On "Dateline NBC" Tuesday 9/21/99:

On a hot summer night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Terri Gilbert called 911 in a
panic after shooting an intruder in a darkened basement.Was it self-defense or
cold-blooded murder? Decide for yourself in this Interactive Dateline.

Here's a little background from COURT-TV:
NEW MEXICO v. GILBERT
Terri Gilbert's estranged husband stops by one night and enters her home
without knocking. Thinking it's an intruder she shoots and kills Eugene. But
the DA says it's not a simple case of self defense. He says she viciously
murdered her second husband 20 years earlier, but was not indicted because that
killing was ruled self-defense. The previous trial information is withheld from
the current jury.
