Hello,

Back in March a young 21 year old fellow named Allen Lane Griffin burst
into a bank in Detroit, armed with a shotgun. Allen forced bank patrons to
lie on the floor and recite religious prayers with him, then he opened
fire, shooting three people to death. As you might imagine, since I am a
great afficianado of killing sprees, I did post several articles on this
bank massacre to the newsgroup, back in March.

Police have had trouble explaining what motivated Allen's massacre, and
they basically said that he was mentally disturbed, since there did not
appear to be a rational motive for his rampage. Allen was shot dead by
police in a gun battle immediately following the massacre, and so it
appeared that the true reason for the rampage would never be discovered.
But here is a very interesting new development in this case, private
investigators, working for the family of one of the dead victims, are
saying that the bank manager, a 52 year old man named Stanley Pijanowski,
was engaged in a homosexual cash-for-sex relationship with our gunman!
That's right, the bank manager, who WAS one of the three people that Allen
shot to death inside the bank, was having a homosexual relationship with
the gunman, and paying him money in exchange for sex.

The family of one of the other dead victims has filed a wrongful death
suit against the bank and against a security guard employed by the bank.
The lawsuit is based upon the fact that the bank manager, this Stanley
Pijanowski fellow, was engaging an an illegal act, and putting the bank
customers at risk, by having a homosexual/prostitute relationship with our
gunman.

In addition, the suit alleges that the security guard hired by the
bank, an unarmed female, was incompetent and failed to perform her duties
in trying to stop this shooting rampage. When a bank customer ran over to
this security guard and told her that a man with a shotgun was about to
come inside, she lay down on the floor, and later hid in the bank's
basement! Ha! Now that is the type of security guard that ALL banks should
have, IMNSVHO.

Take care, JOE

The following appears courtesy of today's Reuters news wire:

DETROIT (Reuter) - A deadly bank shooting rampage in March resulted from a
cash-for-sex relationship gone awry between the bank's manager and the
gunman, the family of one of the victims has alleged in a lawsuit.

The civil wrongful death suit was filed Monday in Wayne County Circuit
Court by the family of James Isom, one of three people shot to death March
11 by 21-year-old Allen Lane Griffin, who burst into a Comerica Bank
branch on Detroit's east side with a shotgun.

At the time, investigators had little explanation for Griffin's rampage,
which ended when police shot him dead in a hail of bullets. At one point,
Griffin, dressed in camouflage fatigues, forced terrified bank patrons to
lie face down on the floor and sing the Lord's Prayer with him.

But the lawsuit, which followed months of work by private investigators,
alleged branch manager Stanley Pijanowski was paying Griffin, who worked
at a nearby carwash, for sex.

Pijanowski, 52, was killed in the incident, as was Isom, 25, a customer
service representative at the bank, and Stanley Hays, 77, a bank customer.

The suit named as defendants Comerica Bank and security guard Virene Brown
and her employer, Guardsmark Inc., for failing to provide adequate
security in the incident.

The suit charges that Pijanowski, a 29-year Comerica employee from
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, had ``intentionally acted with willful and
wanton conduct knowing that harm was imminent and (James Isom) among
others, would be injured.''

``Stanley Pijanowski had an illegal and illicit relationship with Allen
Griffin wherein sex and money were exchanged, and upon information, Allen
Griffin developed animosity toward Stanley Pijanowski which resulted in
the shooting rampage of March 11, 1997,'' the complaint reads.

After the incident, Griffin's family members said he had a variety of
problems, including a failing marriage.

The suit also alleges that Comerica declined opportunities to improve
security at the bank and that Brown, an unarmed security guard, was not
equipped or traineed to provide adequate security.

When a bank patron warned her that he saw Griffin approaching the bank
with a shotgun, Brown lay down on the floor and later hid in the bank's
basement, where she remained for nearly 24 hours, the suit alleged.

A spokeswoman for Comerica declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Pijanowski's sister Darlene Strunk could not be reached for comment on the
suit. She told the Detroit News that her brother was gay but would never
pay for sex.

We'll see! Maybe so, maybe no. Never can tell
until it happens.
