Crime devotees and readers of the Human Lost and Found may recall the
mysterious disappearance of Joyce Chiang, an attractive young attorney for
the Immigration and Naturalization Service. She disappeared one wintry
afternoon in January on her way to a Washington D.C. coffee shop. Soon
afterward, some of her belongings were found in a park. Police dredged a
river in the park and recovered a body. However, as sometimes happens, the
body was NOT the one they were looking for.

Three months later, someone spotted a body floating in the Potomac River near
Alexandria, Virginia. Reportedly, a bank card found in a stocking on the
decomposed body is Chiang's. Dental and other identificaton techniques could
not confirm the body as Chiang, so police are awaiting DNA tests.

(from the AP)

Washington-AP -- Police say a bank card found on a decomposing body pulled
from the Potomac River belongs to a missing Immigration and Naturalization
Service lawyer.

Sources tell The Associated Press that Joyce Chaing's bank card was tucked
inside a stocking.

Officials are awaiting the results of D.N.A. tests being done by the FBI on
the decomposed body, which was found last week in the river near Alexandria.

Chiang was last seen January ninth near Dupont Circle in Washington.

I called America's Most Wanted on this crime. It was aired 2 - 3 months ago
I assume around the time of Chiang's disappearance. I think she disappeared
from a Starbuck's and wondered if it was the same Starbuck's that was robbed
and all employees killed (solved). It wasn't. I was told soon after the
airing that no tips had come in on it, either.

INS? Don't they import and EXPORT people? Motive?
