Awesome, I set my PC TV tuner to record Animainiacs at 6am and to my
suprise, I now have the Macadamia Nut song at 640*480 high quality mpeg. I
know people like myself have been looking for a better copy than that old
quicktime file, well now it's here. Although, I don't have a place to store
a divx file, and I'm not going to be spending time e-mailing it to everyone.
So, does anyone have a spot to store it, possibly 15megs? Or maybe you guys
can find someone who has the old quicktime version on their site and have
him or her contact me for a newer copy to replace it.

Thought I'd get that out. Also, it seems the last couple weeks Nick has been
airing no repeats, but I heard that they will stop all togethor, and will
only air it on their digital channel, I hope not.

As far as I know, I'm the only person with the video on a site. If the
video you have is only 15 MB's, I could switch my video with your
better version without wasting space on the server. If you want to
send me the file on an IM program, my AOL Instant Messenger name is
"ObsceneFox" and my Yahoo Messenger name is "spicypizza". Plus on ICQ
I'm 7231926. I only have 56K, and I plan on getting broadband in the
coming months, but until then, you'll have to cope with the slow
speed.

I'll see about getting a good looking version at 15megs. I'll probably make
it 320*240 as most computers that are not 1gig or faster will have a hard
time playing a 640*480 divx. I'm on DSL right now, but through a router, so
I haven't ever got AIM to work on transfering files. Although, if you can
create a hotline server for me to upload to, that would work.
http://www.hotlinesw.com/gateway.html that's a link to download the server.
When you open the server app, you'll see your IP and you can change some
settings. Then Log into your site with the client, read the readme, I think
admin is defaulted to admin/admin for log/pass until you change it. No one
should log in unless you set the server for trackers and put a description
or give out the IP. You could let me upload directly to your site, does your
provider have a in browser file maintenance software? Ah, this might be
best, I think I have up to 20 megs on my free space with SBC GLOBAL, I've
uploaded a 7meg file there once, so 15 should work. I'll do that, and post
here when I get it up. Just tell me when you have it so I can take it down.

Also, even if you have DSL, you can only upload at 14 or so k a sec, but
download at 148k a sec, unless you have cable or $80+ a month DSL service.

talk to ya later

No annoying splitting into parts or whatnot:

http://www.squeep.com/~zorin/DotTheMacadamiaNut.avi

This is the whole thing, as encoded by TimothyB. Note that it IS encoded
in DivX5 and therefore you will need to download the appropriate codec
for your operating system at http://www.divx.com/ - Also note that if
you are using mplayer under linux, you will have to rebuild mplayer
after you install the new libraries.

Thanks a ton, TimothyB, this looks great. Hopefully no one will yell at
me to take it down, but there shouldn't be too many problems since this
is a low traffic group. Unfortunately if anyone DOES complain, I'll have
to oblige.

I suggest that others put it up as well if they can and announce the
locations to reduce the hit on this server.

Wow! The system requirements for DivX are HIGH! It needs a 450 MHZ
PROCESSOR! I wish I knew that before downloading the video! I have a
250 Mhz processor. I wasn't even getting the video signal when I
played it! Plus, the audio I was getting kept pausing. I've never had
a video that suffered on this system until this one. I know, I don't
have the latest version of DirectX, which DivX requires, but I'm sure
my computer would slow down even more if I installed a new DirectX
driver. System requirements keep rising for new software. I AM getting
a new computer soon, like, next year when I get my tax refund, but
that's still several months away. I'll burn this video to CD and see
if any of my friends have a fast enough computer to play it. Either
that, or I'll wait until I get my next computer, a long time from now.

Go ahead and install the new DirectX driver, and the latest (DivX5)
codec and try again. The DirectX driver can make a BIG difference, as
it's what interfaces with the hardware in your video card to do
colorspace conversion.

That's another factor; what video card do you have? Do you have the
latest drivers for it? If it's an old card that can't do hardware
colorspace conversion, you may be screwed as this requires a LOT of CPU
to do in software.

It takes about 2% of my Pentium III 675Mhz to play the video, on
average, so even a 200Mhz Pentium should be able to handle it if you
have a decent video card and good drivers. Of course, I run Linux so I'm
in a slightly different boat, but the video decoding code should be the
same as it's from the same company.

Space is another factor. I am very low on available disk space, so I
don't plan on installing anything I don't need. I'll wait until I get
my new computer and copy the video to it. Meanwhile, I might be able
to upload your video and the old .mov file to my newest high-MB
website, IN WHOLE! I recently got a new website from Pow Web, and will
be uploading several things to it. I make no promises, but I'm excited
about this new site. I'm glad I have a friend with broadband, because
dialup is no way to upload multiple 15-20MB files.
