##### PURPOSE #####

The purpose of this document is to provide a record of every known
actor who has appeared on the television series "3rd Rock From the
Sun." It is written solely out of interest in the program and respect
for everyone whose work creates it. It is meant to complement the "3rd
Rock From the Sun" episode guide written for alt.tv.3rd-rock, and it
will be posted around the first and fifteenth of each month in
alt.tv.3rd-rock. It is also posted on the web at:
http://users.110.net/~ps3776/3rdrock

##### USAGE GUIDE #####

This cast list is arranged alphabetically by the last name of each
actor listed. The name of the character portrayed by the actor will
follow in parentheses. The entry will then list the production numbers
of each episode in which the character appears. (A list of all episode
titles and production numbers will precede the cast list.) Most
entries, except the obvious ones, will also contain a brief character
description for further identification. Unconfirmed character
identifications will be noted with the symbol -- after the name of the
character.

If an actor has portrayed more than one character on "3rd Rock From the
Sun," the actor will have multiple entries in the cast list.

The two-part episodes (ie. #201/#202, #225/#226), have been divided
into their individual episode numbers in the cast list. Even though
each pair originally aired together as a single broadcast, they each
bear two different episode numbers which will probably air separately
when the series becomes syndicated.

Normally, any guest actor who has a spoken line in an episode is
credited in the end crawl for appearing in the episode. On occasion,
an actor will appear in the crawl even though his or her scene has been
edited out of the final broadcast version of the episode. Even less
often, the crawl will credit someone who does not appear on-camera but
still has played an integral part in the episode--the "handler"
(trainer) of an animal, for example.

"Handy Dandy" Tip: Most word processing programs have a "search"
function that allows specific text to be located easily. This is very
useful for finding a specific character's entry in the cast list if the
actor's name is not known, or to pin down the entire cast list for a
specific episode number. Just search for the desired character name or
episode number.

##### "3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN" EPISODE LIST #####

Following is a list of titles for each episode of "3rd Rock From the
Sun," in order of production. The production numbers were assigned by
the production company and are used here for reference. The first
digit indicates in which season the episode was produced, while the
last two digits define the order of production within that season. For
example, episode #111 is the eleventh show filmed during the first
season, while episode #211 is the eleventh show filmed during the
second.

Plot descriptions and original airdates for each episode are available
within the alt.tv.3rd-rock FAQ and Episode Guide, which are posted
around the first and fifteenth of each month to alt.tv.3rd-rock, or at
the official "3rd Rock From the Sun" web site:

##### FOOTNOTES #####

This section contains an explanation of any guessing done in the
creation of the cast list, and as a plea for help to confirm or deny
those guesses. The notes are in order by production episode.

During the making of this cast list, a pattern seemed to emerge with
the closing credits; apparently, each guest with at least 1 spoken line
is credited at the end of the show. This assumption is used, along
with the process of elimination and other "detective work", in the
attempt to determine the identity of each character and actor.

Any entry denoted with a "++" is 99% or 100% certainly correct. For
detailed proof of identity of a certain character, please e-mail the
author (me) with an inquiry. If anyone can clear up any uncertainties
contained here, again, please e-mail me. Thanks. BW

105: Can't account for Pat Lach, credited for the part of "Mother".

107: The fast food speaker voiceover is apparently uncredited.

109: Total confusion among Jeff's wife and the daughter who adopt
Harry's dog. The choices are: Lindsey Haun as Lisa, and Katie
Layman as Muriel. This mess is further complicated by the fact
that Jeff calls his wife "Emily" during the course of the episode,
and there is no character named Emily in the credits. Also, the
car radio announcer is apparently uncredited.

116/117: Teresa Tudury. The lady in red seen in the background of the
pancake house (116) looks just like the waitress behind the
counter in the diner (117). The actress is listed in the credits
of both episodes, but has no speaking part in 116. Based solely
on looks, it must be her in both roles. Opinions??

120: Can't account for Jan Claire, credited for the part of "Nurse
Wounds."

206: The credits list Mike Ditka as playing the part of "himself",
although he shows up in 214 with essentially the same role billed
as "Coach Mafferty."

207: Can't account for Michael Adler, credited for playing "Handler".

208: 3 Characters--"Brianna", "Victor's Dad", and "Porthos"--are in
the credits but apparently not prominent in the episode. They
could have appeared in a scene cut from the final version of the
episode.

211: The end credits for this show contain an error; the part of Nina
is credited to SIMBA Khali.

212: Who's who in Sally's giftwrapping line at the mall?

222: Apparently, the first telephone voice during Sally's appearance on
TV went uncredited.

225/226: John A. Huoy, credited with the part of "Rico", is uncertain.

307: Attorneys 2, 3, and 4 were uncredited voiceovers. Also, the part
of "Gretchen", credited to Amy Bryden, is unaccounted for.

312: At the dance, there are 3 ladies with speaking parts but only 2 in
the credits--not sure which is which.

314: Unsure about the 2 "perky idiots" listed in the credits.

315: Cannot differentiate among 5 female cast members: The 4 pregnant
ladies Sally meets and the Lamaze instructor.

318: The parts of "Delores" and "Diner", played respectively by Gloria
LeRoy and John Webber, are unaccounted for. "Diner" had an
exchange with Dick just before Dick introduces Mary to sing at
the bar, but the scene was cut due to time constraints.
"Delores", wherever she was to appear, was probably cut for the
same reason.

321: Unsure which is which between Don's fans, but since "Jill" had 2
scenes, the assumption is being made that she was listed first in
the credits.

323: Unsure which is which between the 2 guys at the career fair.

324: Dubcek was part of the "packing the Rambler" scene but was cut due
to time constraints. Also, trying to sort out the Beaver Scouts'
names made me take an Advil and give up.

401: Can't account for "Venetta" (Jim Jackman) or "Carlos" (Lawrence A.
Mandley). Their scene may have been cut in post-production.
There was a man seen for a split second carrying boxes with Nina,
and there was a policeman standing next to Rico talking to
Sally--neither of these 2 characters had any lines that made it
on-air, but if their lines were cut in post-prod. they still may
have made it in to the end crawl (credits). Anyway--either the 2
missing cast members are these two, or two others we didn't see at
all.

402: There are 2 females in the credits, but only one onscreen--the
psychic. She is probably Alex Alexander, but not sure--the other,
listed as "Dahlia," could've been a carnival patron whose lines
were cut. Also, I'm short on knowledge as to which midget is
which.

407: Can't distinguish who's who among the madrigal singers.

411: Can't distunguish among the badasses.

415: Can't distinguish among Sally's salon customers.

421: Can't distinguish among the men at the shelter.

506: Can't identify "Hannah" played by Lisa K. Wyatt.

508: Can't identify "Man's Voice" played by Mendi Segal.

521/522: Can't distinguish among the students and "Girl #1".

French's fiancee is Kathryn Lanasa.

323: Thanks to Baj for making some corrections.

I was also in episodes 415 and 503, but the scenes were cut for time. And
just to nitpick, Happy Doug is the bar owner. Harry is the bartender.

Since my wife cast the show for seasons three, four, and five, maybe I can
dig up answers to some of the questions regarding who was who. I'll see
what I can do.

Of course! I will correct that ASAP.

Wow, thanks! For those of you that remember Nathan (he was our high
commander), the Unofficial Cast List was his pet project... I'm just trying
to keep it going in his absence.

Hey, yeah, whatever happened to Nathan? And Warren Peace? I imagine
there are others we've lost along the way, but those two spring to mind.
Guys? Are you out there lurken? Will you come back just to to say
"hi"[or "bye"] when we hear the Big News [cancellation or pickup] from
the Big Giant Head of the Network?

BTW, one way to know what's going to be saved and what's going to be
cancelled, I'm guessing, is to see if the Network is one of the
producers of the show. Carsey-Werner owns Third Rock. I believe I read
NBC owns half or something of that dumb football league. Ready for your
pop-quiz? Which one will still be on next season?

Actually, they are probably both gone. Though I wish 3rd Rock could
stay. The football league that you speak of, the XFL, is doomed.
Their ratings are worse than the USFL and XFL insiders are now saying
anonymously that they won't be able to financially have a second
season.

Both Nathan and Warren Peace "retired" from the newsgroup to concentrate on
more pressing matters in their real lifes (imagine the nerve!). IIRC,
Nathan hinted that he might return at some point in the future. At any
rate, I wouldn't be surprised if either or both of them poked their head in
at some point in the future.
