Updated: Tuesday, October 1 2013, 10:30 AM EDT CINCINNATI, Ohio (Angela
Ingram) -- The Cincinnati Stars Marching Band led a group rallying through
Over-the-Rhine. The message is one we often hear, "Stop the shooting.
Stop the shooting. Stop the killing. Stop the killing." But it bears
repeating. Outreach workers with the CIRV program say the key to stopping
violence is helping people improve their quality of life. "We can connect
them with services, assist them with employment. We have the ability to
take people from a hopeless state and turn their lives around by our
coaching, our mentoring, through our outreach." There was food and fun and
the group prayed for peace. Some say it takes a combination of police,
activists, and church leaders make a difference. The hope is that their
voices, their positive sounds will drown out the sounds of gunshots in
these streets.
