In no particular oder (and with my rating in parentheses):
1) Buffy - Angel (7) - to much pain and couldn't work over the long haul
(for obvious reasons)
2) Buffy - Riley (9) - I know most hate this couple but I'm one of Riley's
fans. I liked him with Buffy until he let a vampire "suck him" story
3) Buffy - Spike (5) - This relationship "sucks". Was fun at first but
there's nothing but animal lust here. this is even worse than the "Buffy
and Riley episode-long fornication in 'Where The WIld Things Are' "
4) Willow - Oz (9) - Great pairing but Willow was even sweeter with .....
4) Willow - Tara (10) - Best Buffy paired couple to date
5) Xander - Cordeila (7) - Lots of fun
6) Xander - Anya (9) - Lots os sex!
7) Xander - Faith (3) - Lots of pain!
8) Xander - Willow (5) - I'm glad it was only unrequited love. Hate to see
the "sex ruined our friendship" episodes
9) Vamp Xander - Vamp Willow (9) - Very cool and hot (Willow in leather!).
I's never say "bored now" to this!
10) Faith - The Mayor (6) - What a proud papa he was
11) Giles - Olivia (3) - Good for the old man that he still had it in him
:-) but didn't last too long
12) Giles - Jenny (9.5) - This is my second favorite coupling. Jenny was
the most mature and complete woman on the show.
13) Giles - Joyce (6) - Had big potential here
14) Glory - Ben (7) - Gottal love the editing and special effects as they
have a "face-to-face" in "The Weight of the World".
15) Spike - Harmony (5) - Harmony is to whiney for me
16) Spike - Drusila (7) - At least he loved her although I could never see
why

>>
>> 1) Buffy - Angel (5) as the ultimate horrible first experience with love,
it rocked; too bad so many people thought it was romantic.
>
>> 2) Buffy - Riley (2) and it would be lower except for the vamp whores at
the end. This guy took dull to a whole new level. Zero chemistry didn't
help.
>> 3) Buffy - Spike (10) the best mismatch yet. Just enough hope to keep you
wanting them to make it, just enough against them to make that unlikely. Add
humor, brutal honesty, and wild nekkid sex, and what more could anyone want?
>
>> 4) Willow - Oz (8) a very sweet take on first love; I liked that it didn't
occur between the two gorgeous leads but between two nerdy types. I also
liked her acceptance of his werewolfiness (difference), but was a bit
disturbed by how it ended. Is this supposed to mean it's a bad idea to be
accepting of difference?
>
>> 5) Willow - Tara (6) great potential but not fully realized. They seemed
happy together and it was nice to see a gay relationship portrayed so
positively, but there wasn't much drama or even screen time there. Now
they're broken up which is sad, but still not much drama or screen time, and
the addiction metaphor seems to make Tara still less central to Willow's
situation. Too bad.
>
>> 6) Xander - Cordeila (6) very funny but ultimately just a light-weight
interlude. At least, for Xander on BTVS. I think it was the beginning of a
much longer story arc for Cordy which has been realized on AtS.
>> 7) Xander - Anya (6) same problem as W/T. Lots of potential but little
realization of it, and not enough screen time either. The fact that Anya's
demonhood is simply used to justify inappropriate behavior/comments is just a
waste.
>> 8) Xander - Faith (1) I'm not sure I'd even count that as a couple. I
suppose it was a step for Xander in that he finally lost his virginity, but
it was about as meaningless as that experience can be. His first real
experience was still Anya.
>> 9) Xander - Willow (8) a wonderful portrayal of unrequited/star-crossed
lovers, so real it hurt to watch them. And talk about rotten timing! Such a
pleasure to see them triumph with their friendship intact as they went on to
new loves. It's a bit rocky between them now, but that has nothing to do
with their early start.
>> 10) Vamp Xander - Vamp Willow (9) all good fun. I loved to see their
friendship and (forbidden in non-vamp form) sexual attraction play out.
>> 11) Faith - The Mayor (9) great evilness love of the non-sexual variety. I
loved the dynamic between them.
>> 12) Giles - Olivia (5) interesting insight into Giles' non-Scooby life.
Who knew he had one. But she wimped out and I felt bad for (almost got
shagged) Giles.
>> 13) Giles - Jenny (7) great older couple with all the stops and starts you
expect from people who have been burned before and carry a lot of emotional
baggage. It really emphasized the innocence and optimist of the young loves
of the Scoobs. Ended badly, of course. Damn you, Angelus!
>> 14) Giles - Joyce (6) very complex and cool. The attraction was there but
so was the anger. Hers at him for the whole watcher/slayer thing. His for
her because her maternal protectionism was getting in the way. And the whole
thing worsened by the mutual but not fully consensual sex in BC; they were
never quite comfortable with each other after that. Not to mention Buffy's
barf reaction.
>> 15) Glory - Ben (0) not a couple.
>
>> 16) Spike - Harmony (5) very, very funny. I loved that despite the fact
that she loved him more than he loved her and despite the fact that she was
an idiot, Spike couldn't even dominate Harmony. Her breakup scene in Crush
almost stole the show...and it wasn't an easy show to steal. But it was
still just a side incident.
>> 17) Spike - Drusilla (9) a great baddie couple, endearing despite or even
because they were so utterly skanky. And I loved the gender role bending.
Even separate, these are two of the best characters in the Buffyverse.
You forgot:
18) Spike-Dawn (8) unexpected, very sweet and funny, and a nice hint that what
is happening to Spike isn't just because of Buffy.

9 - I can't understand how people can say it's "just lust" or "just sex".
If Buffy had jumped his bones in S4 after Riley left, you might be able to
make a case for "just sex", but there's been way too much between them in
the last year or 2 for it to be just that. I find this relationship to be
one of the most complex of the whole series. And if Buffy can ever honestly
come to terms with what their relationship is, and whether or not she wants
to be in it, and reconcile all the different emotions she has toward Spike,
I think it would go a long way towards her growing up.

Scott Bennie
I'm going to have to strongly agree with this statement. I totally agree.
I see so many posts condemning Buffy and Spikes relationship for reasons
that make absolutely no sense. These reasons include:
#1 claiming that Buffy is being a slut by sleeping with Spike
&
#2 Because of how the relationship between Buffy and Spike is portrayed, it
cannot be more than lust and/or will not last
Huh?! They've known each other for nearly 4 years now. They've been
allies, if not friends, for close to a year and a half. Someone needs to
tell me where the sluttiness come in. It seems that because of the nature
of their sexual exploits (knocking down buildings with their wild sex, etc)
they are being trashy. I wonder if these accusations would be made if the
sex was portrayed as "normal," missionary position, sweet, and performed in
a more traditional place (bed.) Boring! Lets not relive the Riley days.
Since when can't sex be fun. Grow up people, your probably just jealous
that your sex lives aren't nearly that exciting.
#3 Spike is taking advantage of Buffy.
Something tells me that the writers were taking precautions against such
accusations when they wrote the sex scenes, specifically the first one.
Could the sound of Buffy unzipping Spikes pants have been more obvious?
Buffy has definitely been calling all the shots in this relationship. Spike
couldn't be taking advantage if he wanted to.
It seems like Buffy and Spike's relationship needs to be justified, by
viewers, in ways that no other relationship in the history of the show has
needed to be proven. Putting the relationship under unwarranted and
negative scrutiny isn't going to make it go away.

Fun idea...I'll play.
I'm using your list and adding my score.
>1) Buffy - Angel
6 -- My first favorite 'ship. I still am, to a point, but the insistence on
splitting the shows apart, thematically as well as physically, has cooled the
ardor.
>2) Buffy - Riley
8 -- I love Buffy/Riley. He's the nicest guy she's ever been with and he
truly loved her. Too bad it ended the way it did.
>3) Buffy - Spike
10 -- My current favorite. I've been a lukewarm S/B 'shipper since S2, but now
it's finally paying off.
>4) Willow - Oz
5 -- Oz is funny, but kinda boring.
>4) Willow - Tara
10 -- I love Tara.
>5) Xander - Cordelia
7 -- I liked them better when they were together. Now, I prefer her on Angel
and not involved with Xander.
>6) Xander - Anya
10 -- I adore Anya! I hope the marriage goes off without a hitch!
>7) Xander - Faith
1 -- There's was no chemistry at all between them.
>8) Xander - Willow
3 -- I also used to want to see them together, but Willow's mooning over him
was tiresome.
>9) Vamp Xander - Vamp Willow
4 -- Didn't do much for me.
>10) Faith - The Mayor
8 -- Not a romantic couple, but they had scads of chemistry.
>11) Giles - Olivia
5 -- Olivia's cute and all, but it was boring.
>12) Giles - Jenny
3 -- Jenny's superority irked me something fierce. Didn't care for the
character and didn't care when she bit the dust.
>13) Giles - Joyce
7 -- After Band Candy, I was rooting for them, but it wasn't to be.
>14) Glory - Ben
1 -- Hated them both with a passion.
>15) Spike - Harmony
3 -- I actually like Harmony, but not with Spike.
>16) Spike - Drusila
1 -- The one character I disliked more than Jenny. Spike's well rid of her.

Willow and Oz were the best couple the show has seen. It was just the best
ever.
Coolest couple...well, that'd have to go to Vamp Willow and Vamp Xander.
They were just awesome because they kicked ass.
But Willow and Oz were cute, pleasant, and it reminds me a lot of my own
relationship.

ok, now that that's taken care of:
I guess you can look at the poll in 2 ways. Are they good relationships
for the characters or are they "fun" relationships for us to watch. I'll
just kind of combine both and pick the ones I like.
Buffy/Angel: Well, when it was happening, have to give it a 9. Would
have been great....Good Vamp, slayer, first love, true love, very
romantic yet kind of in a sick way, as only BTVS can mix successfully.
The gypsy curse kind of makes it less that perfect. But, If Buffy
didn't mind, then I'll go with a 9. If I look at it now, though, it
ranks much lower, since Angel has apparently given up on Buffy and seems
to want to roll around the crypt with Cordy. Plus, from what I've heard,
DB's attitude on the whole thing makes me annoyed. But, just given what
it was at the time, and, given Buffy's complete and utter love for they
guy, 9. Fix the Gypsy thingand have Angel be less of an ass **** when it
comes to Buffy (I know, it is more a political, network thing then a
character flaw, but still) and throw in a few other things, give it a
10, and have them walk into the sunset (uhhh moonset?) together and you
have a great way to end the series. Of course, the Spike thing
complicates that somewhat....Buffy is a one-vamp girl.
Buffy/Riley: ugh. 2. Only scoring any points because he seems to have
made B happy in bed. Nothing else redeeming from the viewer's point of
view. The whore-vamp cheating just lowers the whole thing to barely a 2.
He just didn't "get" Buffy. No understanding of what the slayer is. He
just didn't see season's one through three! Blah...average college
relationship-you know it is going to end after a few months.
Buffy/Spike: Oh boy. One day I like, one day I like a little bit less
but still like it. Let's get right to my feelings on this one. My main
reservation is that this is not healthy for Buffy. Or maybe not. That's
it---we just don't know at this point. Are they setting it up to be a
train wreck (the building did fall down and their initial coupling was
portrayed in a less than positive light) or are they showing it as a
long-unrequited love/redemption story (Spike clearly has become a better
"man" ---I mean look at the Gift, look at his concern for the little
bit.)? I don't know. It's too early to give my final "approval". In
terms of fun to watch, it is a 10, though. So, I reserve my vote.
Willow/Oz: like it. Very romantic. So, 8.8
Not 10, because I want Willow with Xander.
Willow/Tara: Well, very romantic and all new-age witchy. Of course, it
is kind of spoiled by the way it ended. Plus, I want Willow with Xander,
dammit. I can't also help but think that the Magick was too big a part
of the relationship. So, 7.
Willow/Xander: It would (could still?) be great. I like the storybook
romance thing. The whole A likes B but B likes C who never notices
B--but then B realizes that true love really lies with A. That whole
triangle thing. So, I think, if it would turn romantic, it would be a 10
(!). of all the people on the show, they should get together. It just
works.
Xander/Cordy: I liked this one also. The whole opposites attract thing.
But Xander should be with Willow. (7.5)
Xander/Faith: Uhh 1. Yeah, some sex, but I don't even think he
registered on her radar.
Xander Vamp/Willow Vamp: Well, Xander and Willow! So, 9. Not enough
screen time to really give a 10. Plus, VampWillow....grrrrrr
Faith/Mayor: ewwwww sick! Kind of pervy. Not something I can put a
number to. But fun to watch!
Giles/ Olivia: Ok, don't really know her that much. (6) I think they are
kind of like "friends plus) and have that kind of relationship. Not
really love though.
Giles/Jenny: loved it until we found out that she was witholding big
time information. (9)
Giles/Joyce: Would be perfect together. Good sex judging by that one
episode. Both love Buffy. Giles as a father figure already.... (9.5)
Can't happen now, unless really weird stuff happens. Would have been
nice way to end the series though. They both deserve a good
relationship.
Glory/Ben: WHAT? You mean Ben and Glory are related in some way? Hmmm.
Ben and....
Uh, what was I talking about. Strange,...can't remember. Oh, well, on
to...
Spike/Harmony: nothing really there. (3)
Spike /Dru: made for each other. 9.5 Sick, evil, and in love. If only
Dru were not such a pain, and we didn't have the muy attractivo B/S
pairing, then this one would have the 10.
Ok, some more:
Spike/Buffybot: 8 Good looking couple!
Buffy/Xander: always rooted for the Xand man in the first few seasons.
If I was in Sunnydale High, and I met Buffy, I might be he. Or
something. But, X made that stupid speech about Riley, and he has been
mean to Buffy on a number of occasions. So, I'm mixed on this. Plus it
would hurt Willow too much, one would think. So, put this thought on
hold for now. Why am I suddenly having fuzzy feelings for Willow?
VampWillow/Willow: yummy...but obviously, only a fantasy!
Willow/Buffy: Ok, stopping this post. Fantasy overload getting in the
way of reality......
1) Buffy - Angel (3) Bored now.
2) Buffy - Riley (2) Yawn...
3) Buffy - Spike (-)I don't count this one as anything, yet.
4) Willow - Oz (10) Second best pairing
5) Willow - Tara (1)I'm not big on same-sex couples
6) Xander - Cordeila (8) - Lots of fun. Yep.
7) Xander - Anya (5)
8) Xander - Faith (-) A non-relationship. One roll in the sack means nothing.
9) Xander - Willow (-) Unrequited love, but great potential.
10) Vamp Xander - Vamp Willow (8)
11) Faith - The Mayor (-) Father-daughter relationships don't count.
12) Giles - Olivia (5)
13) Giles - Jenny (10) Best couple ever.
14) Giles - Joyce (-) Again, a non-couple. Eating candy and shagging doesn't count.
15) Glory - Ben (-) Non-couple. They never actually "met."
16) Spike - Harmony (7) Very humorous.
17) Spike - Drusila (9) Better when she was weak.
1) Buffy - Angel (7) -the angst got old in S3, but god help me I miss
it sometimes
2) Buffy - Riley (2) - An abortion.
3) Buffy - Spike (5) - Good in very very small doses. "Gone" was far
too big to swallow.
4) Willow - Oz (7) - Cute, I suppose.
5) Willow - Tara (5) - Borrrrrring. Only got good in S6 when they had
arguments.
6) Xander - Cordeila (6) - I never really bought it, but I miss Cordy
too.
7) Xander - Anya (6) - Started out good but has really gotten boring
recently.
8) Xander - Faith (9) - Not really a relationship, but we got to see
semi-naked Faith, which garners big points from me. And "The Zeppo"
kicked ass.
9) Xander - Willow (8) - Let me explain the rating. It was good until
S2, great into S3, and has been almost totally lost now. I still
think these two should end up together at the end, though I doubt
they'll turn her straight again.
10) Vamp Xander - Vamp Willow (9) - Good, though I'd just as soon see
the real X/W paring.
11) Faith - The Mayor (7) - Er...we do mean a father/daughter
relationship here?
12) Giles - Olivia (4) - This never had enough development to be
anything special.
13) Giles - Jenny (8) - This was very very good, which is what made
"Passions" and "Becoming II" that much more painful.
14) Giles - Joyce (5) - Eh. Well I guess we'll never know.
15) Glory - Ben (n/a) - Huh?
16) Spike - Harmony (5) - Served its purpose.
17) Spike - Drusila (5) - God was she annyoing.
