And better than any of this modern "Dark Knight" crap, although I have
only flicked through this movie. Robin needs to get a haircut though.

Depressing, dark, violent, hyper-realistic garbage ... not even
remotely like the original comic books.

The Adam West TV series is *THE* best Batman ... and *THE* best batmobile.
The 1960's TV series Batmobile even beats the newer 1989 movie
Batmobile in a drag race. <https://youtu.be/6m3jcBMI9WU>

The black-and-white movie above obviously had some degree of influence
shaping the Adam West TV show.

It was a serial. They had a lot of material.

Most of which was not that great. the ears on Batman's cowl stuck out
sideways. As Bob Kane reported from his visit to the set, no Batmobile.
They drove a]round in a Buick four-door with Alfred driving. None p\of
the usual gadgets. The stuntman doubling for Robin looked like an
overweight Mickey Rooney. They did at least have a Batcave -- one whole
room of it.

Fairly typical of serial adaptations: Buy the rights to a character and
stick him into whatever you've got lying around. For other examples see
Dick Tracy, Mandrake the Magician, Captain America.

Notable that nationwide showings of the Batman serial -- promoting it as
camp -- may have inspired the TV show.

Still never gotten to seeing either of the two Batman serials... the ears on Batman never fail to turn me off at one glance.

I finally did try to watch the Captain Marvel serial, supposedly the best ever done... try being the key word here.
