That was Amanda that fell dead in front of Buffy while she was on the ground.
It did not look like her with the blood and all but a second viewing of the
tape shows that Amanda was wearing a brown sweater over a red shirt which was
what the dead girl was wearing. An earlier poster in this group gets credit
for noticing that.

It seems that many people did not realize that the girl was Amanda and the
emotional effect of the scene was missed. ME writers should have had Buffy say
"Oh, no. Amanda!" or "Amanda!" when Amanda fell in front of her so we viewers
would have known that it was Amanda immediately. That little 5 second scene
would have had much more of an impact.

As it was I didn't realize Amanda was missing or dead until the very last scene
where everyone was getting off of the school bus and she was missing during a
nose count of ex-SITs.

Except for Spike there wasn't any glorifed death scene for the SITs or for even
Anya when she was cut down (really in half).

I can't believe they killed Anya like that....seemed pretty gruesome for a
such an important character. It was so sad, lol...

Personally, I think they missed an opportunity by not having the
First change its form to whoever had just died when it was taunting
Buffy. I can imagine FE-as-Amanda saying, "Oops, looks like you lost
another one. Well, don't worry," then switching to Anya, and so on.

Now if it had only been Amanda, Kennedy and Vi falling down I would have been
cheering my brains out. But Amanda's demise will do.

No more gruesome than Jenny Calendar's murder.

I noticed it was Amanda the first time I saw it. You see, she didn't
get any sleep the night before. Of course, that didn't help Anya, but
she got scared and was not a slayer.

I'm posting this wherever the potentials turned slayers are mentioned. It just
started as a small page.

DAWN: ... and my sister is a vampire slayer, her best friend is a witch
who went bonkers and tried to destroy the world, um, I actually used to
be a little ball of energy until about two years ago when some monks
changed the past and made me Buffy's sister and for some reason, a big
klepto. My best friends are Leticia Jones, who moved to San Diego
because this town is evil, and a floppy eared demon named Clem.

At least Anya was in a position to defend herself and went down
fighting. Jenny never had a chance.

Well this one had an excuse, being "The Taunter" and all.

As morbid as this sounds, being slashed is, to me, a little more gruesome
than breaking one's neck. It's the presence of the blood.

You are saying instead of the First just appearing to a downed Buffy as Buffy
it should have kept changing to each PS as they were killed. As Amanda fell in
death in front of Buffy the First changes to Amanda. When Anya is killed the
First changes to Anya and triggers Buffy's sudden recovery as she realized one
of her closest friends has just died.

Image if Dawn was killed at this time and the First changes to Dawn in front of
Buffy.
