Hello,

I must say that has been very nice to find the CNews Canadian Press news wire
service. It is only updated on a daily basis, but it still provides a nice,
concise set of articles on local crime news events all over the country of
Canada. If anyone is looking for an easy way to stay up to date on crime news
in Canada, without having to read dozens of online Canadian newspapers, just
e-mail me and I'll be happy to direct you to the C-News Canadian news tickers.

Anyway, over in Hamilton, in Canada, a 60 year old woman named Lucia Piovesan
has just been found "Not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder", in
connection with the stabbing death of a two year old boy. A jury yesterday
declared that Lucia was "incapable of understanding what she was doing" when
she took a knife in hand, and brutally plunged the knife 10 times into 2 year
old Zachary Antidormi, killing the toddler.

What this verdict means is that Lucia is being sent to a mental hospital, and
will not serve any jail time in connection with this murder. She will be held
at a mental hospital, until a mental competency review board declares that she
is fit to be released. When and IF that ever happens, Lucia will be FREED.
Cool! But in all likelihood the review board will never grant Lucia her
freedom, unfortunately.

60 year old Lucia is a widow, and her son is also dead. All three
psychiatrists who testified at trial agreed that Lucia was and is a paranoid
schizophrenic, and they all agreed that she should not be held criminally
responsible for murdering this two year old boy. Lucia believed that the spirit
of her own dead son, Enrico, who died of AIDS in 1991, lived INSIDE of the two
year old boy that she murdered. She further believed that by stabbing the two
year old boy to death, she would be releasing the "spirit" of her own son, the
one who died in 1991 of AIDS, and that her own dead son would then be REBORN to
her DAUGHTER! Wow, that is a cool theory. Lucia believed that after killing
this 2 year old boy, her own daughter would become pregnant and give "rebirth"
to her own son, the one who died in 1991! Pretty irrational theory, but cool
and intriguing nevertheless!

Lucia has a 25 year history of mental illness, and she also believed that the
catholic church was stealing BODY PARTS from her children, and then
"implanting" the body parts into the offspring of priests! Excellent, Ya gotta
admit, Lucia has a very creative mind. I sure hope that Lucia manages to cope
well with life in the loony bin, and that she is NOT forced to take any type of
medication against her will. She is as entitled to her beliefs, as any of you
pathetic humans are entitled to yours.

Take care, JOE

TOT'S KILLER 'NOT RESPONSIBLE'

STABBED HAMILTON BOY TO DEATH

By BRAD HONYWILL -- Toronto Sun

HAMILTON --  Child-killer Lucia Piovesan is headed for a mental hospital
instead of a jail.

"We find that Lucia Piovesan committed the act of first-degree murder but is
not criminally responsible because of a mental disorder," the jury foreman told
a Hamilton courtroom last night.

But it took eight hours of deliberation before the 12 jurors agreed Piovesan,
60, was incapable of understanding what she was doing when she stabbed to death
Zachary Antidormi, 2, of Hamilton.

The verdict followed testimony from three psychiatrists who said Piovesan was
a paranoid schizophrenic. All three psychiatrists, including one from the
Crown, said the widow should not be held criminally responsible for plunging a
knife 10 times into the toddler.

The psychiatrists' testimony was emphasized repeatedly by Justice Walter
Stayshyn in his charge to the jury, sparking jeers from the Antidormi family.

"He told them the verdict," Zachary's father, Tony Antidormi, said.

Stayshyn ordered that Piovesan be held in a mental hospital until a review
board decides she is fit to be released. She was returned to St. Thomas
Psychiatric Hospital near London last night.

"For us it doesn't matter where she goes," Tony Antidormi said. "But call her
guilty at least."

The trial was marked by testimony on Piovesan's bizarre conspiracy theories.

Court heard that Piovesan believed the spirit of her dead son Enrico lived
inside Zachary.

She believed her son, who died of AIDS in 1991, would be reborn to her
daughter once his spirit was freed from Zachary's body.

The Hamilton widow, who had a 25-year history of mental illness, also believed
the Catholic church was stealing body parts from her children for implantation
into the offspring of priests.

Even the daughter of well-known Hamilton MP Sheila Copps was supposed to have
received some of these "doctor-calibre" parts, according to Piovesan.

Stayshyn said he hoped the government would recognize the "desperate need" of
people in Piovesan's condition, and make the necessary changes for their
treatment.
