Just curious...is anyone else a little miffed that the last "president"
in the president song is "Bill AND Hillary?" Not to even take a
political side in the issue, but even if this is a pseudo-educational
segment...you shouldn't cloud the issue just for a rhyme! (They didn't
list any other presidents' wives.)

Hey, this song was changed quite a bit from the one on the CD. That line
used to be "the president, first name Hillary!" Always bugged me because
that line should have been used for the Reagans...

They also changed the line about JFK. Wonder if people complained on
that one...

Well, in the "Variety Pack" CD version of this song, released about 6
months or so before we actually saw the cartoon itself, the lines read:
"The one in charge, it's plain to see / is Clinton, first name Hillary!"
That is not only funnier but it solves your "no other presidents' wives"
problem. But TR or whomever it was that commented on the modifications in
the lyrics for the screen version some time back simply claimed that he
"felt it worked better" with both the names. Perhaps a decree from above
(Steven? And I don't mean Pudner).

There are other changes also. The original version (on CD) said
Jefferson wrote the Constitution, which he did not, and also said
that one president "did fine" when actually he didn't, so they
swapped the "next in line" and "did fine" bits with the two
presidents of that verse.

You can study the differences in the AMLF, where both the original
and TV versions are listed. (Likewise for "A Quake, A Quake" except
in its case there were so many changes, the song is simply listed in
two locations -- once for TV and once for CD.)

Have you heard "The Presidents Song" on the 3rd A! album, "Variety
Pack"? There the lyrics were, "But the one in charge is plain to see
/ It's Clinton, first name Hillary". I thought that was funny, but
was kinda disappointed because they had done a good job of being
semi-factual throughout the entire song, and then they threw that in
for a joke. Be glad that by the time it made it to airing the
episode, they changed it to, "But the ones in charge are plain to see
/ The Clintons, Bill and Hillary". And besides, they aren't saying
the both of them were president, but they were both in charge. I
think that's better than what were going to do.
