Here is ANOTHER possible newly discovered at-large serial killer, at least
newly discovered to ME. Over in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, fears are growing
that a serial killer of gals is on the loose. Last week, the skeletal remains
of a 27 year old gal named Angelique Morgan were found. Cops have no SUSPECTS
or motive, but have ruled the death a homicide. We get the fascinating news
that beginning in 1992, ONE single gal has either been murdered, or has
vanished without a trace, from the city. That would give us 8 victims, and
detectives have clearly begun to suspect that a serial killer is at work, in at
least SOME of the 8 killings/disappearances.
I think it's very possible that an enraged societal victim could very
specifically DECIDE to claim ONE victim every year, for personal vengeance
purposes. The killer could have decided to deliberately and carefully space out
his murders, limiting himself to one victim a year. Why? Well, maybe he
realized that he stood a better chance of not being IDENTIFIED as a serial
killer if he spread out his murders so widely, or maybe he simply felt that the
DEGREE of abuse and brutalization that his society had subjected him to, only
JUSTIFIED him claiming a single victim per year.
We get interesting info on the victims, all were YOUNG gals, in their 20's
and 30's. All of them disappeared, and it took at LEAST a few days, in some
cases a YEAR or more, for their murdered bodies to turn up, after they
disappeared. This suggests to me that our serial killer at least TRIES to hide
the bodies well, and is NOT very interested in having the bodies found. This
killer strikes me as a "pure" killer, NOT really interested in fame, or in
playing games with police, or in having his murders linked together. His #1
interest and pleasure and cathartic emotional satisfaction, is in the actual
ACTS of murder that he commits. Most of the gals do seem to have had some
history of prostitution or drug abuse, but it doesn't sound as though they were
all "hard-core" prosty-druggies, as is the case in some other currently active
serial murder rampages, in other parts of the USA.
Cops confirm that SEVEN such murders are being actively investigated as being
the likely work of a serial killer. The victim found last week is PROBABLY #8.
Cops hint that OTHER gal murders, perhaps even dating back to the late 1980's,
might be part of this investigation as well, but they are being pretty
tight-lipped.
The head of the local county police homicide division, graces us with: "Some
of the women were prostitutes, but not all of them. Several were killed and
then dumped in remote areas. One or two were strangled; one was dismembered.
That's something to look at. Some or none of them may be related. We don't even
know the cause of death on some of the cases." Interesting. Could this serial
killer be DELIBERATING changing his modus operandi with each murder, to try and
AVOID having cops link them together and realize that a serial killer is at
work?? I think that IS very possible, and it would be a VERY smart tactical
move, and indicate the serial killer to have a LOT of CONTROL over himself,
making him all the more difficult to identify and capture.
We get a partial list of some of the victims, their names and how they were
killed. One of the EARLIER murders, that occured in 1994, is also one of the
most intriguing. 24 year old gal named Faye Marie Norris, a KNOWN hooker, had
her LOWER legs and ONE arm, CLEANLY severed, placed in garbage bags, and the
plastic bags were then placed along a creek, behind a thrift store & shopping
mall. The REST of Faye's body, including her HEAD, has NEVER been found. That
one DEFINATELY sounds like the work of a societal victim enraged enough to have
serial killing tendencies.
Take care, JOE

Body Identified
October 11, 1999
ABC
(PITTSBURGH) -- Pittsburgh police have been working with anthropologists from
Mercyhurst College to identify some skeletal remains found in Shadyside last
week. And the effort has reportedly been successful. Officials now identify the
body as 27-year-old Angelique Morgan. They don't have a suspect in custody,
however. Right now, they are working on a theory that she may have been just
one victim of a serial killer. Every year since 1992, at least one woman has
died or disappeared mysteriously in the area.

Police: Murders might be linked
By Julie Hannon
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
All of the women were young; at least one was the mother of young children.
Each fell out of sight only to be found dead, some days, months or even up to a
year later.
Some were reported missing. But others had made it a habit to pop in and out of
view of loved ones, had problems with drugs and sold their bodies to support
their habits. All were in their 20s or 30s.
City and county homicide detectives said Friday they are investigating whether
the unsolved murders and suspicious deaths of at least seven area women may be
related.
Investigators released few details about the cases yesterday other than to say
the deaths date back to at least 1992. One investigator said the probe might
also include one county case dating back to the late 1980s and a more recent
case from Westmoreland County.
Inspector Ken Fulton, head of the Allegheny County homicide department, said
city and county detectives will release particulars about the cases next week.
Fulton said that as of yesterday, his department was not working with
investigators from Westmoreland County.
While police insisted there are no strong threads connecting the cases, there
are intriguing similarities.
"There could be a link. Anybody who looks at a number of cases of young females
who just turn up dead would have to say so," Fulton said.
"Some of the women were prostitutes, but not all of them. Several were killed
and then dumped in remote areas. One or two were strangled; one was
dismembered. That's something to look at. Some or none of them may be related.
We don't even know the cause of death on some of the cases," Fulton said.
City and county officials announced they were working together on the unsolved
cases on Thursday, the day after the skeletal remains of Angelique Morgan, 27,
were discovered in a dilapidated gatehouse at Woodland Road and Fifth Avenue
near Chatham College.
Pittsburgh homicide detectives said Morgan's remains were identified through
dental records. Though there is no strong evidence of a killing, police are
treating the case as a homicide. The remains were covered by a mattress and
debris.
Detectives said Morgan's mother, Janice Elerby of Wilkinsburg, reported her
daughter missing on Jan. 24. Elerby told police she last saw Morgan alive two
days after Christmas.
Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Ron Freeman said Morgan is the mother of three
children, the youngest of whom is 18 months old. The children are believed to
be staying with their father, he said. A woman who answered the phone at
Elerby's home yesterday declined comment.
While city investigators work leads on the case, county police are
investigating a similar case in Wilkinsburg.
On June 28, the skeletal remains of an unidentified woman were discovered in a
vacant house in Wilkinsburg. An autopsy revealed the woman had been strangled.
Contractors found the remains in a basement stairwell while renovating the
property in the 600 block of North Avenue. The house had been empty for about a
year.
Other unsolved cases involving the deaths of young women include:
• Leah Hall, 33, of Ophelia Street, Oakland. Hall's body was discovered Feb.
26, 1997, along railroad tracks off Bell Avenue, not far from the Parkway West
overpass in Carnegie. An autopsy showed she had been strangled.
Investigators believe the woman was killed elsewhere and her body then dumped
near the tracks. Hall had a history of prostitution arrests.
• Dorothy Siemers, 29, of the North Side. Siemers' body was found Jan. 15,
1997, frozen in the ice of Pine Creek at the mouth of the Allegheny River in
Shaler Township. An autopsy revealed she drowned. Siemers had a history of
prostitution arrests.
• Faye Marie Norris, 24, of East Liberty. On Oct. 13, 1994, Norris' cleanly
severed lower legs and an arm were found in garbage bags along a creek behind
Wonder Hostess Bakery Thrift Shop and Royal Oaks Shopping Center on Route 286
in Monroeville. The rest of the body was not found. Identification was made
through fingerprints.
Norris, who was not reported missing, had been convicted of prostitution.
