"He came in and everybody looked at him because hes never been there
before. I was with a friend of mine and we looked at each other and
thought that he was in the wrong place because a lot of people dont
know if its a gay bar or not. But even after he asked the bartender if
it was gay he stayed. He didn't even talk to anybody... he just started
attacking. I saw good friends of mine have their heads and faces cut
with a hatchet and then he started shooting everybody. All the people
in the bar were screaming and crying asking him to stop but the more we
all tried to stop him the more fuel it added to his fire and he never
stopped until there was nobody left to go after because people either
ran or lie on the floor dying. I am not trying to say that he is a bad
person or minimize his friendships with any of you, but what happened
that night was not fair to anyone. It was scarier than any horror movie
that you could ever watch. I just hope that if it was because he hated
gay people that his friends dont feel the same way, or at least not as
strong about it as he did. I just hope that if any of you do feel as
strongly as he did about it that you pay attention to just how all of
this ended and think about it. You can have your opinion of whoever you
want about whatever you want, but don't go out there and do something
stupid that does not change anything. People are not gay because they
want to be, they just don't choose it... who would choose to live in
fear that he might come back or that someone else might come. Who would
choose to be laying in a hospital bed fighting to live... If any of you
really are close to jake then you will know the pain you feel about him
fighting to live.... this is what everybody at the bar is feeling right
now too and it is not fair to us or you. Please do not follow in his
footsteps. Never forget your friend, but don't be like him."
