Lukhnow - In a surprise move, the Lukhnow police on Sunday registered
a case of criminal conspiracy and murder against unknown persons in
connection with the mysterious death of Family Welfare department's
deputy chief medical officer Dr YS Sachan on Wednesday.
However, the police will not proceed with the investigation until the
State Government receives the report of the judicial inquiry ordered
by it.
"We have registered a case under Sections 302/120B of the Indian
Penal Code (Case crime No. 276/11) at Gosainganj police station
against unknown persons on the plea of Dr Malti Sachan, the widow of
Dr YS Sachan," disclosed DIG/SSP, Lukhnow, DK Thakur, while
confirming that cognisance was taken by them soon after receiving the
application on Sunday.
"Though we registered an FIR, but the case will be investigated by us
only after the findings of the judicial inquiry are received by the
Government," he clarified.
In a letter sent to the DIG and SSP, Lukhnow by Speed Post on Friday,
Dr Malti Sachan alleged deep rooted conspiracy behind the cold-
blooded murder of her husband Dr YS Sachan in the Lukhnow District
Jail.
Dr Malti Sachan said that, as her husband probably knew about large-
scale misappropriation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) funds
that had led to the murders of Family Welfare department's two CMOs,
Dr Vinod Kumar Arya and Dr BP Singh, and could have revealed the
involvement of some bigwigs, he was eliminated under a well-hatched
conspiracy before he could disclose the truth to prove himself
innocent.
Dr Malti Sachan pointed to the findings of the autopsy that confirmed
nine wounds, including a post-mortem dark mark around the neck that
clearly suggested murder and accused the State Government of trying
to project her husband's death as a suicide case to save the
culprits.
