Here's an update on the 31 year old female teacher in Minnesota who is under
arrest and charged with having sex with a 16 year old boy. This case is really
taking on a LOT of similar overtones to the Mary Kay LeTourneau situation.
We learn below that 31 year old Julie Feil, a highly respected and admired
English teacher, has admitted to having sex with this male student at least 20
times, beginning last year when the boy was 15 years old. She tells police that
she sincerely loves this boy, and that she hopes to continue to have a
relationship with him. Julie would be wise to tone down such declarations,
especially since she will have to stand trial on criminal sexual conduct
charges and faces up to 8 1/2 years in prison. Your narrow-minded and
hypocritical society does not like women to be outspoken in their demeanor.
Julie would be wise to just act remorseful, because by the time the trial is
over, this boy will likely be 17 years old, and just about of legal age to
where her society cannot TOUCH either her or the boy, if they choose to renew
their relationship.
Just like Mary Kay, Julie is married. And she has an 8 year old son of her
own. She and her hubby have seperated, although it's not 100% clear whether the
sexual affair she had with the 15 year old is what caused the separation.
Julie certainly is a cleverly devious sort. She made up a story about having
CANCER, and then used the story to try and salvage her marriage, and to take
time off from work to have sexual liasons with this 15-16 year old boy. Clever
ruse! She REALLY got into the fake cancer story, telling her students she had
cancer, even displaying needle marks on her legs from what she said were
biopsies! She even asked her students to PRAY for her. Hey, if you're gonna
perpetuate a hoax, you might as well milk it for all that you can!
The 16 year old boy apparently did want to end their sexual relationship at
some point in time, but Julie sweet-talked her way into his good graces, and
the relationship continued. She was arrested on Tuesday, and initially denied
having a sexual relationship with the boy, but eventually she did admit to the
truth.
Oh well, she certainly had a fun ride, weaving her tangled web. I wonder
whether the 16 year old boy still wants to resume a relationship with her? It
sounds like she lied to him as well, in regard to having cancer. Although that
is not 100% clear, she might have told him the truth at some point in time.
Anyway, I feel that just like in the Mary Kay LeTourneau case, this 16 year
old boy should be the person to DECIDE whether or not he feels that he was
sexually abused or had "criminal sexual activity" imposed upon him. If he does,
then Julie should go to trial. If he does NOT, and if a psychiatrist finds the
boy to be mature and not under the coercive influence of Julie, the State
should have NO right to bring criminal charges on behalf of the boy, AGAINST
his wishes.
Take care, JOE

English teacher charged with having affair with student
February 20, 1998
HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — For people at Hastings High School, the news was doubly
shocking: a highly regarded English teacher confessed to having sex with a
teen-age student and to lying about having cancer.
Teacher Julie Feil was charged with criminal sexual conduct after police said
she admitted having sex with a student at least 20 times starting when he was
15 years old.
"I wish I could explain to people what it felt like to fall in love with
somebody you're forbidden to fall in love with,'' Feil, 31, allegedly told
investigators after her arrest.
She also said she hopes to continue her relationship with the boy, police said.
Feil was ordered held on bail Thursday and could be sentenced to 8 1/2 years in
prison if convicted.
She was suspended with pay and could be fired. She and her husband have
separated; the couple has an 8-year-old son.
Prosecutors say Feil also admitted making up the cancer story to salvage her
marriage, then perpetuated the lie as an excuse to miss work and in an effort
to keep the boy from ending their relationship.
"The whole school feels betrayed,'' principal Richard Clymer said.
Students saw Feil, who also was coach of the speech team, with her arm in a
sling and needle marks on her legs from what she said were biopsies. They said
she often talked with them about her cancer and sometimes cut class short
because she said she was too weak to continue. She also asked them to pray for
her, they said.
"Let's just say there were some days that she was so weak that I would have to
escort her from her classroom, through the cafeteria and into the office,''
Clymer said.
Suspicions were raised about Feil's relationship with the student, now 16, when
people saw them together away from school, cuddling and holding hands.
Another teacher also found a handwritten note on Feil's desk with the student's
initials and a list of things she wanted to do, which included dinner out and
"Great Sex!''
Police also said they seized letters in which Feil wrote she was upset that the
student wanted to break up and that she needed him.
"I promise never to rush you. I just can't promise to never be hurt as we try
to find a pace we can both be comfortable with,'' she allegedly wrote.
When questioned, the boy told police the relationship started last year when he
was 15 and was baby-sitting Feil's child and watching her dog. The two also
exchanged letters and gifts, including wedding rings, police said.
Feil was arrested at school on Tuesday and initially denied any relationship,
saying the teen probably was fantasizing. She later confessed, police said.
Fiel's attorney did not return a phone call.
