Hi everyone. I've been looking for the answers to a couple
of questions on Zodiac suspect Lawrence Kane, and couldn't
find them anywhere... maybe you'll be able to answer them.
(BTW, do you know if the Humboldt University page is coming back?)

Anyway: I understand that Kate Johns identified Kane as
the man who took her for the "rather interesting ride".
When was it and what photograph was she shown - Kane's
police mugshot or a different one?

After the "ride", at the police station, Kate saw
the face of the man who abducted her on the Zodiac
composite hanging on a wall. Was it the SFPD poster
with two sketches where Zodiac is wearing glasses,
or the older one, done by McKenzie? I'm asking
because although Kane looks similar to the older
composite, he doesn't resemble the SFPD one too much.
Graysmith claims it was the SFPD sketch that Kate looked
at, but then Graysmith is hardly a trustworthy source.

One of Kane's aliases is "Larry Krew". What is
the history of this name? When did it surface and
in what circumstances? Did he use this alias
himself? Was it used by someone else in reference to
Kane? It interests me because of a certain linguistic
significance that stays in accordance with a few other
curiosities I noticed in Zodiac's letters.

Thanks in advance.

That website is forever buried.

Johns fingered Kane on 1-24-92. She initially was not shown Kane's mugshot.

I have all three Johns police reports, and the drawing that gave her a
reaction was the SFPD composite reflecting the officer's description. (The
composite on the right side of the poster.) Interestingly, it is not
mentioned in the reports that Johns was threatened in any way. Evidently, she
told Graysmith...but failed to provide the police with that crucial info.
Kidnapping charges were never considered. In fact, it was never even
determined that arson was the cause of her car being burned.

Harvey Hines came up with the name "Larry Krew".
I have Harvey's report on Kane, including his 75 points of comparison between
Kane and Zodiac, and most of the interesting connections are made between Kane
and Donna Lass...who has never been confirmed as a victim, and probably isn't.

I will be updating my page on Kane very soon, and soon will be adding info on
Allen from CI&I.
