I just read your message at alt.true-crime at Google Groups re: Andrew
Luster. I'm curious as to why you wrote at the end of your message,
"Stay Strong, Andrew". What's that all about?
I'm not going to give out my name..because it's not pertinent...but
I'm a victime of Andrew Luster and I'm quite offended at your "Stay
Strong" comment. Obviously, you must not be fully aware of the nature
of the case or the nature/seriousness of his crimes, or I doubt you'd
be saying such things.
Question: You don't happen to be a friend of Andrew Luster's, do you?
Did you know him?

This is possibly what the other poster is talking about :
Judge to decide whether Max Factor heir to go to trial for alleged rapes
VENTURA (AP) ---- A judge will decide Thursday whether a millionaire
cosmetics heir should be tried for allegedly drugging women with the
date-rape drug GHB and raping and videotaping them in his beachfront home.
Andrew Luster, 36, a great-grandson of Hollywood makeup legend Max Factor,
is being held in Ventura County Jail on $10 million bail, accused of 50
counts of kidnapping and rape in connection with alleged assaults on three
women.
At Luster's preliminary hearing Thursday, prosecutors will present evidence
that Luster should face trial on the charges that, if Luster is convicted,
could earn him a sentence of life in prison plus 150 years.
From the cell where he is held 23 hours a day, Luster denied the
accusations.
"This is ridiculous, overblown and outrageous," he told the Los Angeles
Times. "Prosecutors are just slinging as much mud at the wall as they can
and seeing what sticks."
Prosecutors paint Luster as a dangerous sexual predator with multiple
victims in Ventura and Santa Barbara, with possible victims in Arizona,
Nevada and Mexico.
Authorities began investigating Luster in July after a 21-year-old woman
accused him of drugging and raping her after she and a male companion met
him in a Santa Barbara bar. Police allege that videotapes found in Luster's
home show him having sex with unconscious women.
Joel Isaacson, one of Luster's attorneys, contends the women who appear in
the videotapes are mostly former girlfriends, and only one appears to be in
a state of "questionable consciousness." He classified Luster's original
accuser as a woman who willingly participated in an orgy and later regretted
her actions.
"She did some things she was not proud of, having sex with two or three men.
This is how she justified her conduct to herself," Isaacson said.
Friends and former girlfriends have characterized Luster, whose Malibu
neighbors as a child included Barbra Streisand and Larry Hagman, as a
low-key guy who loved outdoor sports, didn't talk about his famous family,
and never used drugs.
Luster's famous great-grandfather, Max Factor, amassed a fortune selling
cosmetics to the Hollywood elite. The family sold the business in 1973 for
$480 million, and Luster's mother, Elizabeth, had homes in Malibu, Sonoma,
Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades.
Estimates of Andrew Luster's fortune range anywhere from $2 million to $31
million. Since the age of 18, he has lived quietly in his oceanfront home in
Ventura County and has spent his time traveling, surfing, and playing the
stock market.
But now, Luster said, he occupies his time with thoughts of his two
children, who he has not seen since his July arrest, and his case, which he
contends is more complex than authorities lead the public to believe.
"This is not an open-and-shut case by any means," Luster said. "That's what
the prosecution would like people to believe, but it's not."

RE: Andrew Luster's crimes...
He's facing charges for sodomy, rape, poisoning, torture, oral
copulation, possession of a controlled substance, possession of deadly
weapons, possession of priceless/stolen Indian artifacts, kidnapping,
etc., etc., etc. The list really DOES go on! Andrew is the
great-grandson and heir to cosmetics giant Max Factor and, therefore,
has millions and millions of dollars and is presuming that his money
will make him "untouchable", I guess.
The main, horrifying crimes he's being charged with are drugging women
with a substance called GHB (gamma hydroxy butyrate) and then having
sex with them while the women are unconscious (due to the drugging)
and torturing them in some cases...and also videotaping the rapes!
I don't want to get into TOO much detail...but wanted to answer your
inquiry about this case. I am, unfortunately, a victim of Andrew's
myself. I only learned immediately after his arrest last July that
this gruesome scenario happened to me four years ago -- that's right,
I had NO knowledge of it.
This is a disgusting violation of not only these women, but any person
in general. It's unfortunate that there are only a mere 3 women
testifying against Andrew -- the other 46 videotaped rapes, so far,
have to go without prosecution since none of the women on those tapes
are aware that he did this to them (since they were unconscious) and
so investigators are unable to contact those victims to have them come
forward.
Tammy, I'm hoping that this will give you a clearer picture of what
the nature of this case is all about. I ask that you, please, pray
that justice will be served and that a strict, fair sentence will be
handed down ultimately.
Bye for now.
Oh-- if you wish, you can e-mail me at Ocea...@aol.com.
I'm not sure who you intended to address this to but I'll offer my
input.
1) I have known Andrew for many years. He's always been a good guy if
a little imature.
2)I've worked for the Ventura County District Attorny's office in the
past and have been a Sheriff's Deputy.
3)I've seen more then a few good people lose thier jobs and families
to false accusations of rape.
4)Through a little hard work and a lot of luck I, Like Andrew, have
attained substantial wealth and as a result seem to be the target of
every women who can look up "Attorny" in the yellow pages.
In ever interaction I've had with Andrew luster he's been nothing but
polite and freindly. I've seen him interact with women and never once
before have I heard from any of the women about any unusual
circumstances. In fact, some of the women that I know who have dated
Andrew think that the charges are false and that Andrews accusers are
just looking to get paid.
I tell you that I for one am not sure that he is either guilty or
innocent, but there is this little thing called Innocent until PROVEN
guilty that I think needs to be rememberd here.
Here are a few circumstances that I find troubling. 1)The time frame.
This investigation did not start for a long period of time after the
alleged crimes. 2)The fact that some of the alledged victims are now
changing thier stories to the effect that They willing did drugs with
Andrew an "might have agreed to sex while under the influence" but are
now unhappy that it happened.
I myself have been the victim of one paternity suit and two more
attempts to sue for paternaty. Thank god for me I got snipped after
my child was born. It's funny how no women ever tried to sue me for
anything until I had a boat load of money. Now they are comming out
of the wood works.
I don't know if your a liar or a victim, but I do know Andrew and I
think he at least has a right to a fair trial and is likely innocent.
Whether or not you've known Andrew for "several years" and think he's
an overall "friendly guy", you obviously aren't aware of what the
charges are against him or the true nature of his crimes. You
mentioned that you've done GHB in the past and said you'd still know
if someone did something to you...but the instances in this situation
are MUCH different since it was given at almost fatal doses.
I'm not going to go into the gorey details of this case -- I just want
to suggest that you look into it MUCH further before you go slinging
around comments that the women who were victimized, raped and tortured
by him are "liars" or are "going after his money". I'll have you know
the case is The PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA versus him...not any
individual woman, and so, therefore, the victims are NOT receiving any
kind of monetary compensation for what he's done to them.
I was surprised to find that you were a prior District Attorney and
worked for the Sheriff's Department -- based on your attitude.
I guess you'd have to view the videotapes to realize just how
horrifying his crimes were. They'd literally turn your stomach --
even Andrew's high-priced, big-wig attorneys were cringing at the
content.
I AGREE that every person has a right to a fair trial -- and he's
getting that. I'll have you know, however, that, although we ARE
"innocent until proven guilty" (as you pointed out), that the judge in
this case was "mortified" by what he saw on the videotapes and
Andrew's demeanor during the preliminary trial, according to the
prosecution.
I recommend that you read up on some of the latest news articles re:
this case at http://www.insidevc.com/vcs/search/1,1380,VCS_224,00.html
If you're really as convinced that Andrew is such a "friendly", great
guy who's "innocent", I guess you'll just have to realize the truth
for yourself when he's hauled off to prison to spend the rest of his
life (clue: he's looking at over 1,000 years -- does that sound so
"innocent" to you?).
