Hi,

I have a couple of Tom and Jerry questions:

(1) Is there any other station/network ANYWHERE in the U.S. that airs
Tom and Jerry besides Cartoon Network? Or does Cartoon Network/Turner
now own the exclusive rights? I'm sick of Cartoon Network either
editing out "politically incorrect" scenes in the 1940's/early 1950's
episodes, or not airing them at all. I want to know if any other
stations/networks air the cartoon without all the PC crap.

I remember watching the unedited versions of Tom and Jerry, as a kid (in
the early 80's) on WFLD-TV (Channel 32) in Chicago...this was before
WFLD became one of the first Fox affiliates...and I *never* thought to
myself, "gee, Tom's face just turned black after an explosion, that must
mean that it's bad to be Black." If kids today watch these cartoons and
make those sort of assumptions, I truly feel sorry for them.

(2) Does anyone out there have the laserdisc versions of Tom and Jerry
that came out several years ago? Specifically, I am looking for the
following one -- this is taken from
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/6859/tjvideo.html --

The Art of Tom & Jerry
Volume 1, MGM
102682

Starts at "Puss Gets the Boot" (2/10/40) and goes up to "Just Ducky"
(9/5/53)

If anyone out there has this laserdisc, and would be willing to either
sell it or make copies onto VHS (I'd pay for the cost of the tapes and
the shipping, of course!), please let me know via e-mail
-- dance...@rocketmail.com

(Volume 2 would be great as well...but Volume 1 is my priority!)

Those early-90's laserdisc versions are the only ones available
(according to what I've read on the newsgroups) that have the
*UNEDITED*, *ORIGINAL* versions of Tom and Jerry.

Thanks in advance!

You may be interested to know that currently Cartoon Network is airing
uncut Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes on the Saturday and Sunday Night
Acme Hour and Bugs and Daffy. But its late at night ^__^ They can't air
any of the Mammy Two Shoes cartoons during the day formats, but they've
been allowed by the CN execs to air all some of the politically
incorrect ones at LATE weekend nights - as we speak I'm watching Scalp
Trouble. :)

Last weekend we got Saturday Evening Puss and I can't remember the
other one, tonight we got the first cartoon with Nibbles "The Little
Orphan" and The Tom And Jerry Cartoon Kit which hasnt been aired in
MONTHS :P. Looney Tunes wise we got the very first Speedy Gonzales Cat
Tails For Two, Russian Rhapsody (a cartoon with the Kremlin Gremlins
and Hitler no laess (SWASTIKAS EVERYWHERE) and Scalp Trouble with Porky
and Daffy and My Little Buckaroo

Personally I'm happy that we eeven get them. No matter WHERE they air
be it CN or elsewhere, WB wouldnt allow Mammy Two Shoes at all let
alone Speedy Gonzales. And even if they are the Hanna Barbera cleanups
with the Dubbed black woman vboice, thats better than nothing which is
what we got before. So this is a good compromise if you ask me. Plus
I'm seeing cartoons I havent seen in years. Check it out cause T&J aint
leavin anytime soon

What do you think the odds are that we'll get cartoons like "Sleepy Time Tom"
or "Nit Witty Kitty"? Additionally, was the version of "Saturday Evening Puss"
you saw a Mammy version or the white woman version?
