TAYLORSVILLE - No matter what investigators find at Lisa Ainsworth's Leaf River
Veterinary Services property near here, friends say she is innocent of any
wrongdoing.

State investigators are searching the Ainsworth property and interviewing
Ainsworth's husband, Ernest Lee Hargon, in connection with the disappearance of
three Yazoo County family members, who are related to Hargon.

"No matter what happens, Dr. Lisa did nothing wrong," said Darlene Blakeney of
Mize, who grew up in Taylorsville with Lisa Ainsworth.

Blakeney, like other Taylorsville residents drove north on Smith County Road 19
Saturday afternoon to the National Guard Armory, the site closest to the
clinic.

The Ainsworth clinic is about a half mile north of the armory, but no traffic
was allowed beyond the armory.

"This family would give you the clothes off their back," Blakeney said. "But
with the times we live in, I'm not surprised. I just know Dr. Lisa can't be
involved."

Blakeney said she does not know Hargon well.

"I don't know where he's from, but it's not from around here," she said.

The disappearance of the young Mississippi family has become a national story
and crews from NBC, Fox and four state television stations had set up
operations at the armory.

"NBC has followed this story day to day because of its potential tragedy which
resounds with everyone," said Donald Wood. Wood of Tampa, Fla., an independent
producer hired by NBC. Wood covered the disappearance Feb. 2 of Carlie Brucia
in Sarasota, Fla.

"As a parent, that story tore my heart out," Wood said. "Unfortunately this
story is looking like it, too, will end in tragedy."

Taylorsville is a small rural community with a great education system that's
never made national headlines before, said Max Phillips, a retired teacher.
Phillips, a candidate last year for Commissioner of Agriculture, taught at
Taylorsville High School.

"This has got this community totally stunned," Phillips said. "It's beyond
belief. No one can believe this is happening."

Phillips said Taylorsville's reputation has been a good one in that its schools
have an academic excellence record and its sports teams win championships.

"We're known for our great schools, now it looks like when we're mentioned in
the future, the whole country will now remember us in a negative way," Phillips
said.

Mize resident David DuBose said he did not believe initial reports that the
search had moved to Smith County for the missing family.

"I figured that family was in the bottom of the Big Black (River) up there in
Yazoo," DuBose said.

DuBose said Lisa Ainsworth is his veterinarian.

Taylorsville resident Thomas White said there's no question as to Lisa
Ainsworth's innocence.

"She's the one I feel sorry for in this," White said. White was Ainsworth's
neighbor on Smith County 19 growing up.

"This is shocking, but neither Lisa nor her family could have been involved,"
White said.

***God, I hate to think that she's as bad as he is (which she almost is if she
covered up their murders all this time). Right now, I prefer to think of her
as completely innocent.

She certainly seems to have the support of the community,
or at least the ones who were interviewed.

But....one thing that stands out is how little any of them
know her husband, or anything about him. Yesterday,
a different article had the same kind of "I don't know him"
comments.

If she's a truly innocent angel and he's the spawn of
Satan, how did they end up married....and stay married?

***I heard the publisher of the local paper today comment on what a great guy
he is. I suspect two things--one, he's of a different class from Lisa and is
not local, but has never given anyone much of a reason to dislike him and, two,
it's pretty clear the cops believe he's guilty and no one much wants to show
too much support.

***As soon as I heard about these two I immediately thought of some friends of
mine who live on several acres of land outside of town. She's a dentist and
practices in the rural area she grew up in--she's warm, friendly, bright and
engaging. He's a good old boy--coarse, loud, always smelling of cheap cigars,
but he's never given me an objective reason to dislike him. I'm sure he never
went to college, I don't see much of him and I don't want to. Why are these
two together? First, of course, it's not fair to look inside someone else's
marriage and make conclusions, but since I play a marriage counselor from time
to time on usenet, I'll give it a try. It's an old story--smart women,
particularly in more traditional geographic areas, have fewer marriage options
than do women in other situations. Many women, desperately desiring motherhood
and couplehood, settle. This is particularly true of women who, for reasons
other than education and status might be unattractive to potential suitors. My
guess? Like my wonderful friend, I'd bet Lisa Ainsworth is not a person many
men would find attractive. She's either grossly obese, very mannish in
appearance, is socially very awkward or has an obvious physical handicap. Just
a guess.

I imagine it's #2; I don't see much class differential.
Lisa's family has lived on that farmland for five
generations, which is pretty much the Hargon
background....and the boys were sent to that
private "academy" for various reasons.

Funny, because my mental picture of her is an
attractive, thin woman, long dark hair worn in
braids....and the typical jeans.

Guessing from the area's population figures, I'd
say it's just hard to get a man. The population
of her county is only 18% non-Hispanic white.
In a small-town/rural deep south area, you gotta
stay with people who look like you regardless
of their quality.

Somebody said they couldn't find the ages of the missing family. It was in the
paper at the beginning of the case.

Relatives report Michael Hargon, 27; his wife, Rebecca, 29; and their
4-year-old son, James Patrick, missing from their Vaughan home in Yazoo County.

We know Earnest was born in 1960 (thanks to Imnot911).

Classmates.com has two listed Lisa Ainsworths from Misssissippi,
but one has the married surname Ainsworth...and the other married
someone named Mason. I don't think either are her, although the
Mason did go to Mississippi College from 1985-1989 (and high school
in Jackson from 1981-1985).

***I found three Lisa Ainsworths in Mississippi, none of whom live in
Taylorsville, but all with addresses close to Jackson. They were born in 1959,
1962 and 1966. Interestingly, the only Lisa Ainsworth without a middle initial
was born in 1959 (I've never seen Earnest's wife's name with a middle initial
specified). I think we can conclude that the one you found who married someone
named Mason is the one born in 1966. I'm going with the 1959 one being the one
we're interested in.

Don't know yet about Lisa but Earnest Hargon was born 9--16-1960 and lived in
Carthage, MS until a few years ago. He is now shown under several addresses in
Taylorsville, MS.

In rural areas, the various address listings (such as a rural route address, PO
box, highway number, 911 address, etc.) may be different ways of describing one
residence.
