Here is an interesting news item on a serial rapist and likely serial killer
over in Australia. Raymond Edmunds is the name of our enraged predator, and
unlike the rather impressive nicknames and monikors that MOST serial attackers
receive from the media, Raymond has been dubbed "Mr. Stinky" by the media!
Bummer. But maybe he likes this nickname, and if so, more power to him.
We learn below that Raymond, already found guilty and serving out a Life
prison sentence for serially killing 2 teenagers WAY back in 1966, is now
considered to be the prime suspect in the killings of a 16 year old beauty
queen and a 40 year old woman as well. He provided police with some details on
those 2 deaths, but stopped short of incriminating himself or claiming
responsibility for their murders. A police detective says that he is convinced
that Raymond was going to confess to these 2 additional killings, but changed
his mind after police cut short the interview due to a law that limits
interrogations to 6 hours or less at a stretch.
Raymond is also believed to have serially raped a whole bunch of gals, but is
not admitting to those crimes either. So right now he is only guilty, legally
speaking, of the two 1966 murders. sure hope that Raymond EVENTUALLY does claim
credit for all of his crimes. It's always a shame, IMO, when a serial predator
goes to his death not receiving full credit and attribution for all of the
killings and/or rapes that he has committed.
One woman raped by Raymond says that he told her that he had claimed many
more victims. She says it wouldn't surprise her if Raymond has serially killed
10 or more people, but that is only her opinion, and not based upon any
concrete evidence. The 16 year old beauty queen was murdered in 1973. She was
stripped naked, and her clothes FOLDED NEATLY in a manner almost identical to
how the clothes of one of the 1966 victims were folded. The 40 year old victim
disappeared in 1980, while on a camping trip with her family. Her throat was
slashed, skull fractured, and she had been raped. Both bodies were found
"snagged" by trees, in rivers. In a fascinating detail, we learn that the
HUSBAND of this 40 year old is the one who found the body, and DIED of a hEART
ATTACK while trying to pull her lifeless corpse from the river! So in
actuality, Raymond is RESPONSIBLE for causing his death as well. NOt legally,
but in point of rational fact. This man ONLY suffered a fatal heart attack
because Raymond chose to murder his wife. Raymond was camping himself, nearby,
when this murder occured, and had "left his campsite" on the night that the 40
year old disappeared.
Pretty fascinating case. It LOOKS like Raymond did kill at least 4 people, in
serial fashion, between 1966 and 1980. Obviously there MIGHT be many more
victims that he has harvested but that haven't been linked to him. In the early
1990's, the bodies of FOUR other women were found at a dump site. Raymond was
living in the area wheere the bodies were found. Obviously he is a suspect in
those 4 unsolved serial killings as well!
Declares a police detective: "When you looked at the areas where he lived,
there were always murders and rapes. But we were robbed of the chance to find
out about them. He (Edmunds) was a very calculating man. He did a lot of work
(surveillance) on his victims." Well, it sounds like Raymond was a TALENTED
and dedicated and cunningly astute serial killer.
It is NOT clear exactly WHEN Raymond was arrested. Like I said, he is serving
a life prison sentence, after being found guilty of those 2 1966 murders. But
he apparently was FREE until the early 1990's, at the very least. So I would
have to assume that he was arrested after 1991, charged with the 1966 killings,
and a conviction was achieved. I wonder whether Raymond confessed to these 2
killings?? Sure hope not, that would have been a very foolish thing to do.
Earlier this year Raymond pled guilty to 3 counts of sexually assaulting a girl
under 10 years of age. He did NOT kill this girl, however. And he had already
been found guilty of the 2 1966 murders and sentenced to Life in prison.
It certainly is cool to run across a news item like this one, and learn about
a previously unknown, at least to me, but quite possibly prolific serial
killer. Just the fact that he may have started killing in 1966 and wasn't
caught until the early-mid 1990's, is VERY impressive.
Take care, JOE

Mr Stinky link to two more murders

KILLER and serial rapist Raymond "Mr Stinky" Edmunds has been linked to the
murders of a Melbourne mother and a young beauty queen.
Veteran detective Ken Mansell said Edmunds offered details on the murders of
Bronwyn Richardson, 16, and Elaine Jones, 40, near the end of a 1985 police
interview.
He is convinced the foul-smelling sex offender killed the pair and was about to
confess.
But Mr Mansell, who left the force on Wednesday night, said an old rule
limiting suspect interviews to six hours ruined the chance to delve further.
The six-hour limit has since been scrapped.
Edmunds was being interviewed over the 1966 murders of Shepparton teenagers
Garry Heywood and Abina Madill and rapes in Melbourne.
Mr Mansell said Edmunds became "morose" just before mentioning Miss Richardson
and Mrs Jones, in the same way he had before admitting other crimes.
"There's no doubt in my mind that the next day he would have told us (confessed
to the killings)," he said.
"But we had to let him sleep on it overnight."
Mr Mansell said Edmunds talked to his lawyers and the next day he would not say
anything.
"It was the most stupid thing," Mr Mansell said.
He said a tape of the end of interview conversation with Edmunds had been given
to the New South Wales homicide squad.
"We still don't know to this day, because of the six-hour rule, what's locked
inside Edmunds' head," he said.
"I'm sure there's a hell of a lot more."
A woman raped by Edmunds also said she believed he committed many other crimes.
Gayle McDonald said in July: "I'm convinced he did other murders. I honestly
believe his murder victims could be in double figures."
Ms McDonald said Edwards – already serving life with no minimum term for the
Heywood-Madill murders – had nothing to lose by coming clean because he could
not get a longer sentence.
"I'd plead with him to tell the police and clear up a lot of this stuff," she
said. "It could end the pain and agony for a lot of people."
Bronwyn Richardson, of Corowa, was abducted from outside an Albury supermarket
in October 1973. Her semi-naked body was found snagged on a tree in the Murray
River two days later.
Her clothes were found neatly folded in an almost identical manner to those of
Edmunds' victim Abina Madill.
A former boyfriend of Miss Richardson was charged in February 1990 with her
murder. But the charges against Geoffrey Charles Brown were withdrawn later
that year.
The Herald Sun revealed two months ago new evidence had linked Edmunds to the
murder of Mrs Jones, who disappeared on a 1980 family camping trip to the
Murray River at Tocumwal.
Her husband, Alan, and their daughter found her body snagged in the river the
next day.
She had a slashed throat, a fractured skull and had been sexually assaulted.
A distraught Mr Jones died of a heart attack as he tried to pull her from the
water.
Mr Mansell said Edmunds had been camping on nearby Ulupna Island at the time
and it was known he left the camp the night Mrs Jones vanished.
A Ford Fairlane car owned by Edmunds was traced several months ago and has
undergone forensic tests.
The NSW homicide squad is investigating.
Mr Mansell, a former detective sergeant, worked on a taskforce which in 1985
charged Edmunds with two counts of murder, three charges of rape and two of
attempted rape.
But he believes the true extent of Edmunds' crimes will never be known. He said
Edmunds was also an obvious suspect in the murders of four women whose bodies
were found at Tynong North, east of Melbourne, in the early 1990s.
Edmunds was living nearby at the time, Mr Mansell said.
"When you looked at the areas where he lived, there were always murders and
rapes," he said.
"But we were robbed of the chance to find out about them.
"He (Edmunds) was a very calculating man. He did a lot of work (surveillance)
on his victims."
Edmunds pleaded guilty this year to three counts of carnal knowledge of a girl
aged under 10. He is serving his time in Port Phillip Prison.
