It's about time someone like Russell T. Davies took a swing at reviving
The Avengers. It's been almost 20 years since that movie with Feinnes and
Thurman came out, so I think the taste is out of most peoples' mouths
about the franchise now....
I had such high hopes. The visuals in the trailer were spot-on. But my
God...Feinnes and Thurman...
My assumption was that the producers believed that if two pieces of wood,
or at least wooden actors, rubbed together, there'd be a fire. What was
really bad was the kiss. That killed it. Steed and Peel's relationship was
built on mutual respect, with no sexual tension at all. We didn't even se
them hug when she left--just a newspaper article and Emma telling Tara how
Steed takes his tea.
I'd love to see someone like Russel Davies do for that franchise what he
did for Dr. Who...
