Bank Employees Alert Police To Kidnapped Man, Hostage Wife
Men Entered Couple's Home

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio -- Bank employees noticed a bad bruise on the head of
a 73-year-old customer trying to cash a check and alerted police, who
rescued the kidnapped man -- and his wife being held hostage back home.

Two men entered the couple's home Friday afternoon in this Columbus suburb,
said Officer Don Stanko, Upper Arlington police spokesman. One forced John
Hansel to drive his car to a nearby bank while the other stayed behind with
Judith Hansel, 66.

The suspect ordered the man to withdraw an undetermined amount of cash, but
suspicious tellers called police and described the car, Stanko said.

Police chased the car, which the suspect was driving, onto a nearby freeway
where it crashed. A police report said Robert E. Jackson, a 23-year-old
temporary agency worker from Columbus, was arrested.

Hansel told officers his wife was at home with the other suspect.

A Columbus police SWAT team sent a police dog into the home, and the wife
escaped, Stanko said. Police said Michael Lathon, 19, of Columbus, who works
as a house painter and laborer, surrendered.

The couple were taken to a hospital, but their injuries weren't serious,
Stanko said.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes a crime just has TNB
written all over it.

A lot of news stories don't give the suspect's race, so sometimes I do a
little more research and find proof of my suspicions. Like you said, 99% of
the time, it's a nigger.

Lately I've been saving time by just searching for "suspect black male" on
Google News. It turns up more articles than I can use.
