Kind of grisly. From the Indianapolis Star:

Indianapolis Star
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 3, 1999) -- From his cell in the Marion County Jail,
confessed killer John Adams wants people to know that he's not totally insane
and that the state of Indiana should put him to death sooner rather than later
for what he's done.
That includes, by his own admission, shooting his wife to death while she slept
and killing his infant son by smothering, poisoning and strangling him during
three days.
"I know everything I did was psychotic, but I'm not a totally psychotic
person," Adams said. "I feel I'm trying to be a man and ante up to it."
Adams, 24, faces preliminary murder charges in connection with the slayings of
his wife, Robin Schafer Adams, and his infant son, John Ramseys Adams. Their
bodies were found Sept. 22, stuffed in a chest freezer in a detached garage at
Adams' Westside home.
Dressed in orange jail clothes, wearing belly chains and leg shackles, Adams
told his story in a cellblock interview Saturday.
He said he killed Robin Adams April 19, because he couldn't figure out how to
leave her after meeting another woman in a nightclub. Early one Monday morning,
he said he got the gun he'd given his wife for Christmas, put a pillow over the
back of her head, and shot her four times as she slept.
He took his son to his new girlfriend's house and told her his wife had skipped
town. She agreed to take the child in for a while.
Adams then went back to his Westside home and tried to clean up the scene of
the crime. He'd learned enough by watching TV detective shows to know that he
had to hurry.
"A body is like a clock," he said.
So he bought a big chest freezer. He wrapped his wife's body in a tarp --
"because I didn't want to see her face or anything" -- then put her into the
freezer. He moved the freezer to the garage after nightfall.
Within a couple of weeks, he was on the rocks with the new girlfriend, so he
took the baby -- whom Adams always calls "little John" -- to his sister's home
in Anderson. He said he paid his sister $150 per week to take care of the boy.
But that didn't last long, either.
By mid-May, little John ended up back with his dad.
"I couldn't take care of him. I loved him to death, but he was a baby -- he had
no clue," Adams said. "There was so much going on with me at that time, it was
just a very crazy, hectic time for me."
Adams said he thought about abandoning the boy in another state, but he was
afraid authorities would fingerprint Little John and trace him back to his
father.
So, Adams said, he decided to kill the boy.
He claimed that he killed little John, then 6 months old, over a three-day
period in late May.
Adams first tried to strangle and suffocate the boy, he said. When that failed,
he injected the boy with bleach and drain cleaner.
Then he tried to strangle him with a phone cord. Eventually, he tied the cord
from the child's baby monitor around his neck, then sealed the boy's head in a
plastic bag. He left the house for the night.
Finally, he got a bigger plastic bag, sealed his son inside, then placed the
boy inside the freezer in the garage with the frozen corpse of the boy's
mother.
Adams claimed the boy was still alive.
The coroner's report wasn't available to corroborate his story. The coroner
reported the official cause of death as asphyxiation.
Shortly thereafter, Adams ventured Downtown to buy some maps of Brown County
State Park. He scouted the area carefully, hoping to find someplace to dispose
of the bodies of his wife and son.
But he never got a chance, because detectives from the Marion County Sheriff's
Department found the bodies when they went to arrest him for a pair of Pizza
Hut robberies.
After that, Adams went on the run for a week. He rented a room one night,
specifically to see whether he'd made America's Most Wanted. He stopped in St.
Louis, where he visited the Gateway Arch, watched the St. Louis Rams play, then
drove on I-70 toward Kansas City. There, he inspected Arrowhead Stadium, home
of the Kansas City Chiefs, and scouted out more pizza joints that he could rob.

But he was caught napping Thursday in his vehicle by police in Independence,
Mo. Fortunately for them, they rousted him from his van before he could get to
his gun.
"I would have shot myself, or shot one of them and got them to shoot me," he
said. Detectives brought Adams back to Indianapolis. He remains jailed without
bond. He's in solitary confinement to protect him from other inmates who might
harm him because of the nature of the crimes.
Adams concedes that his story sounds cold-blooded. But he insisted he feels bad
about what he's done, and that he wishes he'd put the gun to his own head on
April 19, instead of his wife's.
"I can't close my eyes without seeing my little boy," he said. "I can't get out
of my mind the look my son gave me. He looked at me like, 'Daddy, why are you
killing me?'"
"I couldn't take care of him. I loved him to death, but he was
a baby ... It was just a very crazy, hectic time for me."

Wow. And I thought the story about the father who bludgeoned the tots to
death during the school morning rush was the worst poor stress
management story you'd ever posted. Three stranglings, two plastic bags
and an injection of drain cleaner over a three day period? The only
thing good thing about this story is that it happened in a dp state.

Is this for real? This is one of the sickest murders I've ever
heard about. I wish he would have shot himself too.

This is so sick. How hard can it be to kill a 6 month old baby PAINLESSLY?
Why did this guy have to drag out the torture for 3 days?

I got calls from him after I was released. I still have the number of the recreational therapists, who gave me her number, who wanted me to come back up there. Laugh all you want. Ill give you info on the murders, that he didnt even mention there. My GED papers even show I was there. I got a letter from them when I graduated. Which I will gladly give proof of. Its hard enough to find any info on him these days. Last we spoke, he said he was found guilty and was sentenced. So either he quit calling or Logansport took his phone privileges. I was sure they had killed him. The entire time I was there, he pushed for it. He wanted to die. He doesnt even go into all that much detail in that interview. http://tinypic.com/r/2pq54iq/9

This is a great reason to have capital punishment . I am frequently psychotic and I don't kill babies or anyone else for that matter. This person is totally evil.
