Once upon a time, between Hazelton and Walk Hill Streets in Mattapan,
Massachusetts, there lived the Charles Logue School.

The building still stands, as an apartment house. But, from 1929 to
about the early 1980s, it was a Boston elementary school which housed
kindergarten and grades 3,4,5,and 6. Does anyone here know what became
of the
teachers from the 1954-64 era, and what became of the school itself?
I attended that school from 1960 to 1963 (grades 4,5, and 6).

I was born in 1955. I first lived in Dorchester on Floyd Street, then Stratton Street. We moved to Westmore Road in Mattapan then to Ormond Street. I went to the Charles Logue School first for Kindergarten (I'll never forget the urinals that went all the way to the floor and the wooden tanks with a pull chain for flushing),then went next door to the Martha Baker School for grades one thru three. Then back to the Charles Logue School for fourth grade. My teachers name was Miss Devlin. Shortly after starting fourth grade at 10 years old in 1965 we moved to Holbrook Massachusetts where I lived till 1980 when I got married.

I am glad to find some alums from Charles Logue School. I went there between 1960 through 1965. I started second grade at the Martha Baker School with Ms. Fanninsio as my teacher (not sure if I spelled it correctly). I then attended Charles Logue starting at 3rd grade (Ms. Wilson). I graduated in 1965 and onto Boston Latin School. I still have good memories of the years I spent there... played hand balls at the school yard; many games of baseball cards from leaners and topsies. Saddest moment I remembered was the time when President Kennedy was shot..we were on recess playing when they told us the news and were sent home that afternoon. I lived on the North Shore now and still drive by the old homestead whenever I am in the area. MANY GOOD MEMORIES INDEED!
