Woo. Wow, every get the feeling that Joss is watching us?? That
episode answered so many questions of the past. And I never thought Buffy
would return home so soon. It was so great to see Buffy decide she had a
job to do again:

Hi, I'm Buffy . . . the Vampire Slayer, and you are??

I think the whole question about Joyce and Giles has been pretty much
back-burnered, little chance of them getting together now. And most
importantly, Joss answered the whole question about how vamps fight when
they come out of the ground, and some of the stuff about what vamps
remember from their previous lives. When the demon awakes, it has full
access to the memories and skills of the host. Great episode

As someone else pointed out, legally they could get in trouble if they "stole"
something from fanfic or a newsgroup, so to keep themselves safe, most writers
don't read stuff like this.

However, if I were in their position I would have somone who is not a writer,
say ... a stunt coordinator or somesuch, check out this group enough to keep
in touch with the overall sentiments of the hard-core fans and report back
the general trends. Otherwise they are completely cutting themselves off from
a good base of information.

Frankly, I find the posting board at the official site mainly to be juvenile
ooo-ings and ahhhh-ings over how cute or hot so-and-so character is. I thik
there's much more meat here.

There is an official posting board/ chat room on the Buffy website and
arranged publicity type things. That atmosphere must be far more
controlled than this USENET group. Besides the legal theory (which I
don't think plays heavily in Joss' case) on why a TV writer-producer
might not visit here.

Good idea. I hope somebody takes your suggestion
to heart <g>

Where is Jeff, anyway? . . .

JMS the executive producer of Babylon 5 and writer of most shows only
reads the moderated B5 group, and sometimes answers questions though not
as often as he did in the past.

Hope he checks in in a couple of weeks, once
the new season starts rolling.

I really don't think Jeff Pruitt visits here as a spy for the writers or
producers. As far as I can tell from his postings and my correspondence
with him, he's here on his own (and we are that much better off for it).
By the way, you might want to check out his own web site,
http://www.mcs.net/~jcomroe/HTG.htm , which has lots of photos and info
on his varied career as actor and stunt performer/coordinator.

Uh-oh, better be careful what you say in that regard. I made the same
point here just a few weeks ago and got flamed by one of the posting
board's "Buffyatrics" (which group actually doesn't seem distinguishable
from the younger set, at least not according to some of the items posted
at their website).

Ok, it's too early in the AM for me to flame somebody. You get off free, this
time. Just let it be known that we at the Bronze don't like being grouped
together. Joss was on last night to chat, answer a few questions, and say hi,
BTW. Yes, there are the "Oh, Buffy is SOOO hot" comments, but if you actually
took the time to read a discussion, you'd see that it's a true forum for debate
among the di-hard fans.

And to be utterly fair, I've never noticed that atbvs is completely
and utterly immune from "Oh, Buffy is SOOO hot", although I think we
get more "Oh, Willow is SOOO cute"
