In November 2018, Lerynne West claimed a winning $349.9 million jackpot from the Iowa Lottery.

The lump sum came out to $198.1 million, and the Redfield resident pledged to give back through a new organization called The Callum Foundation.

West bought her jackpot-winning ticket at a Casey’s General Store in Redfield after recently moving into the Dallas County city.

But if you try and find Lerynne West on social media sites such as Instagram, you’ll quickly find there’s not shortage of impostors.

“These scammers are using fear in some cases to try to get people to give up information or money,” said Lynn Hicks with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.

And that’s the case with those posing to be West on Instagram. Lottery officials are aware the scam is going on, and have alerted the real Lerynne West.

A person using this name offered to be my FB friend. I thought it was suspicious that they claimed to live in Milwaukee but the picture of the lottery winner is a White woman in Iowa. The fake has a number of FB friends at least 90% Black which is odd for a White person.

Odd your FB page shows you living in Wisconsin and the "winning" check in your name is from the Iowa lottery. Give your money to a good registered charity.

Will be contacting the Iowa Attorney General about this liar. Wish someone would do something about this fraudster and the Joe Mulligan and Dave Mulligan fraudsters. Why does FB allow them on their platform after they are reported?

Sincerly,
