Not only that but a former lesbian girlfriend of hers overdosed on
drugs the day LaFave was arrested.
Friends link Backstreet Boy to teacher in sex scandal
TAMPA - The Hillsborough County teacher accused of having sex with a
14-year-old student was once the sweetheart of local Backstreet Boy
Nick Carter, friends of hers told ABC Action News, and a former
lesbian girlfriend of hers is now in the hospital because of the
stress surrounding the case.
Several high school buddies of Debra Beasley (now Debra Lafave)
confirmed that during her freshman and sophomore years, the popular
blonde had a romantic relationship with Nick Carter. According to
their recollections, Debra aspired to be a singer, Nick Carter lived
in the area, and that's how the two met.
From the East Bay yearbook photos obtained by Action News, it is
evident that even in high school, Debra Beasley was a beauty. It's not
hard to believe, based on her sophomore portrait, that the 15-year-old
Debbie was on the volleyball team and on the homecoming court.
"I think every guy in the entire school was mesmerized by Debbie
Beasley," recalled Jamie VanHooser, who said she was one of Debbie's
closest friends in high school.
It was during her freshman and sophomore years, Jamie said, that
Debbie hung out with Nick, who encouraged her dream of becoming a
singer.
"We used to sing in a group called 'Sounds of Time' together. He would
come to our shows and just sit in the audience like everybody else. He
would hang out with us and play basketball. We would go hang out at
the basketball courts at Apollo Beach and Nick would be there playing
basketball with all the buddies," Jamie continued.

"They were very serious. It was cool, it was really a real
relationship. It was before he was the Backstreet Boys, before they
were world-renowned. It was loving and she was very happy and I think
towards the end, his fame took off and Debbie was left in Ruskin."
Debra apparently picked up the pieced and moved on, though. Mannie
Trujillo told Action News that he dated Debbie after her breakup with
Nick Carter.
"It was a regular crush," he recalled. "She was a beautiful girl and
she showed a lot of interest in me."
Eight years later, both Jamie and Nick were astonished at the news
there friend Debbie is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy, a
student she met while teaching at Greco Middle School in Temple
Terrace.
"It just seems ridiculous to me," Jamie said.
"She seemed like a great girl; an average, typical, good American
sweetheart girl, and I just can't believe it," Trujillo added.
But one friend of Lafave's is not taking the news so evenly. A former
girlfriend of hers is in the hospital after overdosing on prescription
drugs.
The young woman's father told Action News that his daughter, Casey,
had a lesbian relationship with Debbie after the relationship with
Nick Carter ended. Debra's parents did not approve, he said, so they
pulled her out of East Bay High School, ending the relationship and
breaking Casey's heart.
Though several years have passed, news that Debbie was facing decades
behind bars and calls from the media were enough to push Casey past
her breaking point, said her father, who asked to remain anonymous.
"She is in the hospital right now herself. I guess she had feelings
for the girl at one time and maybe she still does," he explained. "I
guess she just couldn't take it anymore."
Eventually, Debbie graduated from Bloomingdale High School, and
married Owen Kristian Lafave. According to her attorney, Debra Lafave
is once again living in her townhome with her husband; the family
declined to comment.

Where in the hell did you read this?
Oh my goodness, thats hilarious.
Barry's still talking about how the only sexual women in the universe are
lesbians.
My new husband will be happy to hear I am a lesbian for the second time this
month.
> fact that lesbians account for only 30% of the female population
Is that all?
Form.

Wonder what he'd say about those who shave it all off? Barry must have a rich
fantasy life.

Saying that lesbians are the 'only' sexual "women" in the world is going a
little too far. There's bound to be one or two real women out there that have
sex drives. If humanity can give birth to freaks of nature like two headed
humans, it can certainly give birth to sexual women. But I think the former are
far more numerous than the latter.

Are you telling me that your husband is happy with the fact that you strongly
prefer women sexually, that you think the male form is ugly, that you imagine
him as a woman when you two have sex, that you are only with him because you
bought into the social conditioning that het relationships are moral and right
while lesbian relationships are immoral and wrong?
I don't prefer women sexually, think the male form is ugly, or imagine him
to be a woman, but i both like sex and trim my pubic hair, which makes me a
lesbian twice over in your eyes.

I think what you should say is that they are bi, and I still think
that is off. I wish it were true as I love bi women.
