and publisher of InsideCatholic.com, said
he doesn't find any humor in the episode.

"I don't think it's funny," Hudson told Foxnews.com. "Why is
it that people are allowed to publicly show that level of
disrespect for Christian symbols? If the same thing was done
to a symbol of any other religions--Jewish or Muslim--there'd
be a huge outcry. It's simply not a level playing field."

Hudson said an apology from the show's producers and writing
team should be issued.

"Somebody should [apologize]," Hudson said. "When is it going
to stop? When is common sense going to dictate that people realize
this willingness of artists to do to Christianity what they
would never do to Judaism or Islam?"

NewsBusters.org quotes Bill Donohue, head of the Catholic League for Religious
and Civil Rights:

Was Larry David always this crude? Would he think it comedic
if someone urinated on a picture of his mother? This might be
fun to watch, but since HBO only likes to dump [sic] on Catholics. . .
and David is Jewish, we'll never know.

The answer to Donohue's questions are yes and probably yes.

Back in the 1980s, a federally funded artist named Andres Serrano produced a
photo titled "Piss Christ," which depicted a crucifix submerged in a vat of
urine. Religious consevatives were outraged, and their complaint was not a
piddling one. Why should their tax money be used producing art designed only
to offend?

But it's obvious that Larry David was satirizing _Serrano_--and if you can't
satirize an obnoxious government-funded artist, who can you satirize? Is
_everything_ sacred?

You're replying to Mike Weber, a well known neo con kook who thinks
that the clusterfuck that is the recent US involvement in Iraq is a
magnificent and stunning military victory. You are wasting your
breath.

Savage is also on a rant calling for a boycott of Larry David and all
his creations, Seinfeld included. What the hell is going on around here?

Why would he give a crap? IIRC, his gay advice column is somewhat vulgar.

I am sure we are never going to see a brainless liberal do the same to
a picture of Muhammad because they are all political correct cowards.

Why the shock and surprise? Larry David has done this sort of thing
throughout the 7-season (10-year) series.

There was the episode where he got into a fistfight with characters in a
live nativity scene.

There was the episode where he stopped his wife's sister's fiancee's
baptism/conversion from Judaism.

There was the episode where he pulls a "Christ nail" necklace off his
father-in-law.

He's Jewish and he's telling the audience what he really thinks about
Christianity. No different than his zings at African Americans (entire
Season 6 to present), the handicapped (see the prior episode), and everyone
else not exactly like him.

I'm sure there will be more zingers at Christianity if the show keeps going.

Hilarious.

Remember when he ate the Nativity scene cookies with milk for a late
night snack? "You ate the baby Jesus!"
