Sorry if this has been noted before, but...

Talking with a friend yesterday about Juliet Landau's Dru accent, and how
she really ought to know better given the time she must have spent over
here as a child while her parents were shooting "Space 1999", it occurred
to me...

She's not actually doing just any old Cockernee. Brits in this newsgroup:
who do we know with an accent like that and prominent dental work?

She's doing Janet Street-Porter!

Uh huh, Barbara Bain and Martin Landau had been married since Christ was
a crossing guard... 'til they split up in 1993.

(They got married in 1957)

I just saw her on an ep of "Le Femme Nikita" with short hair and a midwestern
american accent...

I have no idea how old the ep is...

I can vouch for this as accurate since I ran into her at a movie
theatre and spoke to her for a minute or two. Pure 'merkin. :-)

She's an annoying, opinionated "celebrity" who somehow has parlayed a big
mouth (necessary to fit her seemingly 84 teeth) into a career as
television presenter, "yoof" TV producer and now editor of a national
broadsheet newspaper (the Independent on Sunday). Her odious, twanging
bray of an accent has been the stuff of parody over here for some 20 years
now.
