[CHIPS] "Meet the New Guy". S08-E01

Jon, who is in Wyoming helping with the family ranch, is replaced by
Bobby, a rookie Ponch has been charged with training. On their first
patrol, they encounter a car accident and an abandonned baby in one of
the cars with $2000. Ponch gets suspicious when the car owners didn't
know the car had been stolen and whose baby it is. The next morning,
Ponch attends an aerobics class lead by Richard Simmons, who gives Ponch
special atention b/c he's too busy oggling the foxy babes when the
studio gets robbed, causing Ponch to nearly get arrested for
impersonating a officer because he didn't bother to get dressed first.
At the daily briefing, Ponch is teased about his experience and gets the
name of the missing driver, who at that moment is stealing the baby from
hospital while disguised as a nurse. Ponch goes on TV to plead for the
return of the baby and later, stops Bobby fropm arresting Tommy Lasorta,
who is late for the World Series. To make a long story longer (too
late!), we learn that the owners of the car paid the girl $2K for her
baby but she welched on the bargain and Ponch and Bobby causes the drunk
guy who picked her up while hitchhiking to crash into some quicksand,
where they had to perform a daring rescue from the bucket of a backhoe.
Yeah, they should have ended this show last season or at least spun it
off as "The Ponch Show"! Oh yeah, they replaced Bonnie with a boring
chick and Bear seems to be gone.
