Over in Minnesota, two children, aged 4 and 2, are dead. They died after
walking/ crawling into an unused freezer in the basement of the house where
they lived with their inferior/incompetent slaveowners. Yes indeed, the two
small children were able to open the door to the freezer, crawl inside, and
then get the door to close behind them. They were obviously trapped inside, and
died, as the available oxygen in the freezer slowly got used up.
Police have NOT yet arrested either parent, but they say they are actively
investigating the case, and very possibly will crime child endangerment charges
against one or both parents. The Daddy, a fellow named Mike Baseman, says that
he found the 2 children unconscious and not breathing, inside the freezer. He
called 911, but all efforts to revive both children failed. Daddy claims that
the children were only "missing" for an hour, and police seem to concur with
the theory that the children were only inside the freezer for about an hour. I
guess that is POSSIBLE, a freezer is a small place, and oxygen can run out in
as short a time as one hour, I guess.
Police say they have no evidence that the parents deliberately murdered the 2
children, but IMO, it is certainly possible that the parents could have
forcibly placed the 2 children in the freezer, for the purpose of killing them.
The investigation continues, but cops say it is very unlikely that the parents
will be charged with anything beyond child endangerment, which carries a
MAXIMUM sentence of 5 years imprisonment. In this case, there is NO chance of a
5 year year, or even a ONE year prison sentence being imposed, as long as the 2
Parental Units put up a nice acting performance of being "terribly sad and
bereaved over their loss".
IMO, these 2 parents are guilty of GROSS NEGLIGENCE leading to DEATH. They
should be charged with manslaughter, at the very least. It was their
RESPONSIBILITY to know that unlocked freezers are dangerous to small children.
They have ADMITTED that they REGULARLY allowed their slaves to play all alone,
down in the basement, without securing the freezer in any way. That should make
them criminally responsible for the deaths of their 2 slaves.
I remember when I threw out an old refrigerator/freezer years ago, I used up
an entire roll of strapping tape to secure both the upper and lower doors,
recognizing that I could be held criminally responsible if anyone opened up the
refrigerator, went inside, and died as a result, while the refrigerator was out
by the curb. Believe me, I would have been perfectly happy to have a child, or
anyone else, get themselves killed by going into my old refrigerator, but I
obviously was not willing to face criminal liability and prosecution, so I did
seal up the doors with strapping tape. See what a law-abiding citizen I really
am, folks? :)
I think that a VERY good and clever way for parents to murder their
child/children is to place an old refrigerator in a basement or attic, pick up
the child while it is sleeping, carry it into the refrigerator/freezer, close
the door, and then call police a few hours later, and put on an Academy Award
winning acting performance of frantic grief and sorrow, claiming that the child
must have somehow gotten into the fridge by him or selfself and the death is a
TRAGIC accident. That is a CLEVER way for a homicidal parent to get rid of a
child, especially if the child is aged 3 to 10.

Brother, sister found dead in old freezer
March 9, 1998
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two children died when they were trapped in an unused
freezer in their basement, and their parents may be charged with child
endangerment.
Ciarra Baseman, 4, and Duaine Baseman, 23 months, died Sunday after crawling
into the unplugged basement freezer and closing the lid, Assistant Police Chief
Dwaine Winkels said Monday.
The father, Mike Baseman, found the children unconscious and not breathing. He
called 911, but efforts to resuscitate the brother and sister were
unsuccessful.
The children were in the freezer for an hour, police estimated.
Although the deaths were considered accidental, the county attorney's office is
awaiting a full police investigation before deciding whether to file
endangerment charges, which carry a maximum five years in prison.
State law prohibits unused freezers that fasten automatically when shut to be
accessible to children.
"It was common for the children to be playing down there,'' Police Chief Tom
Menning said.
Here are a few more details on the deaths of 2 children, aged 4 and 2, who
suffocated inside of an unused freezer in the basement of the house where they
lived. We learn in this update that the father of these two children was alone
inside the house, with his 2 helpless slaves, while his wife was out shopping.
At about 1 PM in the afternoon, Daddy Michael Basemen, entrusted to look out
for the health and welfare of his 2 slaves, FELL ASLEEP.
The 2 small children, bored out of their minds, abandoned by their mother and
ignored by their sleeping father, made their way to the basement freezer,
opened the door, crawled in, and the door closed behind them, suffocating both
children to death. Daddy Michael says that he was only asleep for an hour. When
he woke up, his 2 slaves were nowhere to be found. But he searched through the
entire house and eventually DID open up the freezer, and found his 2 slaves
inside, dead.
The district attorney is still awaiting results from an autopsy and police
investigation before he decides whether to bring ANY criminal charges against
the Daddy, despite the fact that it is UNDENIABLE that this Daddy's GROSS
negligence led DIRECTLY and absolutely, to the deaths of both children. This
slaveowner was entrusted with the responsibility of caring for his 2 slaves.
The mere fact that as the ONLY adult in the home, he allowed himself to fall
asleep at 1 PM in the afternoon, is enough to render him legally responsible
for any injury or death that his children might suffer, as he sleeps, IMO.
We learn that this freezer locked automatically from the outside, and there
was no way that ANY person, even an adult, who was inside the freezer with the
door closed, could ever open it from the inside. Despite the FACTS of this
case, which MANDATE felony criminal charges being filed, state prosecutors are
already declaring that they "hope it will not be necessary to file criminal
charges". Of course, the 2 slaves were WORTHLESS SUBHUMAN entities. The father
did not WANT to kill them, and that's all that prosecutors need in order to
proclaim the 2 deaths to be "tragic accidents with no criminal culpibility."
The FACT is, Daddy Michael is 100% guilty and responsible for causing both
deaths. He killed 2 helpless children, by virtue of his gross negligence and
incompetence.
But is he to BLAME? That's hard to say. After all, your society did NOT
force him to take any type of Parental Competency Test. Your society simply
GAVE him legal ownership of his biological creations, making no attempt to try
and determine his competency. Thus it IS a fact that whatever "guilt" Daddy
Michael might bear, your pathetic society bears MORE guilt and responsibility
than he does.
It seems VERY likely to me that NO criminal charges will be filed in this
case. Daddy Michael will successfully get away with TWO murders. Why will he be
so successful? Because his two murder victims were both his legally owned
slaves.
Take care, JOE

Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper:

Young Albert Lea siblings die in out-of-use chest freezer
Pat Doyle / Star Tribune
A young brother and sister from Albert Lea died Sunday after they apparently
crawled into a chest freezer while playing in their basement, pulled the door
shut and accidentally locked it while their father napped, police said.
Police said Ciarra and Duaine Baseman, 4 years and 23 months, respectively,
appeared to have died from suffocation inside the freezer, which was unplugged
and empty except for the children and a doll.
Their father, Michael Baseman, 28, told police he fell asleep for about an hour
Sunday at home while his wife, Michelle, 29, went shopping in the Twin Cities.
"I think he saw the children just before he fell asleep," said Police Chief
Thomas Menning. "He woke up, went to look for the children and eventually found
them in the freezer."
The children weren't breathing when Baseman found them at about 2 p.m., and he
called 911. Emergency workers gave first aid to the youngsters at home and on
their way to Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea. "At no time did they recover
consciousness," Menning said.
The Freeborn County attorney is awaiting a coroner's report and more details
from the police investigation before determining whether charges should be
filed.
The freezer is an old model that locks automatically from the outside with no
way to open the door from the inside. The state requires such models to be out
of the reach of children when not in use and says violators can be charged with
a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail.
The freezer is next to a basement room where toys and dolls were kept and where
the children often played. Menning said the children probably climbed into the
freezer with the doll that was found inside it.
In addition to reviewing the law dealing with freezer and refrigerator safety,
the county attorney will consider whether there is any evidence to justify
filing felony endangerment charges, said Erin O'Brien, an assistant county
attorney.
The endangerment law prohibits "intentionally or recklessly causing or
permitting a child to be placed in a situation likely to substantially harm the
child's physical, mental or emotional health or cause the child's death." It
carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
"I'm sure hoping we won't have to take that step," O'Brien said. "From the
little I've heard, it sounds like an accident."
The Police Department sent a report to the county attorney Monday that does not
recommend filing charges in the deaths. Menning said he opposes charges.
"We have no reason to believe it was anything other than a very tragic
accident," he said. "The message that needs to get out is: If you are in
possession of any of these old freezers, either dispose of it, remove the lid
or door, or remove the locking mechanism."

No offense meant, but wouldn't it have been easier to remove the doors
than to use all that strapping tape? Especially considering that an
inferior human intent upon subjecting you to criminal liability could
remove the strapping tape, crawl inside, and suffocate just to spite
you.

Hello George,
Time is a very precious commodity to me. It would have taken more time to
remove the doors, than it did simply sealing the doors shut with strapping
tape.

I was not worried about that possibility occuring. It is so remote, as to be
unworthy of consideration.

it's also possible that the tooth fairy locked them in there, or elvis, or the loch
ness monster. whether any of these are bloody likely is another issue. for that
matter, it's possible that YOU, yes, YOU, joe, locked them in there yourself.

It is significantly more likely that an adult living in the home forcibly
placed the 2 children in the freezer. I do not acknowledge stupid comments
regarding nonexistent entities like fairies and monsters.

It is more likely that someone with a key to the house, who lived in the
house, placed the 2 children in the freezer.
