"King David couldn't open with Psalms."
Arrgggh!! I don't believe it! I take my tin foil helmet off for one day and
the aliens are reading my mind again!
The Stargate/Buffy xover toon (third one down) is exactly the same as the
fic I was working on. I mean exactly the same. Dr. Frazier dies (via SG
canon), Jack and Sam tell Cassandra in their dress blues, Cassie talks about
having weird (meaning Slayer) dreams, Cassie casually mentions some weird
stuff that happened to her, Cassie discovers she's a Slayer from Buffy, all
of it was in/going-to-be-in my fic.
The only difference between my story and this cartoon is that Cassie was
going to move in with Sam and Pete for a while. A ghostly creature attacks
Cassie at Sam's house (shades of Afterlife) but she beats it. Sam thinks
its Goau'ld related and it was really after her. The next day Buffy, Xander
and Willow show up and give Cassie the news about being a New Slayers.
Cassie goes from being a genetic super-soldier experiment to a human nuclear
time bomb to a Slayer all before turning 21. Quite the journey ehh?
That scraps my fic. Ohh well, I guess great minds think alike. :)
Don't get me wrong, it's a very funny cartoon. And Buffy with the big
boobs, always a good thing. The philosophy sketchbook was funny too.
Now stop reading my thoughts! :)

Frankly, when the idea came to me last week I was surprised I've never
seen it on a.t.bvs.c before. I'd be very surprised to learn that I was the
first person to the net with it.
: Don't get me wrong, it's a very funny cartoon. And Buffy with the big

I must have been channeling conventional webcomics culture when I was
designing that aspect of triangle caricatures, for "boobies" excuse a
multitude of sins there.
Say, is it apparent enough that what Willow's carrying is a divining rod?
If you mean the forked branch she's carrying, then yes it is clear. I got
the joke about using a "magical divining rod" to find New Slayers. Pretty
funny.
For anybody who doesn't know what we're talking about, (it's a pretty old
peice of folklore and I don't know if it has crossed the ocean or not) a
divining ron is a forked piece of wood (usually a tree branch) used to
locate underground water in the desert or wherever. Some swear it works
while others (like me) think is pure bunk. But, as Paul proved, it does
make for a good joke.
Paul, I love your work!

I've seen the idea elsewhere myself... usually on ff.net... and usually
really short ficlets or things that get abandoned.
Why none of the regular denizens of atbvs.creative haven't posted one
here? No idea... I don't write Stargate fanfic, crossover or not, myself
(No matter how much I like reading it). Has anyone, other than Don
Sample, posted a Stargate crossover here any time in the last two years?
There's a bunch on ff.net and Twisting the Hellmouth.

There have been a few Cassandra gets called as a Slayer stories. So far
none of them have impressed me much.

How about Memet's "Lost Slayers" ? (It's a wip)
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1942567/1/
Okay... strictly speaking, Cassandra isn't "called" as a slayer but she
is in it... associating with slayers...
I've been reading it, but it really hasn't grabbed my attention.

I did. New Fang Gang features/will feature the Stargate as the main method
of transport around the multiverse. In Book 1 Jonathan's AU is that he when
to USC instead of SU after high school. There he met and became friends
with Daniel Jackson. He switched majors to arch/ and joined the SGC. Book
1 didn't really feature the gate it just talked about it, but Books 2 to 4
will have a lot the big flushing sideways ring in it (as soon as I find the
time to finish them).

The standard explanation, as I understand it, is that it's impure bunk:
the divining rod does move, but it's all down to unconscious muscle
spasms and doesn't actually signify anything.

The Pink Pedanther
You are almost right there Paul, the Standard explanation is pure
bunk. Want proof? They did a TV show here in the the states
where they offered (I think) $25k to anyone who could demonstrate
an amazing ability on camera in their studios successfully. Some
of the attempts were pretty humorous, that is until they got the
wytchers.
The show brought together 10 folks who claimed to be able to
divine/wytch for water. They setup a test where the wytchers
would pass over a box that may or may not contain water 10 times
each. On average they correctly divined the contents of the box
7 out of 10 times.
Doesn't sound like bunk to me.
> You are almost right there Paul, the Standard explanation is pure

-snip-
Yes, but I don't call that proof.
I would need a considerably more detailed description of the event to
be convinced (a) that the results were even statistically significant
and (b) that the results could not have been achieved by mundane means.
But please don't attempt to convince me; this is not the forum for such
discussion, and I don't intend to discuss it any further. I apologise
to all involved for having wasted your time already.
