What happened to Danny Nyland?

Hi everyone,
I've got lots of catching up to do - I've missed two seasons of Chicago
Hope, and the next thing I know Danny Nyland (for some strange reason,
is my favourite character) is gone. I read some episode sypnopsies - and
in 'One thousand and 1 damnations', he returns. The 'blurb said that 'he
had really changed'. What happened? I'm dying to know! Could someone
tell me what happened?

Okay
on his final episode, Danny Nyland was demoted to the blood bank after the
whole mess with Marcus Jessup (they accused him of killing him by not clambing
the gangster's aorta.)
It was implied that Danny had quit in that episode, saying something to Wilkes
along the line of "You think I'm staying, I bet that you will burn out and be
outta here in six months"
then in the 100th episode...he came back...as a priest...to the ailing Philip
The Ghost of Alan said something to the extent of "after you found him, he
found his true calling in life"
IMHO...that was a bit of a continuity error...and completely outta character
for Danny Nyland...how could they make the hottest character ever on Chicago
Hope a priest!!!!!!

Well, certainly surprising - but you know what, I actually thought that
he became exactly that! A priest! Talk about prophecies...(slightly out
of topic:) I'm really glad Thomas Gibson got that Dharma & Greg gig. He
is just great there! It's quite a change to see his comedic side.
Heard that most of the cast got fired. Seriously, it's difficult to
root for new characters - I'm going to miss Billy Kronk. And Diane
Grad. Gee, without them, what is Chicago Hope?

He didn't! They weren't in any scenes together in the 100th episode :(

I guessed that when in an interview about the 100th episode...Thomas said that
Danny would be undergoing a "change of occupation."

What comedic side? On Dharma and Greg, he doesn't do anything but stand around
being Jeena Elfman's straight man! I preferred him on Chicago Hope, Danny
Nyland was sooo much more dynamic than Greg! To be honest, he was funnier as
Danny than as Greg!

Yup...they let Billy, Diane, Hancock, Catera, and Yeats go...without them
Chicago Hope is a bit more like it was first season....although I do miss BIlly
and Diane!
