***Could this be the work of the serial child killer operating around

Body parts identified as that of
missing girl, 12

Wednesday, August 25, 1999

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- The body
parts found in a drainage ditch in a rural community near
the
North Carolina border late last week have been identified
as
those of a 12-year-old Norfolk girl, police said Wednesday.

Virginia Beach police spokesman Mike Carey said Shanna
McIntyre was reported missing from her home on Aug. 11.
Parts of the girl's body were found Aug. 20 in Knott's
Island, a
community of about 2,000 that stradles the North Carolina
border.

Carey said investigators identified the remains using the
girl's
fingerprints.

Carey said McIntyre's mother had provided authorities with
a
picture and the fingerprints as part of the "Identi-Kid,''
program, which helps parents find runaway and missing
children. Her prints had been entered into a police
database.

Police have said McIntyre was killed at least five days
before
the body parts were found, but released no new information
on
their investigation. Norfolk police are handling the
investigation
because authorities believe the girl was killed in the
city.

Most of Knotts Island is in North Carolina, but the
northern
end is in Virginia Beach.

Hello Desilets,

There is an unsolved serial child murder case in Virginia. Just 2-3years ago,
approximately, three children, all young gals aged between 10 and 14,
disappeared from Spotsylvania County, VA, and after the bodies were found,
police & the FBI confirmed that all three killings had striking similarities,
including pubic hair shaving, that absolutely established all three to have
been the work of a serial killer. Nobody has ever been arrested or charged in
connectioon with those three killings.

Take care, JOE

I feel I must correct some mis-information given here.
1. the girls were aged 12(Kati Lisk), 15(Kristin Lisk) and 16(Sofia Silva)
at the times of their disappearances. (I hope I have the spellings correct).
2. only 2 of the girls are said to have been shaved.
3. someone WAS arrested for the Silva murder. He was not released until
the bodies of the 2 Lisk sisters were found. Prior to that time, the state
crime lab had "linked" him to the crime. However, since the second crime
was positively linked to the first, and the man in question was imprisoned
at the time of the 2nd killing(s), he was exonerated.

Interestingly, all 3 victims were found in/near water. The same seems
to be the case for this Norfolk victim.

Hi Desilets! Yes, in answer to your question (as Joe nicely pointed out
with the Info), there have been (I believe actually) Four unsolved (maybe
more!) child killings in or around the Virginia area. There is the two Lisk
sisters, and (I thought) TWO other separate unsolved cases involving young
women, all of which occurred within a few hundred miles of the Lisk crime.
Can Anyone else help me confirm this fact*? (I'm "sorry" at research* :-)

There is ALSO (this Could be related, IMO) several other unsolved murders
of women who were driving around the Virginia area and were abducted and
killed. The police at the same time had reports of many women coming forward
saying a man had attempted to pull them over using some sort of ruse, flat
tire, something wrong with their vehicle, etc. and when some of the women
(wisely) ignored him, he would get very angry, wave his hands at them etc.
I remember reading about this scary happening around 4 years ago or so, and
also "Unsolved Mysteries" did a segment on That "case", as well. Sadly
though it seems that these unsolved cases that I've mentioned are cold
cases, the shock has died down, and now they appear forgotten... by SOME.

Slim,
I can't think of any other unsolved child murders....though I'm sure
there are some in the area. I believe one of the murders you're
referring to is the Alicia Showalter Reynolds murder case. It
occurred about 30-35 miles west of the Lisk-Silva murders,
in Culpepper. Alicia was driving south on 29...I believe she
was from Baltimore and was heading somewhere in Va to
see her mother. She was seen speaking to a man on the
side of the hwy, and speculation was that he'd flagged her
down for some bogus reason. Her body was found several
weeks later, in a field in Lignum. (Strangely, the owner of
the land on which her body was found was also the owner
of the land where Sofia Silva's body was found....about 45
miles east in King George County. No connection there, they
say).

After her disappearance, numerous women came forward to
tell about the same (presumably) man pulling them over,
even giving rides to a few of them. They had a good description
of his truck, and an sketch which I still see displayed about
town. I believe this crime occurred in March-May of 1996,
so I assume the trail is somewhat cold by now.
