Ok, In most places I've seen the line near the end of "Yakko's World" to
be "Ethiopia, Guinea Bisseau, Madagascar, Rwanda, Mahore, and Cayman," and
I assume this has been verified by many people via close-captioning and stuff,
but could someone tell me *where* Mahore is? I've always considered it to
be Mayotte, a French-owned island off the northwest coast of Madagascar.

I thought this was a good question so I broke out my microsoft bookshelf
CD (1993 edition) and did a search which turned up nothing. I then checked in
my Websters Unabridged dictionary (you know the one, about 4 inches thick)
and the closest they had was 'Mahori' which is the same as 'Maori' which is
a Native group from New Zeland. I went back and checked the lyrics on the
cd cover and it is indeed Mahore. Anyone have any ideas?

In article <2k4on4$9...@gap.cco.caltech.edu>,

You are quite correct, it should be "Mayotte" and not "Mahore".
I had supplied Scott with an updated and corrected version of that song
which I had transcribed myself, and this was in the FAQ for a time, but
unfortunately Scott chose to dump this in favour of the shabby transcription
that was included in the lyrics of the CD booklet. 50 lashes with a wet
lamprey for Scott! :-)

Here is (I hope) the correct transcription of Yakko's World:

United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru,
Republic Dominican, Cuba, Carribean, Greenland, El Salvador too.
Puerto Rico, Columbia, Venezuela, Honduras, Guyana, and still,
Guatemala, Bolivia, then Argentina, and Ecuador, Chile, Brazil.
Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Bermuda, Bahamas, Tobago, San Juan,
Paraguay, Uraguay, Surinam, and French Guiana, Barbados, and Guam.

Norway, and Sweden, and Iceland, and Finland, and Germany now in one piece,
Switzerland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Turkey, and Greece.
Poland, Romania, Scotland, Albania, Ireland, Russia, Oman,
Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Cyprus, Iraq, and Iran.
There's Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, both Yemens, Kuwait, and Bahrain,
The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Portugal, France, England, Denmark,
and Spain.

India, Pakistan, Burma, Afghanistan, Thailand, Nepal, and Bhutan,
Kampuchea, Malasia, then Bangladesh (Asia), and China, Korea, Japan.
Mongolia, Laos, and Tibet, Indonesia, The Philippine Islands, Taiwan,
Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand, then Borneo, and Vietnam.
Tunisia, Morocco, Uganda, Angola, Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Botswana,
Mozambique, Zambia, Swaziland, Gambia, Guinea, Algeria, Ghana.

Burundi, Lesotho, and Malawi, Togo, The Spanish Sahara is gone,
Niger, Nigeria, Chad, and Liberia, Egypt, Benin, and Gabon.
Tanzania, Somalia, Kenya, and Mali, Sierra Leone, and Algiers,
Dahomey, Namibia, Senegal, Libya, Cameroon, Congo, Zaire.
Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Rwanda, Mayotte, and Cayman,
Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Yugoslavia...
...Crete, Mauritania, then Transylviania, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Malta,
and Palestine, Fiji, Australia, Sudan.

Watch the episode again (if you've got it on tape.) Watch where Yakko
points. He's accurate with 90% of the other countries, so I assume he'll
point directly to "Mahore" or "Maori" whichever it is.

Indeed, as someone else has already 'pointed' out, when Yakko "points"
to this country, he's pointing right at a country named "Mayotte" (sp?)
Assuming the T's are silent, this would account for the pronunciation.
This is why we're so sure the lyric spelling is in error.
