April 6, 2005 - A key witness in the Kobe Bryant rape case is speaking out
for the first time about what the basketball star's accuser told him right
after the alleged attack, saying "I believe her" account of what happened
that night and "this thing should have went to trial."
Bob Pietrack was the bellman on duty at the Cordillera Lodge and Spa, near
Vail, Colo., when the Los Angeles Laker checked in on June 30, 2003. One of
Pietrack's co-workers, a 19-year-old front desk clerk, said Bryant raped her
that night after she gave him a tour of the hotel. Bryant said the two had
sex but claims it was consensual.
In police tapes made a day after the attack, he is heard telling detectives:
"She must want money or something, I'm telling you man, I swear on my life,
I did not - I did not sexually assault her in no kind of way whatsoever."
Bryant was charged with one count of sexual assault but prosecutors dropped
the case after the alleged victim said she was too traumatized to go
forward. The woman filed a civil suit against Bryant, which was settled for
an undisclosed sum last month - despite her lawyers' insistence that her
motives were not financial. The terms were not disclosed, but both parties
agreed not to talk about the case. Pietrack is no longer bound by the
court's gag order.
In an exclusive interview with ABC News' Cynthia McFadden, Pietrack wouldn't
say whether he thinks the basketball star got away with a crime - but he
says he is disappointed in the way it ended.
"I don't want to point the finger, and look at another man and point at him
and say, 'You are a rapist," Pietrack told McFadden in the interview, airing
Thursday night on "Primetime Live."
But Pietrack added: "This thing should have went to trial, and should have
been decided by 12 jurors, and whatever verdict they would have came back
with would have sufficed."
Pietrack is now an advocate for sexual assault victims, and says he had
chosen to come forward in April in recognition of National Sexual Assault
Awareness Month.
article continues at link posted above:
If it had went (?) to trial, then Katelyn Faber would have testified
whilst fully pregnant.
She would have to explain a whole lot more too.
Also remember that police and prosecutors scoured the nation looking
for other women Kobe would have raped. They didn't find a single one.

He is also a shoe-in for the "Dumbest Boyfriend In Colorado" and
"Dumbest Boyfriend Of The Year" awards.

He wasn't her boyfriend.
As to date.... why do you suppose Kate wants absolutely nothing to do
with the little pimpster prick.
Ask yourself why he didn't go get the autograph himself... instead of
sending Kate... especially after knowing that Kobe was booked under an
alias. Kate didn't know Kobe Bryant from Wilt Chamberlain.
Then ask yourself WTF would ask if Kobe kissed you just after informing
them you'd been raped. What kind of question is that?
He exploited her for his own personal gain (an autograph)... and I
suspect that he sent her down there (unknowingly to Kate) as a whore at
Kobe's request. That shit happens all the time. The little bastard set
her up... along with getting a little on the side for himself. He is a
major asshole responsible for a girl's rape. He deserves some serious
jail time for his dirty little deed.

IIRC, they found another woman he made moves on. She said no and he stopped.

Normally, I'm pretty much for the authorities pursuing rape cases if
they stand a chance of getting a conviction and I feel sorry for women
who may be raped but have the bad luck of being raped in situations
where there isn't enough corraborating evidence to convict the rapist
or where the prosecution botches the case (like the Brian Nichols rape
trial).
But in this case, IIRC they dismissed the case because the complaintant
said she wasn't going to cooperate because she didn't want the
publicity and didn't want to relive the incident, etc. Then she files
a civil suit. Well, if that civil suit went to trial, she'd have to go
though the same shit (actually even more, because she'd be subject to
discovery, including being deposed, before any civil trial, then have
to testify in the trial itself). So in effect she said she didn't care
about justice, just about being paid off. So while I wish Bryant would
have gone to jail if he raped her, unlike most cases where there's a
significant amount of evidence that a woman was raped I don't feel a
ton of sympathy for the complainant.
They all are or were her boyfriends at one time or another.
Including Matt Herr, whose dna was found all over Kate
Faber, although not on Kobe Bryant.
Alex
Right. Another hotel worker. And he didn't rape her either.
Alex
Riiiiiight... Suuuuure you don't...

And obviously Kate never took a bath/shower or changed her underwear.

Matt Herr refused to voluntarily give a DNA sample. So unless you're
aware of a covert sample taken without his consent that identified him
as Mr. X...
Geez... and Peckertrax wants to write a book to support his new found
rape advocacy? Give me a break.

Any of her other boyfriends _refuse_ to submit a dna sample?
Individuals who refuse giving dna samples is exactly the thing
that the police look for when they don't have a suspect and
get all the guys from the neighborhood to submit a sample.
But in this case, it isn't suspicious at all? She called Matt
Herr after having sex with Kobe. Mr. X's dna is all over
Katelyn (not just her old clothes - on swabs taken,
everywhere) and not on Kobe Bryant at all.
That is a _very_ short leap to make. A jury would make it.
Alex
Unlikely, she's due in May, the trial probably wouldn't have been until
late this year at the earliest.

Given that the prosecutor was so incompetent,it took him a whole year
just to discover that she wasn't the one who assigned the rooms, the
fact that he couldn't find other victims doesn't mean much. Lin Wood
called Kobe a "serial sex offender" in a court filing, and he's a very
good lawyer who woudln't have left himself open to a counter-suit, by
saying that without something solid to back it up. Rumor has it there
were at least two other women assaulted by Kobe, one at a party in
Florida, and one in New York. There's also some question about whether
the Portland woman who said on GMA that Kobe stopped when she asked him
to, originally told a different story to a co-worker, before she talked
to Kobe's defense team.

Considering how readily so many women fall on their backs when one of these
guys merely touches them it may be that these 'sports figures' have an
unrealistic notion of how most women actually behave.

Oh well, we can't doubt good ol' Lin Wood, now can we?

Lin Wood is an ambulance chaser. He has made a lot
of allegations that went nowhere. All he was doing was
trying to turn up the heat so he could get a higher
settlement for his client.
This case was dead in the water before it was filed.
A client by the way, who filed the civil suit before
the criminal trial was underway.

Rumor?

The prosecutor wasn't the only one scouring the country
for women who had slept with Kobe. There were lots
of detectives doing the same thing.
Remember that they even found the hotel worker Oregon,
and they couldn't get her to say anything bad about Kobe,
as hard as they tried. Nothing about her changing her story.
Unlike Katelyn Faber, who lied about being locked into
the bathroom, lied about why she was late for work, etc.

No wonder this guy is a bellman with grammar like this.
