OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada will start deportation proceedings on Monday
against a Japanese woman who let her two infant children die in an
apartment while she went away for 10 days to see a boyfriend, officials
said.
Rie Fujii, deemed to be suffering from mental problems, is set to be
released from jail in Alberta on Monday after serving more than five
years of an eight-year sentence for manslaughter.
"You are scheduled for immediate deportation to (Japan) and will be
removed by the Canadian immigration authorities directly from (jail) on
May 8," said a letter from Canada's National Parole Board to Fujii.
After breaking up with the father of her 15-month-old son and
three-month-old daughter, Fujii left the two alone in her Calgary
apartment in June 2001 to visit her new boyfriend in another town. Both
children died of starvation and dehydration.
Fujii wrapped her daughter's body in plastic and threw it into a
garbage dumpster and she rolled her son in a blanket. She then left for
another week to see her boyfriend, telling him the children were being
cared for by a babysitter.
"While visiting your boyfriend you pretended on a number of occasions
to call the babysitter to inquire as to how the children were doing,
all the while knowing that they were in fact dead," said the parole
board's letter to Fujii.
The little boy's body was discovered by the landlord, who alerted
police. The parole board said tests showed that Fujii was suffering
from a borderline personality disorder.

Too bad there isn't a legal way to kill this evil person under the
Canadian Criminal Code. This person was in Canada illegally and should
have been deported. The taxpayers would have saved over half a million
dollars if she had been. Another Immigration Canada failure under the
Liberal regime. The Tories should not shirk from deporting illegal
immigrants and those whose right to stay here has been revoked by the
courts no matter how much some special interest groups might complain.

1998: Moves in with Peter Brown.
April 10, 1999: Returns to Japan when student visa expires. Comes back
later that year on a visitor's visa.

June 5, 2001: Apartment owner Pritpal Sandhu opens door to Fujii's
suite after getting no response to June 1 eviction notice, calls police
after smelling rotting flesh.
June 6, 2001: Arrested for murder of Domenic.
