This week, Pinky and The Brain toys went on sale at Wendy's. They
include: a miniture rocket with miniscule represtations of the lab mice, a
spinner/alarm clock with Brain, a PatB note pad and pencil, a Brain
"compact" (ala Polly Pocket/Mighty Max) and a TV with a "secret" picture
of PatB. The overall quality is okkay: not as good as first run
McDonalds, but better than the second run McDonald's toys.
In conjuction with the giveaway they are also running a contest
for people to guess which will the Brain's first new scheme of the new
year (sounds like the next new episode we'll get is 1.3.98). The choices
are a) invent a hypnotic suntan lotion b) stage a Broadway musical c)
build a machine that causes an eclipse [?] d) make himself the hero of a
tall tale. All of these sound like possible plots for shorts, so that's
something. The prizes are really neat, too. Grand prize is a 4d/3n trip
to Burbank and tour of WBA. First prize is a PatB cel signed by "Pinky
and The Brain" and a $100 WBSS gift certificate (Rob & Moe, natch; though
I think they are *way* over valued the cel. $1000 for a cel indeed...)
The other prizes are PatB videos, A! CD-ROMs, Pinky and The Brain
hardcovered book (?? I wanna know more about this; ARV $25), and a 1 year
subscribtion to the PatB comic book. Now here the kicker... you have to
between *5 and 12 years old*! ]:oP I hardly think that many kids
(especially below 9 years of age) would have much interest in PatB.
Rassafrassin'.... can I complain to WBWP?

Nah! That's just silly! Everyone would be wearing sunglasses at
the beach, and we already know the problems that can cause....

>b) stage a Broadway musical

While this plan has potential, I'm not really sure it's up the Brain's
alley. He seeems like more of a movie-guy to me. Theatre just doesn't
have the mass appeal needed to subdue an entire population.

>c) build a machine that causes an eclipse [?]

While causing -- or just ingeniously predicting -- eclipses is a
traditional way of scaring primitive tribes into submission, no
civilisation was every really that superstitious at any point in
history. Hah, except maybe in cartoons!!

>d) make himself the hero of a tall tale.

Egad, brilliant, Brain! By presenting yourself as a living
legend, people everywhere will want to follow you! Oh, wait,
no -- they'll make you do a cross-over reunion movie with Babe!

Time to take my little sister to Wendy's....

That may be true at your local Wendy's, but not at mine. I went there on
Tuesday to see what they had and turned out they still only had Dexter
stuff except for the bag the food comes in. So take a good look at their
promo stuff at the register before buying.

Here's an idea. Find a kid the right age and coach him/her, on the
condition that they take you along on the trip... :) Uh, if any WB lawyers
snif around, though. You didn't get the idea from me... :)

It does seem odd that after all this time, WB doesn't have a better grasp
of their audience's age. I thought no network executive so much as blinked
without ordering a some kind of demographic first. Oh, well...

LOL. Yeah, I would enter my naive 9 yr old brother in the contest. I don't
think they have the Patb things by me. I'm in Suffolk of Long Island NY.

Is there a mailing address that I could write to the company to get the toys?
my cousins wrote to the some adress and got all the Disney Burger King Aladdin
toys. I think I should have done it for El Rey Leon and A!. Too late. LOL. ANY
info, PLEASE email me at Film...@aol.com. THANKS.

P.S.-For all those who no habla espanol, El Rey Leon is spanish for The Lion
King. Later

I'd guess (b), Broadway musical. Why? Because in the last AOL P&tB chat
it was mentioned that there was an upcoming P&tB parody of "Cats"
entitled "Mice."
