The name of the song (in German) is "Mein Liebling, Mein Rose," translating
into "My Love, My Rose." It was sung by Carl Schmidt. I don't know if a copy
is available on CD, tape, or vinyl record, but an MP3 of the song, taken
from the actual episode, is available at this site:

I hope that helps.

Curious question here- for those of you putting music up on your
computers- are you PAYING for the use of material that you don't own
the copyright for?

But was this a real song (that is, can anyone document its release) or was it
just created for the episode. Think of how long it would have taken to round
up all those copies!

You only need one real copy, plus a couple dozen labels to paste onto
other records.

Odd. I have always assumed that "Mein Leibling, Mein Rose" was an
imaginary record made up for the purposes of this specific episode and
that the name "Carl Schmidt" was meant to be a joke as sort of a
generic all-purpose "German-sounding" name. It does seem curious that
nowhere in the credits , at least as far as I know, is mentioned either
the singer or the composer. (It seems to me that if it were an actual
recording in the real world, the credits would have included an
acknowledgement of the record company.) I wonder who did write it?
Possibly Herbert Kretzmer. I have no idea who might have sung it. Damn!
Now it's going to bother me.

Is RJ doing an impression of Marlene questioning copyright
infringement??? Satire or serious?

"Mein Liebling, Mein Rose' is not a real song. It's sung in fractured German
with a bad accent, probably by an Englishman.

One-Ten,

Thanks so much for the information on who sang Mein Liebling, Mein Rose. It
turns out that it is not the same artist we thought, but this info is very
helpful. And thanks for the website info, too. I have added it to my favorite
places.

I did an internet search on "Carl Schmidt" . . . it seems he gave up
singing and is now a real estate broker . . .

You aren't the only one! I'm utterly astonished!

There never was a Carl Schmidt. The song was composed by Laurence Johnson who composed the Avengers theme. The producer of the Avengers Brian Clemmons wrote the lyrics.
