If she set to prove that she isn't as dumb as she appeared on the
pageant, she's not doing a very good job. She thought they were going
to China and said "danke" (which is German) to someone.

It was Jordan who thought they were going to China. I caught the "danke,
though, and thought that was pretty funny. I kind of felt sorry for the
beauty queen, though, when the guy was doing his killer impression of her.
Being all over you-tube with that kind of brilliance must be really hard to
live down.

I don't think it was fair that the guy was making fun of her and kept
doing his impression of her. I mean, I don't think the other teams
had a clue who she was until he started in on her.

Maybe...talk about starting with a disadvantage!

When you enter a competition where you're being judged, you gotta take the
bad with the good. And frankly, I think having to deal with a humiliating
situation like that is one of the best things that could probably happen for
a teen beauty queen.

Yep - look, nobody is going to claim that the girl is brilliant - but
you are seriously underestimating someone if you judge them by one
instance of stupidity; a major instance on national television, no
doubt. But I think it will work against the team of brothers if
their goal is to obsess over the "beauty queen" the whole time.

OMG ... I just realized there are two Jordans in this race! I noted
the gay brother's name last night, but since I don't watch Big Brother
I didn't realize the gal who'd been on BB is also named Jordan.
<http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b167129_amazing_races_16_teams_are_all_over_map.html>

This could get confusing if both teams remain in the race for a while.
And I certainly hope the brothers do. At least they realized they
could incur a penalty for losing one of the paintbrushes. (Would Phil
have been satisfied if they'd stopped in a hardware store and bought a
replacement paintbrush?)

And my other 2 cents: methinks Jordan (the brother) would be an
enjoyable dinner date, but Sam or Dan would still be preferable for
after-dinner activities.

Yeah, when I heard her say "Danke" I thought, "We're not in Argentina
yet, sweetheart."

Oh, get over it -- it's not like he put super glue in her shampoo
bottle. Just about everything is fair in TAR -- you *want* to put
your competitors at a disadvantage if you can.

Plus she did a pretty good job of torpedoing herself.

All the gays in this race made me cringe at times -- not just the
brother Jordan, but Carol and Brandy as well. Attempts to be one-up on
"hipness" and camp would go over well on a gay cruise, but this is
playing to Middle America, guys. I think it's feeding the stereotype
that we consider ourselves a bit smarter and a lot more wittier than
the straight population. Guys, you're not going to win fans if it
comes across as gays ridiculing straights.

At least someone squashed the rumor that Carol and Brandy had been
asking if Caite had brought her tiara.

But I did think Carol and Brandy were trying a bit too hard when they
said they'd be "golden" if a clue said "find the nearest Louis
Vuitton." (Didn't you mean to say "the nearest Home Depot," sweetie?)

Jordan Pious-the guy who made fun of her-did have his comeuppance in
a way by his team loosing the paint brush and getting a 15 minute
time penalty. Before that he did admit that he underestimated that
team. Even though Caite & Brent misread the clue and got a 30 minute
penalty I don't thing Jordan P. is going to make fun of her so much
from now on. That and Stevie & Allie painting the inside of the house
and the Cowboys Jet & Cord trading in their perfectly good Yankee
dollars for Brazilian money while going to Chile should keep the dumb
beauty Queen comments to a minimum. Sort of like making fun of Dan
Quayle spelling "potato" potatoe" and then you spell ketchup "Ketsup"
would shut you up for a while LOL (ironically "potatoe" is the right
spelling. It is just an obsolete way of doing so. George W. Bush's
"mistake" calling a Greek national a "Grecian" was also actually
correct)!

I just don't try to judge people by the one stupid mistake they do
especially on a tv show or contest when the pressure is on. Once you
make a mistake like that in front of people you are going to get
jumped on and I think that is unfair and often people do that to make
themselves feel superior if they are jealous and/or just don't like
the person for some reason. Here is an article that brings attention
to her for misreading her clue:

http://tinyurl.com/yl49tlg

But they fairly point out the blunders the others made (except Stevie
& Allie painting the wrong side of the house).

I hope she does well.

Exactly! And while Caite-her name-didn't make herself look good by
misreading the clue. The others didn't show themselves to be too
brilliant either losing paint brushes and painting the wrong side of
the house (the inside) or getting the wrong national currency.

The gay dude was kinda funny. I don't think I could have resisted reciting
her speech either. The lesbians seem like real bitches, which I actually
think will be entertaining so I hope they stick around awhile.

The lesbians came across as if they were cast to possibly be another Team
Guido. At least that's how I viewed them in the first episode.

I think that's a good comparison. Intelligent evil.
