Brandon man charged in organized crime crackdown
By: Bruce Owen

WINNIPEG - Eight men allegedly connected to the Hells Angels were
arrested in the past week following a series of raids in which police
seized five handguns and cocaine.

Winnipeg police Sgt. Rob Harding said yesterday the arrests are only
one part of an ongoing police crackdown on organized crime in the city.

"It affects their ability to do business," he told reporters as
police put the illegal guns and other items on display.

The latest arrests follow several raids last month in which police
arrested five members of the Manitoba Hells Angels, including the
gang's president, Ernie Dew, on drug and gangsterism charges. Dew,
along with Hells Angels Jeff Peck and Ian Grant, remains in custody.

Harding said those arrests are not related to the ones in the past
week.

"However, the players are certainly associated," he said.

Police said the gun and drug seizures were made after three men were
stopped March 8 by officers with the organized crime unit outside a
Leila Avenue apartment block.

The suspects were allegedly in possession of five loaded semi-automatic
handguns, all black Glock pistols bearing U.S. serial numbers. Police
believe the guns were being moved from one spot to another for
safekeeping.

Police also said one of the men had 11 one-gram packages of cocaine in
his possession and another man had 30 rocks of crack cocaine along with
two ounces of cocaine. Harding said police are still tracing the origin
of the guns.

Each appeared brand new and had an extra clip of ammunition.

In the past, police have said they're seeing more handguns smuggled
into Canada from the U.S. After the gun and drug seizure, police
obtained search warrants for several locations in Winnipeg and seized
more evidence of drug trafficking, including an automotive hydraulic
press allegedly used to compress bricks of cocaine for resale.

Harding also said the arrests are significant because as police chip
away at the lower ranks of the Hells Angels network, those at the top
are less isolated and more pressured to get directly involved in
criminal activity, putting themselves at risk of arrest. It also makes
those at the top more suspicious of who they're dealing with.

"A great deal of trust is placed in these associates, and that trust
is not developed overnight," Harding said. "When someone is
arrested, they've got to wonder how it took place."

Harding added the arrests are part of an eight-month effort by police
on the Hells Angels in which more than two dozen people have been
arrested.

Jason Lamy, 25, and Jay Mike, 21, are both charged with cocaine
possession and multiple gun offences.

Harding said Lamy is a Hells Angels associate and Mike is a Zig Zag
Crew associate.

The Zig Zag Crew is the puppet club of the Manitoba Hells Angels.

Christopher Dheilly, 21, is charged with multiple firearms offences.
Police said he is also a Zig Zag associate.

Harold Amos, 34, and Sean Demchuk, 22, are each charged with two counts
of cocaine trafficking and five counts of possession of a prohibited
restricted firearm.

Harding said Amos is a hang-around of the Hells Angels and Demchuk is a
member of the Zig Zag Crew.

Andrew O'Neill, 26, of Brandon, and Craig Mirus-Fredericks, 24, are
also charged with trafficking in cocaine.

O'Neill is also a member of the Zig Zag Crew. Mirus-Fredericks is an
associate of the Zig Zag Crew, police said.

Police also charged Jerry Crampton, 24, with weapons offences. He is an
associate of the Zig Zag Crew.

Organized Crime Unit Investigation
On March 8th, 2006, an Organized Crime Unit investigation led officers
to the 1200 block of Leila Avenue. Three males were apprehended leaving
an apartment block at this address and found to be in possession of
five semi automatic handguns. At the time of arrest one of these males
was in possession of two loaded semi automatic handguns and eleven one
gram packages of cocaine. A second male was found in possession of
three loaded semi automatic handguns and thirty rocks of crack cocaine
and two ounces of cocaine.

Jason Lamy, 25 years of age of Winnipeg and Jay Mike, 21 years of age
of Winnipeg have been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the
Purpose of Trafficking and multiple firearms offences. Christopher
Dheilly, 21 years of age of Winnipeg has been charged with multiple
firearms offences.

On March 14th, 2006, as part of this ongoing investigation members of
the Organized Crime Unit conducted several search warrants at multiple

Canada - An alleged Hells Angels associate charged with trying to
dispose of weapons for a jailed biker awaiting trial was himself kept
in custody following a failed bail application yesterday.

Sean Demchuk, 20, was first arrested on a number of firearms possession
charges in June, 2002, after police wire-tapped a series of phone
conversations he had with Hells Angels prospect Ian Grant, according to
the Crown.

Prior to his arrest, a police officer who sounded like Grant phoned
Demchuk and told him to transport a large cache of weapons to a sewage
plant in the city. Grant is one of five bikers awaiting trial on a long
list of criminal charges.

Defence lawyer Jay Prober told court Demchuk thought he was delivering
the weapons to police, not hiding them for a friend.

Demchuk was released on bail for the firearms charges, but re-arrested
again last month after allegedly hiring someone to firebomb the
workplace of the mother of his brother's ex-girlfriend.

A subsequent search of his home turned up 18 pairs of stolen
sunglasses, plus a pair of nunchakus -- a prohibited martial arts
weapon. The conditions of his release forbade him from possessing
prohibited weapons.

Prober said his client denies any involvement with the fire-bombing.

Good to see more arrests of these ppl. The authorities in Canada should
charge all their supporters from the ppl who wear the t-shirts and
baseball caps emblazoned with their logo to the ppl who sell their
drugs and buy weapons for them with being members of a criminal
organization. Put all the full patches, prospects and supporters,
goofs/freinds and hangarounds in prison for 20 years.

Seize their assets and put their children into foster care. Revoke
their business licenses and vehicle operator permits. The Hell's Angels
are a criminal organization and so are the Zig Zags. All the ppl who
buy the t-shirts and baseball caps know this and are just as guilty of
being a part of this organization as the pimps who wear the patches.
Why the Crown isn't acting more proactively in this matter is beyond
me. Some of them are obviously scared and others are obviously bought
and hopefully they will end up in prison too.

Anyone who supports the Hell's Angels is a lowlife.

I'm curious as to why you are so obsessed with the Hell's Angels?

That is a bad start in life to be sure. The son of a BC Hell's Angel was murdered recently http://vancouversun.com/news/crime/man-shot-dead-in-maple-ridge-was-connected-to-hells-angels and other ppl related to HA members have been shot or otherwise harm. Try to distance yourself from the club. There are a lot of bikers that have nothing to do with HAMC or any biker club. Good Luck ! :-)
