Joe did not "go out of his way to insult anyone and everyone." As you
yourself know from your own experience, he responded politely to anyone
who approached him civilly.

I have suggested people who have a question, or who wonder why Joe, who
always said he had lots of money, is in jail when he apparently could be
out on bail, write to him and ask him. I happen to know the answers to
their questions because I did ask him myself, and I don't think it's my
place to post his business here. Anyone who wants to write him can
write him. I didn't know anyone was forcing you to write to him.

I personally do not feel comfortable discussing Joe's financial
circumstances. I'm sure there are a lot of questions people would like to
ask about Joe. The best way to get an answer is from Joe himself. We'll
know more in the beginning of November about the charges against him.

there is more than one Joseph Weintraub Howard. I think you're on the wrong
page. One of them is dealing with a foreclosure, auto negligence etc and one of
them is as a witness. Joe doesnt have a car and that's not what he's been
charged with as far as he knows.
I imagine although I'm not sure that I'm right , that they have to present the
charges to the suspect before an arraignment.

It is my understanding Joe is only allowed specific times to call out. I
don't *think* he is allowed to receive calls but I may be mistaken. I have
not tried to contact him by telephone myself but I believe Sarah has talked
to him on at least a weekly basis.

Most jails only allow detainees to call out collect. And they cant receive
calls and the prison employees cannot transmit a message to him.
I dont know how much free time you have but I imagine that if you write and
tell him you'd like to speak to him in person he'd be glad to.

10 charges having to do with a fake ID, and one having to do with a
drivers license in particular. The other 10 could be anything.

I'm not trying to spin anything Howard. The charges that Joe is in for are
detailed on the first page and I dont see anything about a driver's license.
On the second page, the one you are looking at, in the upper right of the page
for each button you click on is a descrition such as Auto negligece, a
foreclosure, a witness for a traffic infraction, Failure to use something ( I
cant make it out).
Where do you see driver's license except on the first page for one of the
charges.

Not so sure those aren't serious charges. I believe each count carries a
possible 5 year sentence.
False ID is kinda serious, especially in quantity, such as this. False
DL's, especially the way things are now in the States, won't be treated
quite as lightly as they once may have been. A false DL can be used to
obtain other types of identification, which may provide access to secure
areas, for example. Or could be used to register for things like flying
lessons... I don't think you can understate the level of concern there is
in some places WRT false identity issues.

necessarily the whole truth.

You meant only the 4th one down. It was the mistake I made when I first went to
look at the site awhile ago.
Ok, I went to the page you are talking about, I think you left that step out of
your previous directions :P
And yes I see all the charges and the only thing I can figure out is that when
it says Drivers License/ID they are using an all inclusive term for drivers
licenses and other ID's or that it might be a mistake or that I am wrong :)
I never asked him what all the charges were, I just went by the cops report
that you say isnt accurate.
No big thing.
Ill ask him the next time I write although I know for sure that one of them at
the very least was *not* a driver's license. Maybe it's among the 3 that were
dropped.

I don't intend to get into the big arguement, LS. Joe asked me to post it, I
posted it here and in Alt.zines where FFF is well known, in several Yahoo
groups. It is Joe1Orbit, I would suggest that people write him and ask him
whatever. Why he decided to "come out", I have no idea except there is a
possible book in the making. He said, "No more secrets", so I would think that
he is open for questions.
Why would anyone think that some guy in jail in Broward County, Florida would
be imitating Joe1Orbit?

So it would appear that all these charges have to do with licenses
and/or ID cards.
And this from a precis of a Fort Lauderdale Sun-Times story of
September 25 on the arrest of seven people:
"The task force became aware of the identity theft ring after comparing
notes on a string of robberies at driver license offices in Miami and
reports of identity theft involving car dealership customers. The
stolen equipment was used to make fake Florida driver licenses and
identification cards, investigators said."
I don't know, of course, if the charges we are discussing have any
connection to this affair -- there is a longer story in the paper's
archives for anyone who wants to register to get a password and pay the
$2.50 fee.
